எஸ்தர் 6
1 அன்று இரவு அரசனால் நித்திரை செய்ய முடியவில்லை, எனவே அவன் தனது அரசாட்சியின் நிகழ்வுகளின் பதிவேடாகிய வரலாற்றுப் புத்தகத்தைக் கொண்டுவந்து தனக்கு வாசித்துக் காட்டும்படி கட்டளையிட்டான்.
On that night, the king couldn’t sleep. He commanded the book of records of the chronicles to be brought, and they were read to the king.
2 அதில், அகாஸ்வேரு அரசனைக் கொலைசெய்வதற்கு சதித்திட்டம் தீட்டியிருந்த வாசல் காவலர்களான, அரசனின் அதிகாரிகள் பிக்தானா, தேரேசு ஆகிய இருவரையும், மொர்தெகாய் காட்டிக் கொடுத்திருந்ததாக பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டிருந்தது.
It was found written that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs, who were doorkeepers, who had tried to lay hands on the King Ahasuerus.
3 அப்பொழுது அரசன், “இதற்காக என்ன கனமும், மதிப்பும் மொர்தெகாய்க்குக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது?” எனக் கேட்டான். அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய பணிவிடைக்காரர், “அவனுக்கு ஒன்றும் செய்யப்படவில்லை” என்று சொன்னார்கள்.
The king said, “What honour and dignity has been given to Mordecai for this?” Then the king’s servants who attended him said, “Nothing has been done for him.”
4 அரசன், “முற்றத்தில் நிற்பது யார்?” என்று கேட்டான். அதேவேளையில் ஆமான் தான் நிறுத்தியிருந்த தூக்கு மரத்தில் மொர்தெகாயைத் தூக்கிலிடுவது பற்றிப் பேசுவதற்கு அரண்மனையின் வெளிமுற்றத்திற்குள் வந்திருந்தான்.
The king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had come into the outer court of the king’s house, to speak to the king about hanging Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.
5 அரசனின் ஏவலாட்கள், “முற்றத்தில் ஆமான் நின்று கொண்டிருக்கிறான்” என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அரசன், “அவனைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள்” என்று கட்டளையிட்டான்.
The king’s servants said to him, “Behold, Haman stands in the court.” The king said, “Let him come in.”
6 ஆமான் வந்தபோது, அரசன் அவனிடம், “அரசன் கனம்பண்ண விரும்புகிற ஒருவனுக்கு என்ன செய்யப்படவேண்டும்?” எனக் கேட்டான். அப்பொழுது ஆமான், “என்னைத்தவிர வேறு யாரை அரசன் கனம்பண்ண விரும்புவான்” என தனக்குள்ளே நினைத்தான்.
So Haman came in. The king said to him, “What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honour?” Now Haman said in his heart, “Who would the king delight to honour more than myself?”
7 அதனால் ஆமான் அரசனிடம், “அரசன் கனம்பண்ண விரும்பும் மனிதனுக்கு செய்யப்பட வேண்டியதாவது:
Haman said to the king, “For the man whom the king delights to honour,
8 உமது பணிவிடைக்காரர் அரசர் அணியும் அரச உடையையும், தலையில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் அரச கிரீடமும், அரசர் சவாரி செய்யும் குதிரையையும் கொண்டுவரட்டும்.
let royal clothing be brought which the king uses to wear, and the horse that the king rides on, and on the head of which a royal crown is set.
9 பின்பு அந்த உடையும், குதிரையும் மிக உயர்ந்த பிரபுக்களில் ஒருவருடைய கையில் கொடுக்கப்படட்டும். அரசர் கனம்பண்ணுகிற மனிதனுக்கு அவர்கள் அந்த உடையை அணிவித்து, அவனைக் குதிரையின்மேல் அமர்த்தி, பட்டணத்துத் தெருக்கள் எங்கும் வழிநடத்தட்டும். அப்பொழுது, ‘அரசர் கனம்பண்ணும் மனிதனுக்கு செய்யப்படுவது இதுவே’ என்று அவனுக்கு முன்பாகப் பிரசித்தப்படுத்தட்டும்” என்றான்.
Let the clothing and the horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man whom the king delights to honour with them, and have him ride on horseback through the city square, and proclaim before him, ‘Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honour!’”
10 அப்பொழுது அரசன், “உடனடியாகப்போய் உடையையும், குதிரையையும் கொண்டுவந்து, நீ கூறியபடியே அரச வாசலில் இருக்கிற யூதனான மொர்தெகாய்க்குச் செய். நீ சிபாரிசு செய்த எதையும் செய்யாமல் விடவேண்டாம்” என்று ஆமானுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டான்.
Then the king said to Haman, “Hurry and take the clothing and the horse, as you have said, and do this for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.”
11 எனவே ஆமான் உடையையும், குதிரையையும் பெற்றுக்கொண்டு, மொர்தெகாய்க்கு உடையை உடுத்தி அவனைக் குதிரையில் அமர்த்தி, பட்டணத்தின் தெருக்களெங்கும் நடத்திக் கொண்டுபோனான். அவன், “அரசன் கனம்பண்ண விரும்புகிற மனிதனுக்கு செய்யப்படுவது இதுவே” என்று அவனுக்கு முன்பாக அறிவித்தான்.
Then Haman took the clothing and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and had him ride through the city square, and proclaimed before him, “Thus it shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honour!”
12 அதன்பின் மொர்தெகாய் அரசனின் வாசலுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போனான். ஆமானோ துக்கத்துடன் தலை கவிழ்ந்து கொண்டு தன் வீட்டுக்கு விரைந்து சென்றான்.
Mordecai came back to the king’s gate, but Haman hurried to his house, mourning and having his head covered.
13 ஆமான் தன் மனைவி சிரேஷிடமும், தன் நண்பர்கள் அனைவரிடமும் தனக்கு நடந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் சொன்னான். அவனுடைய ஆலோசகர்களும், அவனுடைய மனைவி சிரேஷும் அவனிடம், “மொர்தெகாய்க்கு முன்பாக உமது வீழ்ச்சி ஆரம்பமாகி விட்டது. அவன் ஒரு யூத நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்தவன் என்பதால், அவனுக்கு விரோதமாக உம்மால் நிற்கமுடியாது. நீர் நிச்சயமாகவே வீழ்ச்சியடைவீர்” என்றார்கள்.
Haman recounted to Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, “If Mordecai, before whom you have begun to fall, is of Jewish descent, you will not prevail against him, but you will surely fall before him.”
14 அவர்கள் இன்னும் அவனுடன் பேசிக்கொண்டு நிற்கையில் அரசனின் அதிகாரிகள் வந்து, எஸ்தர் ஆயத்தப்படுத்தியிருந்த விருந்துக்கு ஆமானை விரைவாய் அழைத்துச் சென்றார்கள்.
While they were yet talking with him, the king’s eunuchs came, and hurried to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
