Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign; and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem.
2 ௨ அவன் யெகோவாவுடைய பார்வைக்கு செம்மையானதைச் செய்து, தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் வழிகளில், வலது இடதுபுறமாக விலகாமல் நடந்தான்.
He did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.
3 ௩ அவன் தன் அரசாட்சியின் எட்டாம் வருட ஆட்சியில், தான் இன்னும் இளவயதாயிருக்கும்போது, தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் தேவனைத் தேட ஆரம்பித்து, பன்னிரண்டாம் வருடத்தில் மேடைகள், தோப்புகள், உருவங்கள், சிலைகள் ஆகிய இவைகள் இல்லாமல்போகும்படி, யூதாவையும், எருசலேமையும் தூய்மைப்படுத்தத் தொடங்கினான்.
For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the Asherim, and the engraved images, and the molten images.
4 ௪ அவனுக்கு முன்பாகப் பாகால்களின் பலிபீடங்களை இடித்தார்கள்; அவைகளின்மேலிருந்த சிலைகளை வெட்டி, விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளையும் வார்ப்பு சிலைகளையும் வெட்டப்பட்ட சிலைகளையும் உடைத்து நொறுக்கி, அவைகளுக்கு பலியிட்டவர்களுடைய கல்லறைகளின்மேல் தூவி,
They broke down the altars of the Baals in his presence; and the incense altars that were on high above them he cut down; and the Asherim, and the engraved images, and the molten images, he broke in pieces, and made dust of them, and strewed it on the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.
5 ௫ பூசாரிகளின் எலும்புகளை அவர்களுடைய பலிபீடங்களின்மேல் சுட்டெரித்து, இந்தவிதமாக யூதாவையும் எருசலேமையும் தூய்மைப்படுத்தினான்.
He burnt the bones of the priests on their altars, and purged Judah and Jerusalem.
6 ௬ அப்படியே அவன் மனாசே எப்பிராயீம் சிமியோன் என்னும் பட்டணங்களிலும், நப்தலிவரையும், பாழான அவைகளின் சுற்றுப்புறங்களிலும் செய்தான்.
He did this in the cities of Manasseh and Ephraim and Simeon, even to Naphtali, around in their ruins.
7 ௭ அவன் இஸ்ரவேல் தேசம் எங்குமுள்ள பலிபீடங்களையும் விக்கிரகத் தோப்புகளையும் இடித்து, சிலைகளை நொறுக்கித் தூளாக்கி, எல்லாச் சிலைகளையும் வெட்டிப்போட்டபின்பு எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பினான்.
He broke down the altars, and beat the Asherim and the engraved images into powder, and cut down all the incense altars throughout all the land of Israel, and returned to Jerusalem.
8 ௮ அவன் தேசத்தையும் ஆலயத்தையும் தூய்மைப்படுத்தியபின்பு, அவன் தன் அரசாட்சியின் பதினெட்டாம் வருடத்திலே, அத்சலியாவின் மகனாகிய சாப்பானையும், நகரத்தலைவனாகிய மாசெயாவையும், யோவாகாசின் மகனாகிய யோவாக் என்னும் மந்திரியையும், தன் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவின் ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்ப்பதற்கு அனுப்பினான்.
Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.
9 ௯ அவர்கள் பிரதான ஆசாரியனாகிய இல்க்கியாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, வாசற்படியைக் காக்கிற லேவியர்கள் மனாசேயிலும் எப்பிராயீமிலும் இஸ்ரவேலில் மீதியானவர்களெல்லாரின் கையிலும் யூதா பென்யமீன் எங்கும் சேர்த்து, எருசலேமுக்குத் திரும்பி தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவந்த பணத்தை ஒப்புவித்து,
They came to Hilkiah the cohen hagadol, and delivered the money that was brought into God's house, which the Levites, the keepers of the threshold, had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin, and of the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
10 ௧0 வேலையைச் செய்யவைக்க, யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்தின் விசாரிப்புக்காரரானவர்களின் கையில் அதைக் கொடுத்தார்கள்; இவர்கள் அதைக் யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்த்து ஒழுங்குபடுத்துகிறதற்கு ஆலயத்தில் வேலை செய்கிறவர்கள் கையிலே கொடுத்தார்கள்.
They delivered it into the hand of the workers who had the oversight of the house of the LORD; and the workmen who labored in the house of the LORD gave it to mend and repair the house;
11 ௧௧ அப்படியே யூதாவின் ராஜாக்கள் கெடுத்துப்போட்ட அறைகளைப் பழுதுபார்க்க, வெட்டின கற்களையும், இணைப்புக்கு மரங்களையும், பரப்புவதற்குப் பலகைகளையும் வாங்க தச்சர்களுக்கும் சிற்ப ஆசாரிகளுக்கும் அதைக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.
even to the carpenters and to the builders gave they it, to buy cut stone, and timber for couplings, and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
12 ௧௨ இந்த மனிதர்கள் வேலையை உண்மையாகச் செய்தார்கள்; வேலையை நடத்த மெராரியின் மக்களில் யாகாத், ஒபதியா என்னும் லேவியர்களும், கோகாத்தியரின் மக்களில் சகரியாவும், மெசுல்லாமும் அவர்கள்மேல் விசாரிப்புக்காரர்களாக இருந்தார்கள்; இந்த லேவியர்கள் எல்லோரும் கீதவாத்தியங்களை வாசிக்க அறிந்தவர்கள்.
