1 சாமுவேல் 8

1 ௧ சாமுவேல் முதிர்வயதானபோது, தன் மகன்களை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் நியாயாதிபதிகளாக வைத்தான்.

And it came to pass when Samuel was old, that he appointed his sons to be judges over Israel.

2 ௨ அவனுடைய மூத்தமகனின் பெயர் யோவேல், இளையமகனின் பெயர் அபியா; அவர்கள் பெயெர்செபாவிலே நியாயாதிபதிகளாக இருந்தார்கள்.

Now the name of his firstborn son was Joel: and the name of the second was Abia, judges in Bersabee.

3 ௩ ஆனாலும் அவனுடைய மகன்கள் அவனுடைய வழிகளில் நடக்காமல், பொருளாசைக்குச் சாய்ந்து, லஞ்சம் வாங்கி, நியாயத்தைப் புரட்டினார்கள்.

And his sons walked not in his ways: but they turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgment.

4 ௪ அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் மூப்பர்கள் எல்லோரும் கூட்டம்கூடி, ராமாவிலிருந்த சாமுவேலிடத்தில் வந்து:

Then all the ancients of Israel being assembled, came to Samuel to Ramatha.

5 ௫ இதோ, நீர் முதிர்வயதானீர்; உம்முடைய மகன்கள் உம்முடைய வழிகளில் நடக்கிறதில்லை; ஆகையால் எல்லா ஜாதிகளுக்குள்ளும் இருக்கிறபடி, எங்களை நியாயம் விசாரிக்க, ஒரு ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்தவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

And they said to him: Behold thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: make us a king, to judge us, as all nations have.

6 ௬ எங்களை நியாயம் விசாரிக்க ஒரு ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்தும் என்று அவர்கள் சொன்ன வார்த்தை சாமுவேலுக்குத் தவறானதாக தோன்றினது; ஆகையால் சாமுவேல் யெகோவாவை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம் செய்தான்.

And the word was displeasing in the eyes of Samuel, that they should say: Give us a king, to judge us. And Samuel prayed to the Lord.

7 ௭ அப்பொழுது யெகோவா சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: மக்கள் உன்னிடத்தில் சொல்வதெல்லாவற்றிலும் அவர்கள் சொல்லைக் கேள்; அவர்கள் உன்னைத் தள்ளவில்லை, நான் அவர்களை ஆளாதபடி, என்னைத்தான் தள்ளினார்கள்.

And the Lord said to Samuel: Hearken to the voice of the people in all that they say to thee. For they have not rejected thee, but me, that I should not reign over them.

8 ௮ நான் அவர்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட நாள்முதல் இந்த நாள்வரை அவர்கள் என்னைவிட்டு, வேறே தேவர்களை ஆராதித்துவந்த தங்கள் எல்லாச் செயல்களின்படி செய்ததுபோல, அவர்கள் உனக்கும் செய்கிறார்கள்.

According to all their works, they have done from the day that I brought them out of Egypt until this day: as they have forsaken me, and served strange gods, so do they also unto thee.

9 ௯ இப்பொழுதும் அவர்கள் சொல்லைக்கேள்; ஆனாலும் உன் விருப்பத்தைக் காட்டும்படி அவர்களை ஆளும் ராஜாவின் விதம் என்னவென்று அவர்களுக்கு வலியுறுத்தி தெரியப்படுத்து என்றார்.

Now therefore hearken to their voice: but yet testify to them, and foretell them the right of the king, that shall reign over them.

10 ௧0 அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல், ஒரு ராஜா வேண்டும் என்று தன்னிடத்தில் கேட்ட மக்களுக்குக் யெகோவாவுடைய வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் சொல்லி:

Then Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people that had desired a king of him,

11 ௧௧ உங்களை ஆளும் ராஜாவின் காரியம் என்னவென்றால், தன்னுடைய ரதத்திற்கு முன் ஓடும்படி அவன் உங்கள் மகன்களை எடுத்து, தன்னுடைய ரதங்களை ஓட்டுபவர்களாகவும் தன்னுடைய குதிரை வீரர்களாகவும் வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவான்.

