1 ௧ யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாசின் பன்னிரண்டாம் வருட ஆட்சியில், ஏலாவின் மகனாகிய ஓசெயா இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகி, சமாரியாவிலே ஒன்பதுவருடங்கள் அரசாட்சிசெய்து,
In the twelfth year of Ahaz king of Judah, Hoshea the son of Elah began to reign in Samaria over Israel for nine years.
2 ௨ யெகோவாவின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்; ஆனாலும் தனக்கு முன்னிருந்த இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாக்களைப்போல் செய்யவில்லை.
He did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, yet not as the kings of Israel who were before him.
3 ௩ அவனுக்கு விரோதமாக அசீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய சல்மனாசார் வந்தான்; அப்பொழுது ஓசெயா அவனுக்குக் கீழிருந்து, அவனுக்கு வரி செலுத்தினான்.
Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Assyria; and Hoshea became his servant, and brought him tribute.
4 ௪ ஓசெயா எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய சோ என்பவனிடத்திற்கு பிரதிநிதிகளை அனுப்பினதும், தனக்கு வருடந்தோறும் செய்ததுபோல், வரி செலுத்தாமல் போனதுமான கலக யோசனையை அசீரியாவின் ராஜா ஓசெயாவினிடத்திலே கண்டு, அவனைப் பிடித்துக் கட்டிச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே வைத்தான்.
The king of Assyria found conspiracy in Hoshea; for he had sent messengers to So king of Egypt, and offered no tribute to the king of Assyria, as he had done year by year: therefore the king of Assyria shut him up, and bound him in prison.
5 ௫ அசீரியா ராஜா தேசம் எங்கும் போய், சமாரியாவுக்கும் வந்து அதை மூன்றுவருடங்கள் முற்றுகையிட்டிருந்தான்.
Then the king of Assyria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three years.
6 ௬ ஓசெயாவின் ஒன்பதாம் வருட ஆட்சியில் அசீரியா ராஜா சமாரியாவைப் பிடித்து, இஸ்ரவேலை அசீரியாவுக்குச் சிறையாகக் கொண்டுபோய் அவர்களைக் கோசான் நதி ஓரமான ஆலாகிலும், ஆபோரிலும், மேதியரின் பட்டணங்களிலும் குடியேற்றினான்.
In the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Assyria took Samaria, and carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and on the Habor, the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.
7 ௭ எகிப்தின் ராஜாவாகிய பார்வோனுடைய கையின்கீழிருந்த தங்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து வரச்செய்த தங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு விரோதமாக இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் பாவம்செய்து, அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயந்து நடந்து,
It was so, because the children of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who brought them up out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,
8 ௮ யெகோவா இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தின மக்களின் வழிபாடுகளிலும் இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாக்களின் வழிபாடுகளிலும் நடந்துகொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
and walked in the statutes of the nations, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they made.
9 ௯ செய்யத்தகாத காரியங்களை இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவுக்கு விரோதமாக இரகசியத்தில் செய்ததுமன்றி, காவல்காக்கிற கோபுரங்கள் தொடங்கி அரணான பட்டணங்கள்வரையுள்ள தங்கள் ஊர்களிலெல்லாம் தங்களுக்கு மேடைகளையும் கட்டி,
The children of Israel did secretly things that were not right against the LORD their God: and they built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city;
10 ௧0 உயரமான சகல மேட்டின்மேலும் பச்சையான சகல மரத்தின்கீழும் தங்களுக்குச் சிலைகளையும் விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளையும் நிறுத்தி,
and they set them up pillars and Asherim on every high hill, and under every green tree;
11 ௧௧ யெகோவா தங்களை விட்டுக் குடிவிலக்கின மக்களைப்போல, சகல மேடைகளிலும் தூபம்காட்டி, யெகோவாவுக்குக் கோபமுண்டாகத் துர்க்கிரியைகளைச் செய்து,
and there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the nations whom the LORD carried away before them; and they worked wicked things to provoke the LORD to anger;
12 ௧௨ இப்படிச் செய்யத்தகாது என்று யெகோவா தங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தும், அருவருப்பான விக்கிரகங்களை வழிபட்டு வந்தார்கள்.
and they served idols, of which the LORD had said to them, "You shall not do this thing."
