సామెతలు 20

1 ౧ ద్రాక్ష మద్యం ఎగతాళి పాలు చేస్తుంది. సారాయి మనిషిని గిల్లికజ్జాలు పెట్టుకునేలా చేస్తుంది. తప్ప తాగి దారి తప్పేవాడు బుద్ధి లేని వాడు.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whoever is deceived by it is not wise.

2 ౨ రాజు వల్ల కలిగే భయం సింహగర్జన వంటిది. రాజుకు కోపం రేపే వాడు తన ప్రాణానికే ముప్పు తెచ్చిపెట్టుకుంటాడు.

The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoever provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.

3 ౩ కలహానికి దూరంగా ఉండడం మనిషికి గౌరవం. మూర్ఖుడు కావాలని వాదం పెట్టుకుంటాడు.

It is an honour for a man to cease from strife: but every fool will be meddling.

4 ౪ నాట్లు వేసే కాలంలో సోమరిపోతు నాగలి పట్టడు. కోతకాలంలో పంటకోసం వస్తే వాడికి ఏమీ దొరకదు.

The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

5 ౫ మనిషి హృదయంలోని ఆలోచన లోతైన నీళ్ల వంటిది. వివేకం గలవాడు దాన్ని చేదుకుంటాడు.

Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water; but a man of understanding will draw it out.

6 ౬ నేను నమ్మదగిన వాణ్ణి అని చాలామంది చెప్పుకుంటారు. అయితే నమ్మదగిన వాడు ఎవరికి కనిపిస్తాడు?

Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

7 ౭ యథార్థవర్తనుడు తన నీతిలో నడుచుకుంటాడు. అతని తదనంతరం అతని పిల్లలు ధన్యులౌతారు.

The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

8 ౮ న్యాయపీఠంపై కూర్చున్న రాజు తన కళ్ళతో చెడుతనాన్ని చెదరగొడతాడు.

A king that sitteth on the throne of judgment scattereth away all evil with his eyes.

9 ౯ నా హృదయాన్ని శుద్ధి చేసుకున్నాను. పాపమంతా వదిలించుకున్నాను అని ఎవరు అనగలరు?

Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

10 ౧౦ వేరువేరు తూకం రాళ్లు వేరువేరు కొలత గిన్నెలు, ఈ రెంటినీ యెహోవా అసహ్యించుకుంటాడు.

Differing weights, and differing measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD.

11 ౧౧ చిన్నవాళ్ళను సైతం వారి చర్యలను బట్టి, వారి ప్రవర్తన శుద్ధమైనదా, యథార్థమైనదా అనే దాన్ని బట్టి వాళ్ళు ఎలాటి వాళ్ళో చెప్పవచ్చు.

Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.

12 ౧౨ వినగల చెవి చూడగల కన్ను ఈ రెంటిని యెహోవాయే చేశాడు.

The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

13 ౧౩ అతిగా నిద్ర పోవద్దు. లేకపోతే దరిద్రం ముంచుకు వస్తుంది. మేలుకుని ఉంటే కడుపు నిండా ఆహారం ఉంటుంది.

Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty; open thy eyes, and thou shalt be satisfied with bread.

14 ౧౪ కొనేవాడు నాసిరకం అంటాడు. అవతలికి వెళ్లి దాన్నే మెచ్చుకుంటాడు.

It is nothing, it is nothing, saith the buyer: but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.

15 ౧౫ బంగారం, విస్తారంగా రత్నాలు ఉన్నాయి. కానీ వివేకంగా మాట్లాడే పెదాలు అమూల్యమైన ఆభరణాలు.

There is gold, and an abundance of rubies: but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.

16 ౧౬ పరాయివాడికి హామీగా ఉన్నవాడి బట్టలు తీసుకో. వ్యభిచారిణి కోసం పూచీ తీసుకున్న వాణ్ణి బాధ్యుడుగా ఎంచు.

Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and take a pledge of him for an adulteress.

17 ౧౭ మోసం చేసి తెచ్చిన ఆహారం మనుషులకు మధురంగా ఉంటుంది. కానీ తరువాత నోరంతా మట్టిగొట్టుకు పోతుంది.

Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

18 ౧౮ ఉద్దేశాలు ఆలోచనచేత స్థిరం అవుతాయి. వివేక పూరితమైన నాయకత్వం ఉన్నప్పుడు మాత్రమే యుద్ధం చెయ్యి.

Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

19 ౧౯ కొండేలు చెప్తూ తిరిగేవాడు ఇతరుల గుట్టు బయట పెడతాడు. కాబట్టి వాగుడు కాయల జోలికి పోవద్దు.

He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets: therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.

20 ౨౦ తన తండ్రిని గానీ తల్లిని గానీ దూషించేవాడి దీపం కారుచీకట్లో ఆరిపోతుంది.

Whoever curseth his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in obscure darkness.

21 ౨౧ నడమంత్రపు సిరి వల్ల చివరకూ దీవెనలు రావు.

An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end of it shall not be blessed.

22 ౨౨ కీడుకు ప్రతికీడు తలపెట్టవద్దు. యెహోవా కోసం కనిపెట్టుకో. ఆయన నిన్ను కాపాడుతాడు.

Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the LORD, and he shall save thee.

23 ౨౩ అన్యాయమైన తూకం రాళ్లు యెహోవాకు అసహ్యం. దొంగ త్రాసును ఆయన ఒప్పుకోడు.

Differing weights are an abomination to the LORD; and a false balance is not good.

24 ౨౪ మనిషి ప్రవర్తన యెహోవా వశంలో ఉంటుంది. తనకు జరగబోయేది అతనికి ఎలా తెలుస్తుంది?

Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

25 ౨౫ తొందరపడి, ఇది దేవునికి ఇచ్చేస్తున్నానని చెప్పడం, మొక్కుబడి చేసిన తరువాత దాన్ని గూర్చి విచారించడం ప్రమాద హేతువు.

It is a snare to the man who devoureth that which is holy, and after vows to make enquiry.

26 ౨౬ జ్ఞానంగల రాజు భక్తిహీనులను చెల్లా చెదరు చేసేస్తాడు. అలాటి వాళ్ళ మీద బరువైన చక్రం దొర్లిస్తాడు.

A wise king scattereth the wicked, and bringeth the wheel over them.

27 ౨౭ మనిషి ఆత్మ యెహోవా పెట్టిన దీపం. అది అంతరంగాలన్నిటినీ శోధిస్తుంది.

The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

28 ౨౮ కృప, సత్యం రాజుకు రక్ష. కృప మూలంగా అతడు తన సింహాసనాన్ని పదిలం చేసుకుంటాడు.

Mercy and truth preserve the king: and his throne is upheld by mercy.

29 ౨౯ యువకుల బలం వారికి శోభ. నెరిసిన తల వృద్ధులకు సౌందర్యం.

The glory of young men is their strength: and the beauty of old men is the gray head.

30 ౩౦ గాయాలు చేసే దెబ్బలు మనసు లోతుల్లోకి దూరి చెడుతనాన్ని పరిహరిస్తాయి.

The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.
