உபாகமம் 7
1 ௧ “நீ சொந்தமாக்கிக்கொள்ளப்போகிற தேசத்தில் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னை நுழையச்செய்து, உன்னைவிட எண்ணிக்கையிலும் பெலத்திலும் மிகுந்த மக்களாகிய ஏத்தியர்கள், கிர்காசியர்கள், எமோரியர்கள், கானானியர்கள், பெரிசியர்கள், ஏவியர்கள், எபூசியர்கள் என்னும் ஏழு பலத்த தேசங்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தி,
When Yahweh your God brings you into the land that you go to possess, he will drive out many nations before you—the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites—seven nations greater and mightier than you.
2 ௨ உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அவர்களை உன்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்போது, அவர்களைத் தாக்கி, முற்றிலும் அழித்துவிடவேண்டும்; அவர்களுடன் உடன்படிக்கைசெய்யவும் அவர்களுக்கு மனமிரங்கவும் வேண்டாம்.
It is Yahweh your God who gives them over to you when you defeat them, and then you must completely destroy them. You will make no covenant with them, and show them no mercy.
3 ௩ அவர்களுடன் சம்பந்தம் ஏற்படுத்தக்கூடாது; உன் மகள்களை அவர்கள் மகன்களுக்குக் கொடுக்காமலும், அவர்களுடைய மகள்களை உன் மகன்களுக்குக் கொள்ளாமலும் இருப்பாயாக.
Neither will you arrange any marriages with them. You will not give your daughters to their sons, and you will not take their daughters for your sons.
4 ௪ என்னைப் பின்பற்றாமல், அந்நிய தெய்வங்களை வணங்கும்படி அவர்கள் உன்னுடைய மகன்களை விலகச்செய்வார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவாவுடைய கோபம் உங்கள்மேல் மூண்டு, உங்களைச் சீக்கிரத்தில் அழிக்கும்.
For they will turn away your sons from following me, so that they may worship other gods. So the anger of Yahweh will be kindled against you, and he will destroy you quickly.
5 ௫ நீங்கள் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்யவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: அவர்களுடைய பலிபீடங்களை இடித்து, சிலைகளை உடைத்து, தோப்புகளை வெட்டி, சிலைகளை அக்கினியிலே எரித்துவிடவேண்டும்.
This is how you will deal with them: You will break down their altars, dash their stone pillars in pieces, cut down their Asherah poles, and burn their cast idols.
6 ௬ நீ உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா வுக்குப் பரிசுத்த மக்கள், பூமியிலுள்ள எல்லா மக்களிலும் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னைத் தமக்குச் சொந்தமாயிருப்பதற்காகத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார்.
For you are a nation that is set apart to Yahweh your God. He has chosen you to be a people for him to possess, more than all the other peoples that are on the face of the earth.
7 ௭ சகல மக்களிலும் நீங்கள் எண்ணிக்கையில் அதிகமான மக்களென்று யெகோவா உங்கள்மேல் அன்புவைத்து உங்களைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளவில்லை; நீங்கள் எல்லா மக்களிலும் சிறிய கூட்டமாயிருந்தீர்கள்.
Yahweh did not set his love upon you or choose you because you were more in number than any people—for you were the fewest of all peoples—
8 ௮ யெகோவா உங்களில் அன்புசெலுத்தியதாலும், உங்கள் முற்பிதாக்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த வாக்கை நிறைவேற்றவேண்டும் என்பதினாலும்; யெகோவா பலத்த கையினால் உங்களைப் புறப்படச்செய்து, அடிமைத்தன வீடாகிய எகிப்திலிருந்தும், அதின் ராஜாவான பார்வோனின் கையிலிருந்தும் உங்களை மீட்டுக்கொண்டார்.
but because he loves you, and he wished to keep the oath that he had sworn to your fathers. This is why Yahweh has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.