13 ௧௩ நீங்கள் உங்கள் பொல்லாத வழிகளை விட்டுத் திரும்பி, நான் உங்கள் முன்னோர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதும், என் ஊழியக்காரர்களாகிய தீர்க்கதரிசிகளைக்கொண்டு உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினதுமான நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியெல்லாம் என் கற்பனைகளையும் என் கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று யெகோவா தீர்க்கதரிசிகள், தரிசனம் காண்கிறவர்கள் எல்லோரையும்கொண்டு இஸ்ரவேலுக்கும் யூதாவுக்கும் மிக உறுதியாக எச்சரித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தும்,
Yet the LORD testified to Israel, and to Judah, by every prophet, and every seer, saying, "Turn from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets."
14 ௧௪ அவர்கள் செவிகொடாமல், தங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாமேல் விசுவாசிக்காமலிருந்த கடினக் கழுத்துள்ள தங்கள் முன்னோர்களைப்போல், தங்கள் கழுத்தைக் கடினப்படுத்தி,
Notwithstanding, they would not listen, but hardened their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God.
15 ௧௫ அவருடைய கட்டளைகளையும், அவர் தங்கள் முன்னோர்களோடுசெய்த அவருடைய உடன்படிக்கையையும், அவர் தங்களுக்கு மிக உறுதியாகக் காண்பித்த அவருடைய சாட்சிகளையும் வெறுத்துவிட்டு, வீணான விக்கிரகங்களைப் பின்பற்றி வீணராகி, அவர்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிறவர்களைப்போல, செய்ய வேண்டாமென்று யெகோவா தங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டு விலக்கியிருந்த மக்களுக்குப் பின்சென்று,
They rejected his statutes, and his covenant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies which he testified to them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and followed the nations that were around them, concerning whom the LORD had commanded them that they should not do like them.
16 ௧௬ தங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவின் கற்பனைகளையெல்லாம் விட்டுவிட்டு, இரண்டு கன்றுக்குட்டிகளாகிய வார்ப்பித்த விக்கிரகங்களைத் தங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்கி, விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளை நாட்டி, வானத்தின் சேனைகளையெல்லாம் பணிந்துகொண்டு, பாகாலை வணங்கினார்கள்.
They forsook all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made an Asherah, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.
17 ௧௭ அவர்கள் தங்கள் மகன்களையும் தங்கள் மகள்களையும் அக்கினியில் சுட்டெரித்துப்போட்டு, குறிகேட்டு சகுனங்கள் பார்த்து, யெகோவாவுக்குக் கோபமுண்டாக்க அவர் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்கிறதற்குத் தங்களை விற்றுப்போட்டார்கள்.
They caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, practiced divination and sorcery, and sold themselves to do that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
18 ௧௮ ஆகையால் யெகோவா இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் மிகவும் கோபமடைந்து, அவர்களைத் தம்முடைய முகத்தைவிட்டு அகற்றினார்; யூதா வம்சம் மாத்திரமே மீதியானது.
Therefore the LORD was very angry with Israel, and removed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of Judah only.
19 ௧௯ யூதா மக்களும் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவின் கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல் இஸ்ரவேல் உண்டாக்கின வழிபாடுகளில் நடந்தார்கள்.
Also Judah did not keep the commandments of the LORD their God, but walked in the statutes of Israel which they made.
20 ௨0 ஆகையால் யெகோவா இஸ்ரவேல் சந்ததியாரையெல்லாம் புறக்கணித்து, அவர்களைத் தமது முகத்தைவிட்டுத் தள்ளும்வரை ஒடுக்கி, அவர்களைக் கொள்ளைக்காரர்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.
The LORD rejected all the descendants of Israel, and afflicted them, and delivered them into the hand of plunderers, until he had cast them out of his sight.
21 ௨௧ இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் தாவீது வம்சத்தைவிட்டுப் பிரிந்து, நேபாத்தின் மகனாகிய யெரொபெயாமை ராஜாவாக்கினார்கள்; அப்பொழுது யெரொபெயாம் இஸ்ரவேலைக் யெகோவாவைவிட்டுப் பின்வாங்கவும், பெரிய பாவத்தைச் செய்யவும் செய்தான்.
