రాజులు~ రెండవ~ గ్రంథము 2
1 ౧ యెహోవా ఏలీయాను సుడిగాలిలో పరలోకానికి తీసుకువెళ్ళే సమయం దగ్గర పడింది. కాబట్టి ఏలీయా ఎలీషాతో కలసి గిల్గాలు నుండి ప్రయాణమయ్యాడు.
And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2 ౨ అప్పుడు ఏలీయా “నీవు దయచేసి ఇక్కడే నిలిచిపో. నన్ను బేతేలుకు వెళ్ళమని యెహోవా చెప్పాడు” అని ఎలీషాతో అన్నాడు. దానికి ఎలీషా “యెహోవా ప్రాణం మీదా నీ ప్రాణం మీదా ఒట్టేసి చెబుతున్నాను. నేను నిన్ను విడిచి పెట్టను” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు. కాబట్టి వాళ్ళిద్దరూ బేతేలుకు వెళ్ళారు.
And Elijah said to Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said, [As] the LORD liveth, and [as] thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el.
3 ౩ బేతేలులో ఉన్న ప్రవక్తల సమాజం వారు ఎలీషా దగ్గరికి వచ్చారు. “ఈ రోజు నీ దగ్గరనుండి నీ గురువుని యెహోవా తీసుకు వెళ్తాడని తెలుసా?” అని ఎలీషాను ప్రశ్నించారు. దానికి ఎలీషా “నాకు తెలుసులే. మీరు దాని గురించి మాట్లాడకండి” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.
And the sons of the prophets that [were] at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said to him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to-day? And he said, Yes, I know [it]; hold ye your peace.
4 ౪ అప్పుడు ఏలీయా “నీవు దయచేసి ఇక్కడే నిలిచిపో. నన్ను యెరికోకి వెళ్ళమని యెహోవా చెప్పాడు” అని ఎలీషాతో అన్నాడు. దానికి ఎలీషా “యెహోవా ప్రాణం మీదా నీ ప్రాణం మీదా ఒట్టేసి చెబుతున్నాను, నేను నిన్ను విడిచి పెట్టను” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు. కాబట్టి వాళ్ళిద్దరూ యెరికోకి వెళ్ళారు.
And Elijah said to him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, [As] the LORD liveth, and [as] thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
5 ౫ అప్పుడు యెరికోలో కూడా ప్రవక్తల బృందం ఉంది. వారు ఎలీషా దగ్గరికి వచ్చారు. “ఈ రోజు నీ దగ్గరనుండి నీ గురువుని యెహోవా తీసుకు వెళ్తాడని తెలుసా?” అని ఎలీషాను ప్రశ్నించారు. దానికి ఎలీషా “నాకు తెలుసులే. మీరు దాని గురించి మాట్లాడకండి” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.
And the sons of the prophets that [were] at Jericho came to Elisha, and said to him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to-day? And he answered, Yes, I know [it]; hold ye your peace.
6 ౬ అప్పుడు ఏలీయా “నీవు దయచేసి ఇక్కడే నిలిచిపో. నన్ను యొర్దానుకి వెళ్ళమని యెహోవా చెప్పాడు” అని ఎలీషాతో అన్నాడు. దానికి ఎలీషా “యెహోవా ప్రాణం మీదా నీ ప్రాణం మీదా ఒట్టేసి చెబుతున్నాను, నేను నిన్ను విడిచి పెట్టను” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు. కాబట్టి వాళ్ళిద్దరూ ప్రయాణం కొనసాగించారు.
And Elijah said to him, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jordan. And he said, [As] the LORD liveth, and [as] thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. And they two went on.
7 ౭ తరువాత వాళ్ళిద్దరూ యొర్దాను నదీ తీరాన నిల్చున్నారు. ప్రవక్తల సమాజం వారు యాభై మంది కొంచెం దూరంలో నిలబడి చూస్తూ ఉన్నారు.
And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.
8 ౮ అప్పుడు ఏలీయా తన పైవస్త్రాన్ని తీసుకుని, దాన్ని చుట్టి దానితో నీటి మీద కొట్టాడు. దాంతో నది అటూ ఇటూగా విడిపోయింది. అప్పుడు వాళ్ళిద్దరూ పొడినేల పైన నడుస్తూ దాటిపోయారు.
And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped [it] together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
9 ౯ వాళ్ళిద్దరూ నది దాటిన తరువాత ఏలీయా ఎలీషాతో ఇలా అన్నాడు. “నన్ను నీనుండి యెహోవా తీసుకుపోక ముందు నీ కోసం నేనేం చేయాలనుకుంటున్నావో చెప్పు.” అందుకు ఎలీషా “నీ ఆత్మలో రెండు పాళ్ళు నా పైకి వచ్చేలా చెయ్యి” అన్నాడు.
And it came to pass, when they had gone over, that Elijah said to Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I am taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10 ౧౦ అందుకు ఏలీయా “నీవు కఠినమైన విషయం అడిగావు. అయితే యెహోవా నన్ను నీ నుంచి తీసుకు వెళ్ళే సమయంలో ఒకవేళ నేను నీకు కనిపిస్తే అది నీకు జరుగుతుంది. కనిపించకపోతే జరగదు” అన్నాడు.
And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: [nevertheless], if thou shalt see me [when I am] taken from thee, it shall be so to thee; but if not, it shall not be [so].
11 ౧౧ వారు మాట్లాడుతూ ఇంకా ముందుకు సాగిపోతూ ఉన్నారు. అకస్మాత్తుగా అగ్నిజ్వాల వంటి ఒక రథం, అగ్నిజ్వాలల వంటి గుర్రాలూ కనిపించాయి. అవి వారిద్దరి మధ్యకు వచ్చి ఇద్దరినీ వేరు చేశాయి. ఇంతలో ఒక సుడి గాలి లేచింది. ఆ సుడిగాలిలో ఎలీయా పరలోకానికి ఆరోహణమై వెళ్ళిపోయాడు.