The men did the work faithfully: and their overseers were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and others of the Levites, all who were skillful with instruments of music.
13 ௧௩ அவர்கள் சுமைகாரர்களை விசாரிக்கிறவர்களாகவும், பற்பல வேலைகளைச் செய்கிறவர்கள் எல்லோரையும் கண்காணிக்கிறவர்களாகவும் இருந்தார்கள்; லேவியர்களில் இன்னும் சிலர் செயலாளர்களாகவும், நிர்வாகிகளாகவும், வாசற்காவலாளருமாக இருந்தார்கள்.
Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and set forward all who did the work in every kind of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and gatekeepers.
14 ௧௪ யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவரப்பட்ட பணத்தை அவர்கள் எடுக்கிறபோது மோசேயைக்கொண்டு கட்டளையிடப்பட்ட யெகோவாவுடைய நியாயப்பிரமாணப் புத்தகத்தை ஆசாரியனாகிய இல்க்கியா கண்டெடுத்தான்.
When they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the cohen found the scroll of the law of the LORD given by Moses.
15 ௧௫ அப்பொழுது இல்க்கியா, பதிவாளனாகிய சாப்பானை நோக்கி: யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்திலே நியாயப்பிரமாணப் புத்தகத்தைக் கண்டெடுத்தேன் என்று சொல்லி, அந்தப் புத்தகத்தை சாப்பானுடைய கையில் கொடுத்தான்.
Hilkiah answered Shaphan the scribe, "I have found the scroll of the law in the house of the LORD." Hilkiah delivered the scroll to Shaphan.
16 ௧௬ சாப்பான் அந்த புத்தகத்தை ராஜாவினிடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோய், அவனை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரர்களுக்கு கட்டளையிடப்பட்டவைகளையெல்லாம் அவர்கள் செய்கிறார்கள்.
Shaphan carried the scroll to the king, and moreover brought back word to the king, saying, "All that was committed to your servants, they are doing.
17 ௧௭ யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்திலே சேர்ந்த பணத்தை அவர்கள் கூட்டி, அதை விசாரிப்புக்காரர்கள் கையிலும், வேலை செய்கிறவர்கள் கையிலும் கொடுத்தார்கள் என்று ராஜாவுக்கு மறுசெய்தி சொன்னதும் அல்லாமல்,
They have emptied out the money that was found in the house of the LORD, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and into the hand of the workmen."
18 ௧௮ ஆசாரியனாகிய இல்க்கியா என் கையில் ஒரு புத்தகத்தைக் கொடுத்தான் என்பதைப் பதிவாளனாகிய சாப்பான் ராஜாவுக்கு அறிவித்து, ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக அதை வாசித்தான்.
Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, "Hilkiah the cohen has given me a scroll." Shaphan read it before the king.
It happened, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he tore his clothes.
20 ௨0 இல்க்கியாவுக்கும், சாப்பானின் மகனாகிய அகீக்காமுக்கும், மீகாவின் மகனாகிய அப்தோனுக்கும், பதிவாளனாகிய சாப்பானுக்கும், ராஜாவின் வேலைக்காரனாகிய அசாயாவுக்கும் கட்டளையிட்டுச் சொன்னது:
The king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Acbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying,
21 ௨௧ கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட இந்தப் புத்தகத்தினுடைய வார்த்தைகளினிமித்தம் நீங்கள் போய், எனக்காகவும், இஸ்ரவேலிலும், யூதாவிலும் மீதியானவர்களுக்காகவும் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரியுங்கள்; இந்தப் புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிற எல்லாவற்றின்படியேயும் செய்யும்படிக்கு யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தையை நம்முடைய முன்னோர்கள் கைக்கொள்ளாமல் போனதால், நம்மேல் மூண்ட யெகோவாவுடைய கடுங்கோபம் பெரியது என்றான்.
"Go inquire of the LORD for me, and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found; for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do according to all that is written in this scroll."
22 ௨௨ அப்பொழுது இல்க்கியாவும் ராஜா அனுப்பின மற்றவர்களும் அஸ்ராவின் மகனாகிய திக்வாதின் மகனான சல்லூம் என்னும் ஆடைகள் வைக்கும் அறைகளின் கண்காணிப்பாளனின் மனைவியாகிய உல்தாள் என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசியானவளிடம் போனார்கள்; அவள் எருசலேமில் இரண்டாம் பகுதியிலே குடியிருந்தாள்; அவளோடு அதைக்குறித்துப் பேசினார்கள்.
So Hilkiah and those whom the king had sent went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she lived in Jerusalem in the second quarter; ) and they spoke to her to that effect.
