லூக்கா 18
1 ௧ சோர்ந்துபோகாமல் எப்பொழுதும் ஜெபம்பண்ணவேண்டும் என்பதைக்குறித்து அவர்களுக்கு அவர் ஒரு உவமையைச் சொன்னார்.
Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and never despair.
2 ௨ ஒரு பட்டணத்திலே ஒரு நியாயாதிபதி இருந்தான்; அவன் தேவனுக்குப் பயப்படாதவனும் மனிதர்களை மதிக்காதவனுமாக இருந்தான்.
“There was,” he said, “in a certain town a judge, who had no fear of God nor regard for people.
3 ௩ அந்தப் பட்டணத்திலே ஒரு விதவையும் இருந்தாள்; அவள் அவனிடத்தில் போய்: எனக்கும் என் எதிராளிக்கும் இருக்கிற காரியத்தில் எனக்கு நியாயஞ்செய்யவேண்டும் என்று விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினாள்.
In the same town there was a widow who went to him again and again, and said ‘Grant me justice against my opponent.’
4 ௪ வெகுநாட்கள்வரை அவனுக்கு மனதில்லாதிருந்தது. பின்பு அவன்: நான் தேவனுக்குப் பயப்படாமலும் மனிதர்களை மதிக்காமலும் இருந்தும்,
For a time the judge refused, but afterward he said to himself ‘Although I am without fear of God or regard for people,
5 ௫ இந்த விதவை என்னை எப்பொழுதும் தொந்தரவு செய்கிறபடியினால், இவள் அடிக்கடி வந்து என்னைத் தொந்தரவுசெய்யாதபடி இவளுக்கு நியாயஞ்செய்யவேண்டும் என்று தனக்குள்ளே சொல்லிக்கொண்டான் என்றார்.
yet, as this widow is so troublesome, I will grant her justice, to stop her from plaguing me with her endless visits.’”
Then the Master added, “Listen to what this iniquitous judge says!
7 ௭ அந்தப்படியே தேவன் தம்மை நோக்கி இரவும் பகலும் கூப்பிடுகிறவர்களாகிய தம்மால் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவர்களின் காரியத்தில் நீடிய பொறுமையுள்ளவராக இருந்து அவர்களுக்கு நியாயஞ்செய்யாமலிருப்பாரோ?
And God – won’t he see that his own people, who cry to him night and day, have justice done them – though he holds his hand?
8 ௮ சீக்கிரத்திலே அவர்களுக்கு நியாயஞ்செய்வார் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன். ஆனாலும் மனிதகுமாரன் வரும்போது பூமியிலே விசுவாசத்தைக் காண்பாரோ என்றார்.
He will, I tell you, give them justice soon enough! Yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
9 ௯ அன்றியும், தங்களை நீதிமான்களென்று நம்பி, மற்றவர்களை அற்பமாக எண்ணின சிலரைக்குறித்து, அவர் ஒரு உவமையைச் சொன்னார்.
Another time, speaking to people who were satisfied that they were religious, and who regarded everyone else with scorn, Jesus told this parable –
10 ௧0 இரண்டு மனிதர்கள் ஜெபம்பண்ணும்படி தேவாலயத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்; ஒருவன் பரிசேயன், மற்றவன் வரி வசூலிப்பவன்.
“Two men went up into the Temple Courts to pray. One was a Pharisee and the other a tax-gatherer.
11 ௧௧ பரிசேயன் நின்று: தேவனே! நான் கொள்ளைக்காரர்கள், அநியாயக்காரர்கள், விபசாரக்காரர்கள் ஆகிய மற்ற மனிதர்களைப்போலவும், இந்த வரி வசூலிப்பவனைப்போலவும் இராததினால் உமக்கு நன்றி செலுத்துகிறேன்.
The Pharisee stood forward and began praying to himself in this way – ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men – thieves, rogues, adulterers – or even like this tax-gatherer.
12 ௧௨ வாரத்தில் இரண்டுமுறை உபவாசிக்கிறேன்; என் சம்பாத்தியத்திலெல்லாம் பத்தில் ஒரு பங்கு காணிக்கை செலுத்தி வருகிறேன் என்று, தனக்குள்ளே ஜெபம்பண்ணினான்.