And said: This will be the right of the king, that shall reign over you: He will take your sons, and put them in his chariots, and will make them his horsemen, and his running footmen to run before his chariots,

12 ௧௨ 1,000 பேருக்கும் 50 பேருக்கும் தலைவராகவும், தன்னுடைய நிலத்தை உழுகிறவர்களாகவும், தன்னுடைய விளைச்சலை அறுக்கிறவர்களாகவும், தன்னுடைய யுத்த ஆயுதங்களையும் தன்னுடைய ரதங்களின் உபகரணங்களையும் செய்கிறவர்களாகவும், அவர்களை வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவான்.

And he will appoint of them to be his tribunes, and centurions, and to plough his fields, and to reap his corn, and to make him arms and chariots.

13 ௧௩ உங்கள் மகள்களைப் பரிமளதைலம் செய்கிறவர்களாகவும், சமையல்செய்கிறவர்களாகவும், அப்பம் சுடுகிறவர்களாகவும் வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவான்.

Your daughters also he will take to make him ointments, and to be his cooks, and bakers.

14 ௧௪ உங்களுடைய வயல்களிலும், உங்களுடைய திராட்சை தோட்டங்களிலும், உங்களுடைய ஒலிவத்தோப்புக்களிலும், நல்லவைகளை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, தன்னுடைய ஊழியக்காரர்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பான்.

And he will take your fields, and your vineyards, and your best oliveyards, and give them to his servants.

15 ௧௫ உங்களுடைய தானியத்திலும் உங்களுடைய திராட்சை பலனிலும் தசமபாகம் வாங்கி, தன்னுடைய அதிகாரிகளுக்கும் தன்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களுக்கும் கொடுப்பான்.

Moreover he will take the tenth of your corn, and of the revenues of your vineyards, to give his eunuchs and servants.

16 ௧௬ உங்களுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களையும், உங்களுடைய வேலைக்காரிகளையும், உங்களில் திறமையான வாலிபர்களையும், உங்களுடைய கழுதைகளையும் எடுத்து தன்னுடைய வேலைக்கு வைத்துக்கொள்ளுவான்.

Your servants also and handmaids, and your goodliest young men, and your asses he will take away, and put them to his work.

17 ௧௭ உங்கள் ஆடுகளிலே பத்தில் ஒன்று எடுத்துக்கொள்ளுவான்; நீங்கள் அவனுக்கு வேலையாட்களாவீர்கள்.

Your flocks also he will tithe, and you shall be his servants.

18 ௧௮ நீங்கள் தெரிந்துகொண்ட உங்கள் ராஜாவினால் அந்த நாளிலே முறையிடுவீர்கள்; ஆனாலும் யெகோவா அந்த நாளிலே உங்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கமாட்டார் என்றான்.

And you shall cry out in that day from the face of the king, whom you have chosen to yourselves. and the Lord will not hear you in that day, because you desired unto yourselves a king.

19 ௧௯ மக்கள் சாமுவேலின் சொல்லைக் கேட்க மனம் இல்லாமல்: அப்படியல்ல, எங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜா இருக்கத்தான் வேண்டும்.

But the people would not hear the voice of Samuel, and they said: Nay: but there shall be a king over us.

20 ௨0 எல்லா மக்களையும்போல நாங்களும் இருப்போம்; எங்கள் ராஜா எங்களை நியாயம் விசாரித்து, எங்களுக்கு முன்பாகப் புறப்பட்டு, எங்கள் யுத்தங்களை நடத்தவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

And we also will be like all nations: and our king shall judge us, and go out before us, and tight our battles for us.

21 ௨௧ சாமுவேல் மக்களின் வார்த்தைகளையெல்லாம் கேட்டு, அவைகளைக் யெகோவாவிடத்தில் தெரியப்படுத்தினான்.

And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and rehearsed them in the ears of the Lord.

22 ௨௨ யெகோவா சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நீ அவர்கள் சொல்லைக் கேட்டு, அவர்களை ஆள ஒரு ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்து என்றார்; அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களைப் பார்த்து: அவரவர்கள் தங்கள் ஊர்களுக்குப் போகலாம் என்றான்.

And the Lord said to Samuel: Hearken to their voice, and make them a king. And Samuel said to the men of Israel: Let every man go to his city.
