நீதிமொழிகள் 4

1 பிள்ளைகளே, தகப்பனின் அறிவுரைகளைக் கேளுங்கள்; கவனமாயிருந்து புரிந்துகொள்ளுதலைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளுங்கள்.

Listen, sons, to a father’s instruction. Pay attention and know understanding;

2 நான் உங்களுக்கு நல்ல ஆலோசனையைத் தருகிறேன், எனவே நீங்கள் எனது போதனைகளைக் கைவிடாதிருங்கள்.

for I give you sound learning. Don’t forsake my law.

3 நான் எனது தகப்பனுக்குச் செல்ல மகனாய், என் தாய்க்கு அருமையான ஒரே பிள்ளையாய் வளர்ந்து வந்தேன்.

For I was a son to my father, tender and an only child in the sight of my mother.

4 அப்பொழுது என் தகப்பன் எனக்குப் போதித்துச் சொன்னதாவது: “நான் சொல்லும் வார்த்தைகளை உன் இருதயத்தில் வைத்துக்கொள்; நீ என் கட்டளைகளைக் கைக்கொள், அப்பொழுது நீ வாழ்வாய்.

He taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words. Keep my commandments, and live.

5 ஞானத்தையும் புரிந்துகொள்ளுதலையும் பெற்றுக்கொள்; எனது வார்த்தைகளை மறக்காமலும் அவற்றைவிட்டு விலகாமலும் இரு.

Get wisdom. Get understanding. Don’t forget, and don’t deviate from the words of my mouth.

6 நீ ஞானத்தை விட்டுவிடாதே, அது உன்னைப் பாதுகாக்கும்; அதை நேசி, அது உன்னை காத்துக்கொள்ளும்.

Don’t forsake her, and she will preserve you. Love her, and she will keep you.

7 ஞானத்தைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்வதே ஞானத்தின் ஆரம்பம்; உன்னிடம் உள்ளதையெல்லாம் செலவழிக்க வேண்டியதானாலும் புரிந்துகொள்ளுதலைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்.

Wisdom is supreme. Get wisdom. Yes, though it costs all your possessions, get understanding.

8 நீ அதை மதித்து நட, அது உன்னை மேன்மைப்படுத்தும்; நீ அதை அணைத்துக்கொள், அப்பொழுது அது உன்னைக் கனப்படுத்தும்.

Esteem her, and she will exalt you. She will bring you to honour when you embrace her.

9 அது உன் தலையில் அழகான மலர் முடியைச் சூட்டும், அது உனக்கு சிறப்புமிக்க மகுடத்தைக் கொடுக்கும்.”

She will give to your head a garland of grace. She will deliver a crown of splendour to you.”

10 என் மகனே, கேள், நான் சொல்வதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்; அப்பொழுது உன் வாழ்நாட்கள் நீடித்திருக்கும்.

Listen, my son, and receive my sayings. The years of your life will be many.

11 நான் ஞானத்தின் வழியை உனக்குக் காட்டி, நேரான பாதையில் உன்னை வழிநடத்துகிறேன்.

I have taught you in the way of wisdom. I have led you in straight paths.

12 நீ நடக்கும்போது, உன் கால்கள் தடுமாறாது; நீ ஓடும்போது இடறி விழமாட்டாய்.

When you go, your steps will not be hampered. When you run, you will not stumble.

13 அறிவுரைகளைப் பற்றிக்கொள், அவற்றை விட்டுவிடாதே; அதை நன்றாகக் காத்துக்கொள், அதுவே உன் வாழ்வு.

Take firm hold of instruction. Don’t let her go. Keep her, for she is your life.

14 கொடியவர்களின் பாதையில் அடியெடுத்து வைக்காதே; தீய மனிதர்களின் வழியில் நீ நடக்காதே.

Don’t enter into the path of the wicked. Don’t walk in the way of evil men.

15 அதைத் தவிர்த்துவிடு, அதில் பயணம் செய்யாதே; அதைவிட்டுத் திரும்பி உன் வழியே செல்.

Avoid it, and don’t pass by it. Turn from it, and pass on.

16 ஏனெனில் தீமைசெய்யும்வரை அவர்கள் உறங்கமாட்டார்கள்; யாரையாவது விழப்பண்ணும்வரை அவர்கள் நித்திரை செய்யமாட்டார்கள்.

For they don’t sleep unless they do evil. Their sleep is taken away, unless they make someone fall.

17 அவர்கள் கொடுமையின் உணவைச் சாப்பிட்டு, வன்முறையின் மதுவைக் குடிக்கிறார்கள்.

For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

18 நீதிமான்களின் பாதை நடுப்பகல் வரைக்கும் மேன்மேலும் பிரகாசிக்கிற சூரியப் பிரகாசத்தைப் போன்றது.

But the path of the righteous is like the dawning light that shines more and more until the perfect day.

19 ஆனால் கொடியவர்களின் வழியோ காரிருளைப் போன்றது; அவர்கள் தங்களை இடறப்பண்ணுவது எது என்பதை அறியார்கள்.

The way of the wicked is like darkness. They don’t know what they stumble over.

20 என் மகனே, நான் சொல்வதைக் கவனி; நான் சொல்லும் வார்த்தைகளுக்குச் செவிகொடு.

My son, attend to my words. Turn your ear to my sayings.

21 அவற்றை உன் பார்வையிலிருந்து விலகவிடாதே, அவற்றை உன் இருதயத்திற்குள் வைத்துக்கொள்;

Let them not depart from your eyes. Keep them in the centre of your heart.

22 அவற்றைக் கண்டுபிடிப்பவர்களுக்கு அவை வாழ்வாக இருக்கும்; அவை மனிதரின் முழு உடலுக்கும் நலனளிக்கும்.

For they are life to those who find them, and health to their whole body.

23 எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மேலாக, உன் இருதயத்தைக் காத்துக்கொள், அதிலிருந்து நீ செய்யும் எல்லாமே உனது வாழ்வின் ஊற்றாகப் புறப்பட்டு வரும்.

Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.

24 வஞ்சகத்தை உன் வாயிலிருந்து அகற்று, சீர்கேடான பேச்சுக்களை உன் உதடுகளிலிருந்து தூரமாய் விலக்கு.

Put away from yourself a perverse mouth. Put corrupt lips far from you.

25 உன் கண்கள் நேராய் பார்க்கட்டும்; உனக்கு முன்பாக இருப்பதில் உன் பார்வையை செலுத்து.

Let your eyes look straight ahead. Fix your gaze directly before you.

26 உன் பாதங்களுக்கு ஒழுங்கான பாதைகளை அமைத்துக்கொள்; அப்பொழுது உன் வழிகளெல்லாம் உறுதியாயிருக்கும்.

Make the path of your feet level. Let all of your ways be established.

27 நீ இடது பக்கமோ, வலதுபக்கமோ விலகாதே; உன் கால்களைத் தீமையிலிருந்து விலக்கிக்கொள்.

Don’t turn to the right hand nor to the left. Remove your foot from evil.
