4 Mosebok 32
1 Och Rubens barn och Gads barn hade stora och mycket talrika boskapshjordar; och när de sågo Jaesers land och Gileads land, funno de att detta var en trakt för boskap.
And the children of Ruben and the children of Gad had a multitude of cattle, very great; and they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Galaad; and the place was a place for cattle:
2 Då kommo Gads barn och Rubens barn och sade till Mose och prästen Eleasar och menighetens hövdingar:
and the children of Ruben and the children of Gad came, and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,
3 "Atarot, Dibon, Jaeser, Nimra, Hesbon, Eleale, Sebam, Nebo och Beon,
Ataroth, and Daebon, and Jazer, and Namra, and Esebon, and Eleale, and Sebama, and Nabau, and Baean,
4 det land som HERREN har låtit Israels menighet intaga, är ett land för boskap, och dina tjänare hava boskap."
the land which the Lord has delivered up before the children of Israel, is pasture land, and thy servants have cattle.
5 Och de sade ytterligare: "Om vi hava funnit nåd inför dina ögon så må detta land givas åt dina tjänare till besittning. Låt oss slippa att gå över Jordan."
And they said, If we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given to thy servants for a possession, and do not cause us to pass over Jordan.
6 Men Mose sade till Gads barn och Rubens barn: "Skolen då I stanna här, under det att edra bröder draga ut i krig?
And Moses said to the sons of Gad and the sons of Ruben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?
7 Varför viljen I avvända Israels barns hjärtan från att gå över floden, in i det land som HERREN har givit åt dem?
And why do ye pervert the minds of the children of Israel, that they should not cross over into the land, which the Lord gives them?
8 Så gjorde ock edra fäder, när jag sände dem från Kades-Barnea för att bese landet:
Did not your fathers thus, when I sent them from Cades Barne to spy out the land?
9 sedan de hade dragit upp till Druvdalen och besett landet, avvände de Israels barns hjärtan från att gå in i det land som HERREN hade givit åt dem.
And they went up to the valley of the cluster, and spied the land, and turned aside the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land, which the Lord gave them.
10 Och på den dagen upptändes HERRENS vrede, och han svor och sade:
And the Lord was very angry in that day, and sware, saying,
11 'Av de män som hava dragit upp ur Egypten skall ingen som är tjugu år gammal eller därutöver få se det land som jag med ed har lovat åt Abraham, Isak och Jakob -- eftersom de icke i allt hava efterföljt mig
Surely these men who came up out of Egypt from twenty years old and upward, who know good and evil, shall not see the land which I sware [to give] to Abraam and Isaac and Jacob, for they have not closely followed after me:
12 ingen förutom Kaleb, Jefunnes son, kenaséen, och Josua, Nuns son; ty de hava i allt efterföljt HERREN.'
save Caleb the son of Jephonne, who was set apart, and Joshua the son of Naue, for they closely followed after the Lord.
13 Så upptändes HERRENS vrede mot Israel, och han lät dem driva omkring i öknen i fyrtio år, till dess att hela det släkte hade dött bort som hade gjort vad ont var i HERRENS ögon.
And the Lord was very angry with Israel; and for forty years he caused them to wander in the wilderness, until all the generation which did evil in the sight of the Lord was extinct.
14 Och se, nu haven I trätt i edra fäders fotspår, I, syndiga mäns avföda, och öken så ännu mer HERRENS vredes glöd mot Israel.
Behold, ye are risen up in the room of your fathers, a combination of sinful men, to increase yet farther the fierce wrath of the Lord against Israel.
15 Då I nu vänden eder bort ifrån honom, skall han låta Israel ännu längre bliva kvar i öknen, och I dragen så fördärv över allt detta folk."
For ye will turn away from him to desert him yet once more in the wilderness, and ye will sin against this whole congregation.
16 Då trädde de fram till honom och sade: "Låt oss här bygga gårdar åt var boskap och städer åt våra kvinnor och barn.
And they came to him, and said, We will build here folds for our cattle, and cities for our possessions;
17 Själva vilja vi sedan skyndsamt väpna oss och gå åstad i spetsen för Israels barn, till dess vi hava fört dem dit de skola. Under tiden kunna våra kvinnor och barn bo i de befästa städerna och så vara skyddade mot landets inbyggare.
and we will arm ourselves and go as an advanced guard before the children of Israel, until we shall have brought them into their place; and our possessions shall remain in walled cities because of the inhabitants of the land.
18 Vi skola icke vända tillbaka hem, förrän Israels barn hava fått var och en sin arvedel.
We will not return to our houses till the children of Israel shall have been distributed, each to his own inheritance.
19 Ty vi vilja icke taga vår arvedel jämte dem, på andra sidan Jordan och längre bort, utan vår arvedel har tillfallit oss här på andra sidan Jordan, på östra sidan."
And we will not any longer inherit with them from the other side of Jordan and onwards, because we have our full inheritance on the side beyond Jordan eastward.
