1 ௧ அடுத்த வருடம், ராஜாக்கள் யுத்தத்திற்குப் புறப்படும் காலம் வந்தபோது, யோவாப் இராணுவ பலத்தைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், அம்மோனியர்களின் தேசத்தை அழித்து ரப்பாவுக்கு வந்து அதை முற்றுகையிட்டான்; தாவீதோ எருசலேமில் இருந்துவிட்டான்; யோவாப் ரப்பாவைத் தாக்கி அதைத் தோற்கடித்தான்.

And it came to pass after the course of a year, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab gathered together an army and the strength of the troops, and wasted the land of the children of Ammon: and went and besieged Rabba. But David stayed at Jerusalem, when Joab smote Rabba, and destroyed it.

2 ௨ தாவீது வந்து, அவர்கள் ராஜாவுடைய தலையின்மேல் இருந்த கிரீடத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்; அது ஒரு தாலந்து எடையுள்ள பொன்னும் இரத்தினங்கள் பதித்ததுமாகவும் இருந்தது; அது தாவீதின் தலையில் வைக்கப்பட்டது; பட்டணத்திலிருந்து ஏராளமான கொள்ளைப் பொருட்களையும் கொண்டுபோனான்.

And David took the crown of Melchom from his head, and found in it a talent weight of gold, and most precious stones, and he made himself a diadem of it: he took also the spoils of the city which were very great.

3 ௩ பின்பு அதிலிருந்த மக்களை அவன் வெளியே கொண்டுபோய், அவர்களை வாள்களும், கடப்பாரைகளும், கோடரிகளும் செய்கிற பணியில் பலவந்தமாக உட்படுத்தி; இப்படி அம்மோனிய மக்களின் பட்டணங்களுக்கெல்லாம் தாவீது செய்து, எல்லா மக்களோடு எருசலேமிற்குத் திரும்பினான்.

And the people that were therein he brought out: and made harrows, and sleds, and chariots of iron to go over them, so that they were cut and bruised to pieces: in this manner David dealt with all the cities of the children of Ammon: and he returned with alibis people to Jerusalem.

4 ௪ அதற்குப்பின்பு கேசேரிலே பெலிஸ்தர்களோடு யுத்தம் உண்டாயிற்று; அப்பொழுது ஊசாத்தியனாகிய சிப்பெக்காய் இராட்சத சந்ததியர்களில் ஒருவனான சிப்பாயி என்பவனைக் கொன்றான்; அதினால் அவர்கள் அடக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

After this there arose a war at Gazer against the Philistines: in which Sabachai the Husathite slew Saphai of the race of Raphaim, and humbled them.

5 ௫ திரும்பப் பெலிஸ்தர்களோடு யுத்தம் உண்டாகிறபோது, யாவீரின் மகனாகிய எல்க்கானான் காத்தூரானாகிய கோலியாத்தின் சகோதரனான லாகேமியைக் கொன்றான்; அவனுடைய ஈட்டிக் தாங்கு நெய்கிறவர்களின் படைமரம் அளவு பெரிதாக இருந்தது.

Another battle also was fought against the Philistines, in which Adeodatus the son of Saltus a Bethlehemite slew the brother of Goliath the Gethite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

6 ௬ மறுபடியும் ஒரு யுத்தம் காத்திலே நடந்தபோது, அங்கே உயரமான ஒரு மனிதன் இருந்தான்; அவனுக்கு ஆறு ஆறு விரலாக இருபத்துநான்கு விரல்கள் இருந்தது, அவனும் இராட்சத சந்ததியாக இருந்து,

There was another battle also in Geth, in which there was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand and foot: who also was born of the stock of Rapha.

7 ௭ இஸ்ரவேலை சபித்தான்; தாவீதின் சகோதரனாகிய சிமேயாவின் மகன் யோனத்தான் அவனைக் கொன்றான்.

He reviled Israel: but Jonathan the son of Samaa the brother of David slew him.

8 ௮ காத்தூரிலிருந்த இராட்சதனுக்குப் பிறந்த இவர்கள் தாவீதின் கையினாலும் அவனுடைய வீரர்களின் கையினாலும் இறந்தார்கள்.

These were the sons of Rapha in Geth, who fell by the hand of David and his servants.