9 ௯ ஆகையால் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவே தேவன் என்றும், தம்மில் அன்புவைத்து, தமது கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறவர்களுக்கு அவர் ஆயிரம் தலைமுறைவரை உடன்படிக்கையையும் தயவையும் காக்கிற உண்மையுள்ள தேவன் என்றும்,
Therefore know that Yahweh your God—he is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenants and faithfulness for a thousand generations with those who love him and keep his commandments,
10 ௧0 தம்மைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களுக்கு வெளிப்படையாகப் பதிலளித்து அவர்களை அழிப்பார் என்றும், தம்மைப் பகைக்கிறவனுக்கு அவர் தாமதியாமல் வெளிப்படையாகப் பதிலளிப்பார் என்றும் நீ அறிவாயாக.
but repays those who hate him to their face, to destroy them; he will not be lenient on whoever hates him; he will repay him to his face.
11 ௧௧ ஆகையால் நீ செய்யும்படி நான் இன்று உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிற கற்பனைகளையும், கட்டளைகளையும், நியாயங்களையும் கைக்கொள்வாயாக.
You will therefore keep the commandments, the statutes, and the decrees that I command you today, so that you will do them.
12 ௧௨ “இந்த நியாயங்களை நீங்கள் கேட்டு, கைக்கொண்டு, அவைகளின்படி செய்வீர்களானால், அப்பொழுது உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன் முற்பிதாக்களுக்கு வாக்களித்துக் கொடுத்த உடன்படிக்கையையும் கிருபையையும் உனக்காகக் காத்து,
If you listen to these decrees, and keep and do them, it will happen that Yahweh your God will keep with you the covenant and the faithfulness that he swore to your fathers.
13 ௧௩ உன்மேல் அன்பு வைத்து, உன்னை ஆசீர்வதித்து, உனக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று உன் முற்பிதாக்களுக்கு வாக்களித்து, கொடுத்த தேசத்தில் உன்னைப் பெருகச்செய்து, உன் கர்ப்பப்பிறப்புகளையும், உன் நிலத்தின் பலன்களாகிய தானியத்தையும், திராட்சைரசத்தையும், எண்ணெயையும், உன் மாடுகளின் பலனையும், ஆட்டுமந்தைகளையும் ஆசீர்வதிப்பார்.
He will love you, bless you, and multiply you; he will also bless the fruit of your body and the fruit of your ground, your grain, your new wine, and your oil, the multiplication of your cattle and the young of your flocks, in the land that he swore to your fathers to give you.
14 ௧௪ சகல மக்களைவிட நீ ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டிருப்பாய்; உங்களுக்குள்ளும் உங்கள் கால்நடைகளுக்குள்ளும் ஆணிலாகிலும் பெண்ணிலாகிலும் மலடு இருப்பதில்லை.
You will be blessed more than all other peoples; there will not be a childless male or a barren female among you or among your cattle.
15 ௧௫ யெகோவா சகல நோய்களையும் உன்னை விட்டு விலக்குவார்; உனக்குத் தெரிந்திருக்கிற எகிப்தியர்களின் கொடிய வியாதிகளில் ஒன்றும் உன்மேல் வரச்செய்யாமல், உன்னைப் பகைக்கிற அனைவரின்மேலும் அவைகளை வரச்செய்வார்.
Yahweh will take away from you all sickness; none of the evil diseases of Egypt that you have known will he put on you, but he will put them on all those who hate you.
16 ௧௬ உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும் சகல மக்களையும் நிர்மூலமாக்கக்கடவாய்; உன் கண் அவர்களுக்கு இரக்கம்காட்டாமல் இருப்பதாக; அவர்கள் தெய்வங்களை நீ வழிபடாமல் இருப்பாயாக; அது உனக்குக் கண்ணியாக இருக்கும்.
You will consume all the peoples whom Yahweh your God will give over to you, and your eye will not pity them. You will not worship their gods, for that will be a trap for you.