For he tore Israel from the house of David; and they made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king: and Jeroboam drove Israel from following the LORD, and made them sin a great sin.
The children of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam which he did; they did not depart from them;
23 ௨௩ யெகோவா தீர்க்கதரிசிகளாகிய தம்முடைய ஊழியக்காரர்கள் எல்லோரையும் கொண்டு சொல்லியிருந்தபடி. அவர்களைத் தமது சமுகத்தைவிட்டு அகற்றுகிறவரைக்கும், அவைகளைவிட்டு விலகாதிருந்தார்கள்; இப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலர்கள் தங்கள் தேசத்திலிருந்து அசீரியாவுக்குக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டு இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் இருக்கிறார்கள்.
until the LORD removed Israel out of his sight, as he spoke by all his servants the prophets. So Israel was carried away out of their own land to Assyria to this day.
24 ௨௪ அசீரியா ராஜா, பாபிலோனிலும், கூத்தாவிலும், ஆபாவிலும், ஆமாத்திலும், செப்பர்வாயிமிலும் இருந்து மனிதர்களை வரச்செய்து, அவர்களை இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்குப் பதிலாகச் சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேற்றினான்; இவர்கள் சமாரியாவைச் சொந்தமாகக் கட்டிக்கொண்டு அதின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியிருந்தார்கள்.
The king of Assyria brought men from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath and Sepharvaim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they possessed Samaria, and lived in the cities of it.
25 ௨௫ அவர்கள் அங்கே குடியேறினது முதல், யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயப்படாததால், யெகோவா அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சிங்கங்களை அனுப்பினார்; அவைகள் அவர்களில் சிலரைக் கொன்றுபோட்டது.
So it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that they did not fear the LORD: therefore the LORD sent lions among them, which killed some of them.
26 ௨௬ அப்பொழுது மக்கள் அசீரியா ராஜாவை நோக்கி: நீர் இங்கேயிருந்து அனுப்பி, சமாரியாவின் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேறச்செய்த மக்கள் அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அறியாததால், அவர் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே சிங்கங்களை அனுப்பினார்; அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தை அவர்கள் அறியாததால், அவைகள் அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோடுகிறது என்று சொன்னார்கள்.
Therefore they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, "The nations which you have carried away, and placed in the cities of Samaria, do not know the law of the god of the land. Therefore he has sent lions among them, and look, they kill them, because they do not know the law of the god of the land."
27 ௨௭ அதற்கு அசீரியா ராஜா: நீங்கள் அங்கேயிருந்து கொண்டுவந்த ஆசாரியர்களில் ஒருவனை அங்கே அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோங்கள்; அவர்கள் அங்கே குடியிருக்கும்படி, அவன் அவர்களுக்கு அந்த தேசத்து தேவனுடைய காரியத்தைப் போதிக்கக்கடவன் என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.
Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, "Carry there one of the cohanim whom you brought from there; and let him go and live there, and let him teach them the law of the god of the land."
28 ௨௮ அப்படியே அவர்கள் சமாரியாவிலிருந்து கொண்டுபோயிருந்த ஆசாரியர்களில் ஒருவன் வந்து, பெத்தேலிலே குடியிருந்து, யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கவேண்டிய விதத்தை அவர்களுக்குப் போதித்தான்.
So one of the cohanim whom they had carried away from Samaria came and lived in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.
29 ௨௯ ஆனாலும் அந்தந்த மக்கள் தங்கள் தங்கள் தேவர்களைத் தங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்கி, அந்தந்த மக்கள் குடியேறின தங்கள் தங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் சமாரியர்கள் உண்டாக்கிய மேடைகளின் கோவில்களில் வைத்தார்கள்.
However every nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, every nation in their cities in which they lived.