I fast twice a week, and give a tenth of everything I get to God.’
13 ௧௩ வரி வசூலிப்பவன் தூரத்திலே நின்று, தன் கண்களையும் வானத்திற்கு ஏறெடுக்கத் துணியாமல், தன் மார்பிலே அடித்துக்கொண்டு: தேவனே! பாவியாகிய என்மேல் கிருபையாக இரும் என்றான்.
Meanwhile the tax-gatherer stood at a distance, not venturing even to raise his eyes to heaven, but he kept striking his breast and saying ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’
14 ௧௪ அவனல்ல, இவனே நீதிமானாக்கப்பட்டவனாகத் தன் வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பிப்போனான் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்; ஏனென்றால், தன்னை உயர்த்துகிறவனெவனும் தாழ்த்தப்படுவான், தன்னைத் தாழ்த்துகிறவன் உயர்த்தப்படுவான் என்றார்.
This man, I tell you, went home pardoned, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, while everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”
15 ௧௫ பின்பு குழந்தைகளை அவர் தொடும்படிக்கு அவர்களை அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள். சீடர்கள் அதைக் கண்டு, கொண்டுவந்தவர்களை அதட்டினார்கள்.
Some of the people were bringing even their babies to Jesus, for him to touch them; but, when the disciples saw it, they began to find fault with those who had brought them.
16 ௧௬ இயேசுவோ அவர்களைக் கொண்டுவரும்படி கட்டளையிட்டு: சிறு பிள்ளைகள் என்னிடத்தில் வருகிறதற்கு இடங்கொடுங்கள், அவர்களைத் தடைபண்ணாதிருங்கள்; தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யம் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களுடையது.
Jesus, however, called the little children to him. “Let the little children come to me,” he said, “and do not hinder them, for it is to the childlike that the kingdom of God belongs.
17 ௧௭ எவனாவது சிறு பிள்ளையைப்போல தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளாவிட்டால், அதில் பிரவேசிக்கமாட்டான் என்று உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
I tell you, unless a man receives the kingdom of God like a child, he will not enter it at all.”
18 ௧௮ அப்பொழுது தலைவன் ஒருவன் அவரை நோக்கி: நல்ல போதகரே, நித்தியஜீவனை பெற்றுக்கொள்வதற்க்கு நான் என்னசெய்யவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டான். (aiōnios g166)
And one of the leaders asked Jesus this question – “Good teacher, what must I do if I am to gain eternal life?” (aiōnios g166)
“Why do you call me good?” answered Jesus. “No one is good but God.
20 ௨0 விபசாரம் செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக, கொலை செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக, களவு செய்யாதிருப்பாயாக, பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லாதிருப்பாயாக, உன் தகப்பனையும் உன் தாயையும் கனம்பண்ணுவாயாக என்கிற கட்டளைகளை நீ தெரிந்திருக்கிறாயே என்றார்.
You know the commandments – Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not say what is false about others, Honor your father and your mother.”
“I have observed all these,” he replied, “from childhood.”
22 ௨௨ இயேசு அதைக்கேட்டு: இன்னும் உன்னிடத்தில் ஒரு குறைவு உண்டு; உனக்கு உண்டானவைகளையெல்லாம் விற்றுத் தரித்திரர்களுக்குக் கொடு, அப்பொழுது பரலோகத்திலே உனக்கு செல்வம் உண்டாயிருக்கும்; பின்பு என்னைப் பின்பற்றிவா என்றார்.
Hearing this, Jesus said to him, “There is one thing still lacking in you; sell everything that you have, and distribute to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven; then come and follow me.”
But the man became greatly distressed on hearing this, for he was extremely rich.
24 ௨௪ அவன் மிகுந்த துக்கமடைந்ததை இயேசு கண்டு: செல்வந்தர்கள் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தில் பிரவேசிப்பது எவ்வளவு அரிதாக இருக்கிறது.
Seeing this, Jesus said to his disciples, “How hard it is for the wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!
25 ௨௫ செல்வந்தன் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தில் பிரவேசிப்பதைவிட, ஒட்டகமானது ஊசியின் காதிலே நுழைவது சுலபமாக இருக்கும் என்றார்.