20 Mose svarade dem: "Om I gören såsom I nu haven sagt, om I väpnen eder inför HERREN till kriget,
And Moses said to them, If ye will do according to these words, if ye will arm yourselves before the Lord for battle,
21 så att alla edra väpnade män gå över Jordan inför HERREN och stanna där, till dess han har fördrivit sina fiender för sig,
and every one of you will pass over Jordan fully armed before the Lord, until his enemy be destroyed from before his face,
22 om I alltså vänden tillbaka först då landet har blivit HERREN underdånigt, så skolen I vara utan skuld mot HERREN och Israel, och detta land skall då bliva eder besittning inför HERREN.
and the land shall be subdued before the Lord, then afterwards ye shall return, and be guiltless before the Lord, and as regards Israel; and this land shall be to you for a possession before the Lord.
23 Men om I icke så gören, se, då synden I mot HERREN, och I skolen då komma att förnimma eder synd, ty den skall drabba eder.
But if ye will not do so, ye will sin against the Lord; and ye shall know your sin, when afflictions shall come upon you.
24 Byggen eder nu städer åt edra kvinnor och barn, och gårdar åt eder boskap, och gören vad eder mun har talat."
And ye shall build for yourselves cities for your store, and folds for your cattle; and ye shall do that which proceeds out of your mouth.
25 Och Gads barn och Rubens barn talade till Mose och sade: "Dina tjänare skola göra såsom min herre bjuder.
And the sons of Ruben and the sons of Gad spoke to Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as our lord commands.
26 Våra barn våra hustrur, vår boskap och alla våra dragare skola bliva kvar här i Gileads städer.
Our store, and our wives, and all our cattle shall be in the cities of Galaad.
27 Men dina tjänare, vi så många som äro väpnade till strid, skola draga ditöver och kämpa inför HERREN, såsom min herre har sagt."
But thy servants will go over all armed and set in order before the Lord to battle, as [our] lord says.
28 Och Mose gav befallning om dem åt prästen Eleasar och åt Josua, Nuns son, och åt huvudmännen för familjerna inom Israels barns stammar.
And Moses appointed to them [for judges] Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Naue, and the chiefs of the families of the tribes of Israel.
29 Mose sade till dem: "Om Gads barn och Rubens barn gå över Jordan med eder, så många som äro väpnade till att kämpa inför HERREN, och landet så bliver eder underdånigt, då skolen I åt dem giva landet Gilead till besittning.
And Moses said to them, If the sons of Ruben and the sons of Gad will pass over Jordan with you, every one armed for war before the Lord, and ye shall subdue the land before you, then ye shall give to them the land of Galaad for a possession.
30 Men om de icke draga väpnade ditöver med eder, så skola de få sin besittning ibland eder i Kanaans land."
But if they will not pass over armed with you to war before the Lord, then shall ye cause to pass over their possessions and their wives and their cattle before you into the land of Chanaan, and they shall inherit with you in the land of Chanaan.
31 Och Gads barn och Rubens barn svarade och sade: "Vad HERREN har sagt till dina tjänare, det vilja vi göra.
And the sons of Ruben and the sons of Gad answered, saying, Whatsoever the Lord says to his servants, that will we do.
32 Vi vilja draga väpnade över till Kanaans land inför HERREN, och så få vår arvsbesittning har på andra sidan Jordan."
We will go over armed before the Lord into the land of Chanaan, and ye shall give us our inheritance beyond Jordan.
33 Så gav då Mose åt dem, åt Gads barn, Rubens barn och ena hälften av Manasses, Josefs sons, stam, Sihons, amoréernas konungs, rike och Ogs rike, konungens i Basan: själva landet med dess städer och dessas områden, landets städer runt omkring.
And Moses gave to them, even to the sons of Gad and the sons of Ruben, and to the half tribe of Manasse of the sons of Joseph, the kingdom of Seon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Basan, the land and its cities with its coasts, the cities of the land round about.
34 Och Gads barn byggde upp Dibon, Atarot, Aroer,
And the sons of Gad built Daebon, and Ataroth, and Aroer,
35 Atrot-Sofan, Jaeser, Jogbeha,
and Sophar, and Jazer, and they set them up,
36 Bet-Nimra och Bet-Haran, befästa städer och boskapsgårdar.
and Namram, and Baetharan, strong cities, and folds for sheep.
37 Och Rubens barn byggde upp Hesbon, Eleale, Kirjataim,
And the sons of Ruben built Esebon, and Eleale, and Kariatham,
38 Nebo och Baal-Meon -- vilkas namn hava ändrats -- och Sibma. Och de gåvo namn åt städerna som de byggde upp.
and Beelmeon, surrounded [with walls], and Sebama; and they called the names of the cities which they built, after their own names.
39 Och Makirs, Manasses sons, barn gingo åstad till Gilead och intogo det och fördrevo amoréerna som bodde där.
And a son of Machir the son of Manasse went to Galaad, and took it, and destroyed the Amorite who dwelt in it.
40 Och Mose gav Gilead åt Makir, Manasses son, och han bosatte sig där.
And Moses gave Galaad to Machir the son of Manasse, and he dwelt there.
41 Och Jair, Manasses son, gick åstad och intog deras byar och kallade dem Jairs byar.
And Jair the [son] of Manasse went and took their villages, and called them the villages of Jair.
42 Och Noba gick åstad och intog Kenat, med underlydande orter, och kallade det Noba, efter sitt eget namn.
And Nabau went and took Caath and her villages, and called them Naboth after his name.