17 ௧௭ “அந்த மக்கள்கூட்டத்தினர் என்னைவிட எண்ணிக்கையில் அதிகமுள்ளவர்கள், நான் அவர்களைத் துரத்திவிடுவது எப்படி என்று உன் இருதயத்தில் சொல்லிக்கொள்வாயானால்,
If you say in your heart, 'These nations are more numerous than I; how can I dispossess them?'—
do not be afraid of them; you will call to mind what Yahweh your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt;
19 ௧௯ உன்னுடைய கண்கள் கண்ட பெரிய சோதனைகளையும், அடையாளங்களையும், அற்புதங்களையும், உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உன்னைப் புறப்படச்செய்து காண்பித்த பலத்த கையையும் ஓங்கிய புயத்தையும் நன்றாக நினைத்து, அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாதிரு; நீ யாரைப்பார்த்துப் பயப்படுகிறாயோ அவர்களுக்கும் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அப்படியே செய்வார்.
the great sufferings that your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm by which Yahweh your God brought you out. Yahweh your God will do the same to all the peoples whom you fear.
20 ௨0 மீதியாயிருந்து உன் கண்களுக்குத்தப்பி ஒளிந்துகொள்ளுகிறவர்களும் அழிந்துபோகும்வரை உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அவர்களுக்குள்ளே குளவிகளை அனுப்புவார்.
Moreover, Yahweh your God will send the hornet among them, until those who are left and who hide themselves from you perish from your presence.
21 ௨௧ அவர்களைப் பார்த்து பயப்படவேண்டாம்; உங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உங்களுக்குள்ளே இருக்கிறார், அவர் வல்லமையும் பயங்கரமுமான தேவன்.
You will not be frightened at them, for Yahweh your God is among you, a great and fearsome God.
22 ௨௨ அந்த மக்களை உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக உன்னைவிட்டுத் துரத்திவிடுவார்; நீ அவர்களை ஒரே சமயத்தில் அழிக்கவேண்டாம்; அழித்தால் காட்டுமிருகங்கள் உன்னிடத்தில் பெருகிப்போகும்.
Yahweh your God will drive out those nations before you little by little. You will not defeat them all at once, or the wild animals would become very many around you.
23 ௨௩ உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா அவர்களை உன்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, அவர்கள் அழியும்வரை அவர்களை மிகவும் கலங்கடிப்பார்.
But Yahweh your God will give you victory over them when you meet them in battle; he will greatly confuse them until they are destroyed.
24 ௨௪ அவர்களுடைய ராஜாக்களை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்; அவர்களுடைய பெயர் வானத்தின்கீழ் இராதபடி அவர்களை அழிக்கக்கடவாய்; நீ அவர்களை அழித்துமுடியும்வரை ஒருவரும் உனக்கு எதிர்த்து நிற்கமாட்டார்கள்.
He will put their kings under your power, and you will make their name perish from under heaven. No one will be able to stand before you, until you have destroyed them.
25 ௨௫ அவர்களுடைய தெய்வங்களின் சிலைகளை அக்கினியினால் சுட்டெரிக்கக்கடவாய்; நீ அவைகளால் சிக்கிக்கொள்ளாதபடி, அவைகளில் இருக்கிற வெள்ளியையும், பொன்னையும் ஆசைப்படாமலும், அதை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளாமலும் இருப்பாயாக; அவைகள் உன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு அருவருப்பானவைகள்.
You will burn the carved figures of their gods—do not covet the silver or the gold that covers them and take it for yourself, because if you do, you will become trapped by it—for it is an abomination to Yahweh your God.
26 ௨௬ அவைகளைப்போல நீ சாபத்திற்குள்ளாகாதபடி அருவருப்பானதை உன் வீட்டிற்குக் கொண்டுபோகாதே; அதைச் சீ என்று வெறுத்து முற்றிலும் அருவருப்பாயாக, அது சாபத்திற்குள்ளானது.
You will not bring any abomination into your house and start to worship it. You will utterly detest and abhor it, for it is set apart for destruction.