It is easier, indeed, for a camel to get through a needle’s eye than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God!”
“Then who can be saved?” asked those who heard this.
But Jesus said, “What is impossible with people is possible with God.”
28 ௨௮ அப்பொழுது பேதுரு அவரை நோக்கி: இதோ, நாங்கள் எல்லாவற்றையும்விட்டு, உம்மைப் பின்பற்றினோமே என்றான்.
“But we,” said Peter, “we left what belonged to us and followed you.”
29 ௨௯ அதற்கு அவர்: தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தினிமித்தம் வீட்டையாவது, பெற்றோரையாவது, சகோதரர்களையாவது, மனைவியையாவது, பிள்ளைகளையாவது விட்டுவிட்ட எவனும்,
“I tell you,” he answered, “that there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
31 ௩௧ பின்பு அவர் பன்னிருவரையும் தம்மிடத்தில் அழைத்து: இதோ, எருசலேமுக்குப் போகிறோம், மனிதகுமாரனைக்குறித்துத் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளால் எழுதப்பட்டவைகளெல்லாம் நிறைவேறும்.
Gathering the Twelve around him, Jesus said to them, “Listen! We are going up to Jerusalem; and there everything that is written in the prophets will be done to the Son of Man.
32 ௩௨ எப்படியென்றால், அவர் யூதரல்லாதவரிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்பட்டு, பரிகாசமும் நிந்தையும் அடைந்து, துப்பப்படுவார்.
For he will be given up to the Gentiles, mocked, insulted and spat on;
33 ௩௩ அவரை சாட்டையினால் அடித்து, கொலைசெய்வார்கள்; மூன்றாம்நாளிலே அவர் உயிரோடு எழுந்திருப்பார் என்றார்.
they will scourge him, and then put him to death; and on the third day he will rise again.”
34 ௩௪ இவைகளில் ஒன்றையும் அவர்கள் உணரவில்லை; அவைகளின் பொருள் அவர்களுக்கு மறைவாக இருந்தது, அவர் சொன்னவைகளை அவர்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை.
The apostles did not comprehend any of this. His meaning was unintelligible to them and they did not understand what he was saying.
35 ௩௫ பின்பு இயேசு எரிகோவிற்கு சமீபமாக வந்தபோது, ஒரு குருடன் வழியருகே உட்கார்ந்து பிச்சை கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
As Jesus was getting near Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside, begging.
Hearing a crowd going by, the man asked what was the matter;
37 ௩௭ நசரேயனாகிய இயேசு போகிறார் என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள். அப்பொழுது அவன்: இயேசுவே, தாவீதின் குமாரனே, எனக்கு இரங்கும் என்று கூப்பிட்டான்.
and, when people told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing,
38 ௩௮ முன் நடப்பவர்கள் அவன் பேசாமலிருக்கும்படி அவனை அதட்டினார்கள். அவனோ: இயேசுவே தாவீதின் குமாரனே, எனக்கு இரங்கும் என்று மிகவும் அதிகமாகக் கூப்பிட்டான்.
he shouted out, “Jesus, Son of David, take pity on me!”
Those who were in front kept telling him to be quiet, but he continued to call out the louder, “Son of David, take pity on me!”
Then Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. And, when he had come close up to him, Jesus asked him,
41 ௪௧ நான் உனக்கு என்னசெய்யவேண்டும் என்றிருக்கிறாய் என்று கேட்டார். அதற்கு அவன்: ஆண்டவரே, நான் பார்வையடையவேண்டும் என்றான்.
“What do you want me to do for you?” “Master,” he said, “I want to recover my sight.”
And Jesus said, “Recover your sight, your faith has delivered you.”
43 ௪௩ உடனே அவன் பார்வையடைந்து, தேவனை மகிமைப்படுத்திக்கொண்டே, அவருக்குப் பின்னேசென்றான். மக்களெல்லோரும் அதைக் கண்டு, தேவனைப் புகழ்ந்தார்கள்.
Instantly he recovered his sight, and began to follow Jesus, praising God. And all the people, on seeing it, gave glory to God.