And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that behold, [there appeared] a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12 ౧౨ ఎలీషా అది చూసి “నా తండ్రీ, నా తండ్రీ, ఇశ్రాయేలుకి రథాలూ, వాళ్ళ రౌతులు నువ్వే” అని కేక పెట్టాడు. ఆ తరువాత ఏలీయా అతనికి మళ్ళీ కనిపించలేదు. అప్పుడు ఎలీషా తాను కట్టుకున్న వస్త్రం తీసుకుని దాన్ని రెండు ముక్కలుగా చేశాడు.
And Elisha saw [it], and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
13 ౧౩ ఏలీయా దగ్గర నుండి జారి పడిన పైవస్త్రాన్ని అతడు తీసుకున్నాడు. దానితో యొర్దాను నదీ తీరానికి వచ్చాడు.
He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14 ౧౪ నేల మీద పడిన ఎలీయా పైవస్త్రాన్ని పట్టుకుని దానితో నీటిని కొట్టి “ఏలీయా దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఎక్కడ ఉన్నాడు?” అన్నాడు. అతడు ఆ పైవస్త్రంతో నీటిని కొట్టగానే నది అటూ ఇటూగా విడిపోయింది. ఎలీషా అవతలి ఒడ్డుకు నడిచి పోయాడు.
And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where [is] the LORD God of Elijah? And when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
15 ౧౫ యెరికోలో ఉన్న ప్రవక్తల సమాజం వారు అతని కోసం చూస్తూ ఉన్నారు. వారు అతని చూడగానే “ఏలీయా ఆత్మ ఎలీషా మీద నిలిచి ఉంది” అని చెప్పుకున్నారు. వారు అతణ్ణి కలుసుకోడానికి వెళ్ళి నేల వరకూ వంగి అతనికి నమస్కారం చేశారు.
And when the sons of the prophets who [were] to view at Jericho, saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
16 ౧౬ వారు అతనితో “నీ సేవకులైన మా దగ్గర యాభై మంది బలమైన వారున్నారు. నీ గురువును వెదకడానికి వాళ్ళను వెళ్ళనివ్వు. ఒకవేళ యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతణ్ణి పైకి తీసుకు వెళ్ళి ఏ పర్వతం మీదనో, ఏ లోయలోనో పడవేసి ఉండవచ్చు” అని మనవి చేశారు. దానికి ఎలీషా “వద్దు, ఎవర్నీ పంపకండి” అని జవాబిచ్చాడు.
And they said to him, Behold now, there are with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest perhaps the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
17 ౧౭ అయితే వారు అతణ్ణి బాగా ఒత్తిడి చేసి విసిగించారు. దాంతో అతడు “సరే పంపండి” అన్నాడు. అప్పుడు వారు యాభై మందిని పంపించారు. వారు వెళ్లి అతని కోసం మూడు రోజులు గాలించారు గానీ అతణ్ణి కనుక్కోలేక పోయారు.
And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
18 ౧౮ దాంతో వారు యెరికో పట్టణంలోనే ఆగి ఉన్న ఎలీషా దగ్గరికి తిరిగి వచ్చారు. అతడు వాళ్ళతో “వెళ్ళ వద్దని నేను మీకు చెప్పాను కదా” అన్నాడు.
And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho, ) he said to them, Did I not say to you, Go not?
19 ౧౯ తరువాత ఆ పట్టణంలో మనుషులు ఎలీషాతో “మా గోడు వినండి. మా యజమానులైన మీరు చూస్తున్నట్లు ఈ పట్టణ ప్రాంతం మనోహరంగా ఉంది. కానీ ఇక్కడి నీళ్ళు మంచివి కావు. అందుచేత భూమి కూడా నిస్సారంగా ఉంది” అన్నారు.
And the men of the city said to Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city [is] pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water [is] bad, and the ground barren.
20 ౨౦ దానికి ఎలీషా “ఒక కొత్త గిన్నెలో ఉప్పు వేసి నా దగ్గరికి తీసుకు రండి” అని చెప్పాడు. వారు అలాగే దాన్ని అతని దగ్గరికి తీసుకుని వచ్చారు.
And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought [it] to him.
21 ౨౧ అప్పుడు ఎలీషా ఆ నీటి ఊట దగ్గరికి వెళ్ళాడు. ఆ ఊటలో ఉప్పు వేసి ఇలా అన్నాడు. “యెహోవా ఇలా చెప్తున్నాడు. ఈ నీటిని నేను బాగు చేశాను. కాబట్టి ఇప్పటి నుండి దీని వల్ల చావు అనేది ఉండదు. నిస్సారత ఇక ఉండదు.”
And he went forth to the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren [land].
So the waters were healed to this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spoke.
23 ౨౩ తరువాత ఎలీషా అక్కడ నుండి బేతేలుకు వెళ్ళాడు. అతడు దారిలో వెళ్తుండగా ఆ పట్టణంలో నుండి కొంతమంది కుర్రవారు వచ్చి “బోడి వాడా, బోడి వాడా, వెళ్లిపో” అంటూ ఎగతాళి చేసారు.
And he went up from thence to Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said to him, Go up, thou bald-head; go up, thou bald-head.
24 ౨౪ ఎలీషా వెనక్కు తిరిగి వాళ్ళను చూసి యెహోవా పేరున వాళ్ళను శపించాడు. అప్పుడు అడవిలో నుండి రెండు ఆడ ఎలుగు బంట్లు వచ్చి వారిలో నలభై రెండు మందిని గాయపరిచాయి.
And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tore forty and two children of them.
And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
