நியாயாதிபதிகள் 12

1 ௧ எப்பிராயீம் மனிதர்கள் ஒன்றாகக் கூடி யோர்தான் நதியை கடந்து வடக்கே உள்ள சாபோன் ஊருக்குப் போய், யெப்தாவை நோக்கி: நீ எங்களை உன்னோடு வரும்படி அழைக்காமல் அம்மோனியர்கள்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்யப்போனதென்ன? உன்னுடைய வீட்டையும் உன்னையும் அக்கினியால் சுட்டுப்போடுவோம் என்றார்கள்.

The men of Ephraim were gathered together, and passed northward; and they said to Jephthah, "Why did you pass over to fight against the people of Ammon, and did not call us to go with you? We will burn your house on you with fire."

2 ௨ அதற்கு யெப்தா: எனக்கும் என்னுடைய மக்களுக்கும் அம்மோனியர்களோடு பெரிய வழக்கு இருக்கும்போது, நான் உங்களைக் கூப்பிட்டேன்; நீங்கள் என்னை அவர்கள் கைக்கு விலக்கி காப்பாற்றவில்லை.

And Jephthah said to them, "I and my people had a dispute, and the people of Ammon were oppressing me greatly; and when I called you, you did not save me out of their hand.

3 ௩ நீங்கள் என்னை காப்பாற்றவில்லை என்று நான் பார்த்தபோது, நான் என்னுடைய ஜீவனை என்னுடைய கையிலே பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, அம்மோன் மக்களுக்கு எதிராகப்போனேன்; யெகோவா அவர்களை என்னுடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; இப்படியிருக்க, நீங்கள் என்மேல் யுத்தம்செய்ய, இன்று என்னிடத்திற்கு வரவேண்டியது என்ன என்று சொன்னான்.

When I saw that you did not save me, I put my life in my own hands, and passed over against the people of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand. Why then have you come up to me this day, to fight against me?"

4 ௪ பின்பு யெப்தா கீலேயாத் மனிதர்களையெல்லாம் கூட்டி, எப்பிராயீமர்களோடு யுத்தம்செய்தான்; எப்பிராயீமுக்கும் மனாசேக்கும் நடுவே குடியிருக்கிற கீலேயாத்தியர்களான நீங்கள் எப்பிராயீமைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போனவர்கள் என்று எப்பிராயீமர்கள் சொன்னபடியினால், கீலேயாத் மனிதர்கள் அவர்களை முறியடித்தார்கள்.

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim; and the men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said, "You are fugitives of Ephraim, you Gileadites, in the midst of Ephraim, and in the midst of Manasseh."

5 ௫ கீலேயாத்தியர்கள் எப்பிராயீமர்களை முந்தி யோர்தானின் துறைமுகங்களைப் பிடித்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது எப்பிராயீமர்களிலே தப்பினவர்களில் யாராவது வந்து: நான் அக்கரைக்குப் போகட்டும் என்று சொல்லும்போது, கீலேயாத் மனிதர்கள்: நீ எப்பிராயீமனா என்று அவனைக் கேட்பார்கள்; அவன் அல்ல என்றால்,

The Gileadites took the fords of the Jordan against the Ephraimites. It was so, that when any of the fugitives of Ephraim said, "Let me go over," the men of Gilead said to him, "Are you an Ephraimite?" If he said, "No";

6 ௬ நீ ஷிபோலேத் என்று சொல் என்பார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவன் அப்படி உச்சரிக்க முடியாமல், சிபோலேத் என்பான்; அப்பொழுது அவனைப் பிடித்து, யோர்தான் துறைமுகத்திலே வெட்டிப்போடுவார்கள்; அக்காலத்திலே எப்பிராயீமில் 42,000 பேர் இறந்தார்கள்.

then they said to him, "Now say 'Shibboleth;'" and he said "Sibboleth"; for he couldn't manage to pronounce it right: then they seized him, and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. There fell at that time of Ephraim forty-two thousand.

7 ௭ யெப்தா இஸ்ரவேலை ஆறு வருடங்கள் நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்; பின்பு கீலேயாத்தியனான யெப்தா இறந்து, கீலேயாத்திலுள்ள ஒரு பட்டணத்தில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான்.

Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then Jephthah the Gileadite died, and was buried in his city in Gilead.

8 ௮ அவனுக்குப்பின்பு பெத்லெகேம் ஊரானாகிய இப்சான் இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்.

After him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.

9 ௯ அவனுக்கு 30 மகன்களும் 30 மகள்களும் இருந்தார்கள்; 30 மகள்களையும் வேறு இனத்திலே திருமணம் செய்துகொடுத்து, தன்னுடைய மகன்களுக்கு 30 பெண்களை வேறு இனத்திலிருந்து எடுத்தான்; அவன் இஸ்ரவேலை ஏழு வருடங்கள் நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்.

He had thirty sons; and thirty daughters he sent abroad, and thirty daughters he brought in from abroad for his sons. He judged Israel seven years.

10 ௧0 பின்பு இப்சான் இறந்து, பெத்லெகேமிலே அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான்.

Ibzan died, and was buried at Bethlehem.

11 ௧௧ அவனுக்குப் பின்பு செபுலோனியனாகிய ஏலோன் இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்; அவன் பத்து வருடங்கள் இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்.

After him Elon the Zebulunite judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

12 ௧௨ பின்பு செபுலோனியனாகிய ஏலோன் இறந்து, செபுலோன் தேசமான ஆயலோன் ஊரில் அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான்.

Elon the Zebulunite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the land of Zebulun.

13 ௧௩ அவனுக்குப்பின்பு இல்லேலின் மகனான பிரத்தோனியனான அப்தோன் இஸ்ரவேலை நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்.

After him Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite judged Israel.

14 ௧௪ அவனுக்கு 40 மகன்களும் 30 பேரப்பிள்ளைகளும் இருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் 70 கழுதைகளின்மேல் ஏறுவார்கள்; அவன் இஸ்ரவேலை எட்டு வருடங்கள் நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்.

He had forty sons and thirty grandsons who rode on seventy donkey colts. And he judged Israel eight years.

15 ௧௫ பின்பு பிரத்தோனியனான இல்லேலின் மகனான அப்தோன் இறந்து, எப்பிராயீம் தேசத்தில் அமலேக்கியர் மலையிலிருக்கிற பிரத்தோனிலே அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டான்.

Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the hill country of the Amalekites.