23 ௨௩ அவள் இவர்களை நோக்கி: உங்களை என்னிடம் அனுப்பினவருக்கு நீங்கள் சொல்லவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா உரைக்கிறதாவது,
She said to them, "Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: 'Tell the man who sent you to me,
24 ௨௪ இதோ, யூதாவின் ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாக வாசிக்கப்பட்ட புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிற அனைத்து சாபங்களுமாகிய பொல்லாப்பை நான் இந்த இடத்தின்மேலும் இதன் மக்களின்மேலும் வரச்செய்வேன்.
"Thus says the LORD, 'Look, I will bring disaster on this place, and on its inhabitants, even all the curses that are written in the scroll which they have read before the king of Judah.
25 ௨௫ அவர்கள் என்னைவிட்டு, தங்கள் கைகளின் செயல்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலும் எனக்குக் கோபம் உண்டாக்க வேறே தெய்வங்களுக்குத் தூபங்காட்டினதால், என் கடுங்கோபம் தணிந்து போகாமலிருக்க இந்த இடத்தின்மேல் இறங்கும் என்று யெகோவா உரைக்கிறார்.
Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore is my wrath poured out on this place, and it shall not be quenched.'"'
26 ௨௬ கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரிக்கிறதற்கு உங்களை அனுப்பின யூதாவின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் நீங்கள் போய்: நீ கேட்ட வார்த்தைகளைக்குறித்து இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்,
But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, thus you shall tell him, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: "As touching the words which you have heard,
27 ௨௭ இந்த இடத்திற்கும் அதன் மக்களுக்கும் விரோதமாக தேவன் சொன்ன அவருடைய வார்த்தைகளை நீ கேட்கும்போது, உன் இருதயம் இளகி, எனக்கு முன்பாக நீ உன்னைத் தாழ்த்தி, எனக்கு முன்பாகப் பணிந்து, உன் ஆடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு, எனக்கு முன்பாக அழுததால், நானும் உன் விண்ணப்பத்தைக் கேட்டேன் என்று யெகோவா சொல்லுகிறார்.
because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before God, when you heard his words against this place, and against its inhabitants, and have humbled yourself before me, and have torn your clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard you," says the LORD.
28 ௨௮ இதோ, நான் இந்த இடத்தின்மேலும் இதன் மக்களின்மேலும் வரச்செய்யும் எல்லாப் பொல்லாப்பையும் உன் கண்கள் காணாதபடிக்கு, நீ சமாதானத்தோடு உன் கல்லறையில் சேர்க்கப்பட நான் உன்னை உன் முன்னோர்களுக்கு அருகில் சேரச்செய்வேன் என்கிறார் என்று சொன்னாள்; அவர்கள் ராஜாவுக்கு மறுசெய்தி கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.
"Look, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace, neither shall your eyes see all the disaster that I will bring on this place, and on its inhabitants."'" They brought back word to the king.
Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
30 ௩0 ராஜாவும், அனைத்து யூதா மனிதர்களும், எருசலேமின் மக்களும், ஆசாரியர்களும், லேவியர்களும், பெரியோர்முதல் சிறியோர் வரையுள்ள அனைவரும் யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்; யெகோவாவுடைய ஆலயத்திலே கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட உடன்படிக்கைப் புத்தகத்தின் வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் அவர்கள் காதுகள் கேட்க வாசித்தான்.
The king went up to the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the cohanim, and the Levites, and all the people, both great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the scroll of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.
31 ௩௧ ராஜா தன் ஸ்தானத்திலே நின்று, அந்தப் புத்தகத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிற உடன்படிக்கையின் வார்த்தைகளின்படியே தன் செயல்கள் மூலமாகக் யெகோவாவைப் பின்பற்றி நடப்பேன் என்றும், தன் முழு இருதயத்தோடும், தன் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும், அவருடைய கற்பனைகளையும், அவருடைய சாட்சிகளையும் அவருடைய கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளுவேன் என்றும் யெகோவாவுடைய சந்நிதியில் உடன்படிக்கைசெய்து,
The king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this scroll.
32 ௩௨ எருசலேமிலும் பென்யமீனிலும் காணப்பட்ட யாவரையும் அதற்கு இணங்கச்செய்தான்; அப்படியே எருசலேமின் மக்கள் தங்கள் முன்னோர்களின் தேவனாகிய அந்த தேவனுடைய உடன்படிக்கையின்படியே செய்தார்கள்.
He caused all who were found in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand. The inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
33 ௩௩ யோசியா இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுடைய தேசங்கள் எங்கும் உண்டான அருவருப்புகளையெல்லாம் அகற்றி. இஸ்ரவேலிலே காணப்பட்டவர்களையெல்லாம் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவை ஆராதிக்கச் செய்தான்; அவன் உயிரோடிருந்த நாட்களெல்லாம் அவர்கள் தங்கள் முன்னோர்களின் தேவனாகிய யெகோவாவைவிட்டுப் பின்வாங்கினதில்லை.
Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all who were found in Israel to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. All his days they did not depart from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