30 ௩0 பாபிலோனின் மனிதர்கள் சுக்கோத் பெனோத்தையும், கூத்தின் மனிதர்கள் நேர்காலையும், ஆமாத்தின் மனிதர்கள் அசிமாவையும்,
The men of Babylon made Succoth Benoth, and the men of Cuth made Nergal, and the men of Hamath made Ashima,
31 ௩௧ ஆவியர்கள் நிபேகாசையும் தர்தாக்கையும் உண்டாக்கினார்கள், செப்பர்வியர்கள் செப்பர்வாயிமின் தேவர்களாகிய அத்ரமலேக்குக்கும் அன்னமலேக்குக்கும் தங்கள் பிள்ளைகளை அக்கினியில் சுட்டெரித்து வந்தார்கள்.
and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak; and the Sepharvites burnt their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sepharvaim.
32 ௩௨ அவர்கள் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயந்ததுமன்றி, மேடைகளிலுள்ள கோவில்களில் தங்களுக்காக ஆராதனை செய்கிறதற்கு, தங்களுக்குள் இழிவானவர்களை ஆசாரியர்களாகவும் ஏற்படுத்தினார்கள்.
And they worshiped the LORD, yet they established their abominations in the houses of the high places which they made in Samaria, each nation in the city in which they dwelt. And they worshiped the LORD, yet appointed from among themselves priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places.
33 ௩௩ அப்படியே யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயந்தும், தாங்கள் விட்டுவந்த மக்களுடைய முறைமையின்படியே தங்கள் தேவர்களை வணங்கியும் வந்தார்கள்.
And they worshiped the LORD, yet served their own gods, after the ways of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.
34 ௩௪ இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் அவர்கள் தங்கள் முந்தின முறைகளின்படியே செய்து வருகிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கிறதுமில்லை, தங்கள் சுய திட்டங்கள் முறைமைகளின்படியாகிலும், யெகோவா இஸ்ரவேல் என்று பெயரிட்ட யாக்கோபின் மக்களுக்குக் கற்பித்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்திற்கும் கற்பனைக்கும் ஒத்தவிதமாகிலும் செய்கிறதுமில்லை.
To this day they do what they did before: they do not fear the LORD, neither do they follow their statutes, or their ordinances, or the law or the commandment which the LORD commanded the descendants of Jacob, whom he named Israel;
35 ௩௫ யெகோவா இவர்களோடு உடன்படிக்கைசெய்து, இவர்களுக்குக் கற்பித்தது என்னவென்றால்: நீங்கள் அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாமலும், அவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொள்ளாமலும், வணங்காமலும், அவர்களுக்குப் பலியிடாமலும்,
with whom the LORD had made a covenant, and commanded them, saying, "You shall not fear other gods, nor bow yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them;
36 ௩௬ உங்களை மகா வல்லமையினாலும் ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து வரச்செய்த யெகோவாவுக்கே பயந்து, அவரையே பணிந்துகொண்டு, அவருக்கே பலியிட்டு,
but you shall fear the LORD, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt with great power and with an outstretched arm, and you shall bow yourselves to him, and you shall sacrifice to him.
37 ௩௭ அவர் உங்களுக்கு எழுதிக்கொடுத்த திட்டங்கள், முறைமைகள், நியாயப்பிரமாணம், கற்பனைகள் ஆகியவற்றை நீங்கள் சகல நாளும் செய்கிறதற்குக் கவனமாயிருந்து அந்நிய தேவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படாதிருங்கள்.
The statutes and the ordinances, and the law and the commandment, which he wrote for you, you shall observe to do forevermore. You shall not fear other gods.
You shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you; neither shall you fear other gods.
39 ௩௯ உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கே பயந்து நடப்பீர்களாக; அப்பொழுது அவர் உங்களுடைய எல்லா எதிரிகளின் கைக்கும் உங்களைத் தப்புவிப்பார் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லியிருந்தார்.
But you shall fear the LORD your God; and he will deliver you out of the hand of all your enemies."
However they did not listen, but they did what they did before.
41 ௪௧ அப்படியே அந்த மக்கள் யெகோவாவுக்குப் பயந்தும், தங்கள் விக்கிரகங்களைச் சேவித்தும் வந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளின் பிள்ளைகளும் தங்கள் முன்னோர்கள் செய்தபடியே இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் செய்து வருகிறார்கள்.
So these nations feared the LORD, and served their engraved images. Their children likewise, and their children's children, as their fathers did, so they do to this day.
