Jesaja 31
1 Ve dem som draga åstad ned till Egypten för att få hjälp, i det de förlita sig på hästar, dem som sätta sin förtröstan på vagnar, därför att där finnas så många, och på ryttare, därför att mängden är så stor, men som ej vända sin blick till Israels Helige och icke fråga efter HERREN!
Wo to hem that goon doun in to Egipt to help, and hopen in horsis, and han trist on cartis, for tho ben manye, and on knyytis, for thei ben ful stronge; and thei tristiden not on the hooli of Israel, and thei souyten not the Lord.
2 Också han är ju vis; han låter olyckan komma, och han ryggar icke sina ord. Han reser sig upp mot de ondas hus och mot den hjälp som ogärningsmännen sända.
Forsothe he that is wijs, hath brouyt yuel, and took not awei hise wordis; and he schal rise togidere ayens the hous of worste men, and ayens the helpe of hem that worchen wickidnesse.
3 Ty egyptierna äro människor och äro icke Gud, deras hästar äro kött och icke ande. Och HERREN skall räcka ut sin hand, och då skall hjälparen vackla och den hjälpte falla, och båda skola tillhopa förgås.
Egipt is a man, and not God; and the horsis of hem ben fleisch, and not spirit; and the Lord schal bowe doun his hond, and the helpere schal falle doun, and he schal falle, to whom help is youun, and alle schulen be wastid togidere.
4 Ty så har HERREN sagt till mig: Såsom ett lejon ryter, ett ungt lejon över sitt rov, och icke skrämmes bort av herdarnas rop eller rädes för deras larm, när de i mängd samlas dit, så skall HERREN Sebaot fara ned för att strida på Sions berg och uppe på dess höjd.
For whi the Lord seith these thingis to me, If a lioun rorith, and a whelp of a lioun on his prey, whanne the multitude of schipherdis cometh ayens hym, he schal not drede of the vois of hem, and he schal not drede of the multitude of hem; so the Lord of oostis schal come doun, for to fiyte on the mounteyn of Sion, and on the litil hil therof.
5 Såsom fågeln breder ut sina vingar, så skall HERREN Sebaot beskärma Jerusalem; han skall beskärma och hjälpa, han skall skona och rädda.
As briddis fleynge, so the Lord of oostis schal defende Jerusalem; he defendynge and delyuerynge, passynge forth and sauynge.
6 Så vänden nu om till honom, från vilken I haven avfallit genom ett så djupt fall, I Israels barn.
Ye sones of Israel, be conuertid, as ye hadden go awei in to depthe.
7 Ty på den tiden skall var och en av eder kasta bort de avgudar av silver och de avgudar av guld, som edra händer hava gjort åt eder till synd.
Forsothe in that dai a man schal caste awei the idols of his siluer, and the idols of his gold, whiche youre hondis maden to you in to synne.
8 Och Assur skall falla, men icke för en mans svärd; ett svärd, som icke är en människas, skall förtära honom. Han skall fly för svärd, och hans unga män skola bliva trälar.
And Assur schal falle bi swerd, not of man, and a swerd, not of man, schal deuoure hym; and he schal fle, not fro the face of swerd, and hise yonge men schulen be tributaries;
9 Och hans klippa skall förgås av skräck, och hans furstar skola i förfäran fly ifrån baneret. Så säger HERREN, han som har sin eld på Sion och sin ugn i Jerusalem.
and the strengthe of hym schal passe fro ferdfulnesse, and hise princes fleynge schulen drede. The Lord seide, whos fier is in Sion, and his chymeney is in Jerusalem.
