சங்கீதம் 137

1 ௧ பாபிலோன் ஆறுகள் அருகே நாங்கள் உட்கார்ந்து, அங்கே சீயோனை நினைத்து அழுதோம்.

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down; yea, we wept when we remembered Zion.

2 ௨ அதின் நடுவிலிருக்கும் அலரிச்செடிகளின்மேல் எங்களுடைய கின்னரங்களைத் தூக்கிவைத்தோம்.

We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

3 ௩ எங்களைச் சிறைபிடித்தவர்கள் அங்கே எங்களுடைய பாடல்களையும், எங்களையும் பாழாக்கினவர்கள் மகிழ்ச்சி பாடல்களை விரும்பி: சீயோனின் பாட்டுகளில் சிலவற்றை எங்களுக்குப் பாடுங்கள் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that made us wail [required] mirth, [saying, ] Sing us [one] of the songs of Zion.

4 ௪ யெகோவாவின் பாட்டை அந்நிய தேசத்தில் நாங்கள் பாடுவதெப்படி?

How should we sing a song of Jehovah's upon a foreign soil?

5 ௫ எருசலேமே, நான் உன்னை மறந்தால் என்னுடைய வலதுகை தன்னுடைய தொழிலை மறப்பதாக.

If I forget thee, Jerusalem, let my right hand forget [its skill];

6 ௬ நான் உன்னை நினைக்காமலும், எருசலேமை என்னுடைய முக்கியமான மகிழ்ச்சியிலும் அதிகமாகக் கருதாமலும்போனால், என்னுடைய நாவு என் மேல் வாயோடு ஒட்டிக்கொள்வதாக.

If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to my palate: if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.

7 ௭ யெகோவாவே, எருசலேமின் நாளில் ஏதோமியர்களை நினையும்; அவர்கள்: அதை இடித்துப்போடுங்கள், அஸ்திபாரம்வரை இடித்துப்போடுங்கள் என்று சொன்னார்களே.

Remember, O Jehovah, against the sons of Edom, the day of Jerusalem; who said, Lay [it] bare, Lay [it] bare, down to its foundation!

8 ௮ பாபிலோன் மகளே, பாழாகப்போகிறவளே, நீ எங்களுக்குச் செய்தபடி உனக்குப் பதில் செய்கிறவன் பாக்கியவான்.

Daughter of Babylon, who art to be laid waste, happy he that rendereth unto thee that which thou hast meted out to us.

9 ௯ உன்னுடைய குழந்தைகளைப் பிடித்து, கல்லின்மேல் மோதியடிக்கிறவன் பாக்கியவான்.

Happy he that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the rock.
