Jesaja 28

1 Ve dig, du Efraims druckna mäns stolta krona, du hans strålande härlighets vissnande blomster på bergshjässan ovan de vinberusades bördiga dal!

Ho! crown of pride of those who are given up to wine in Ephraim, and the dead flower of his glory which is on the head of those who are overcome by strong drink!

2 Se, från Herren kommer en som är stark och väldig, lik en hagelskur, en förödande storm, lik en störtskur med väldiga, översvämmande vatten, som slår allt till jorden med mat.

See, the Lord has a strong and cruel one; like a rain of ice, a storm of destruction, like the overflowing of a strong river, he will violently overcome them.

3 Under fötterna bliver den då trampad, Efraims druckna mäns stolta krona.

The crown of pride of those who are given up to wine in Ephraim will be crushed under foot;

4 Och det går med hans strålande härlighets vissnande blomma på bergshjässan ovan den bördiga dalen, såsom det går med ett fikon därnere, ett som har mognat före sommarskörden: så snart någon får syn därpå, slukar han det, medan han ännu har det i sin hand.

And the dead flower of his glory, which is on the head of the fertile valley, will be like the first early fruit before the summer; which a man takes and puts in his mouth the minute he sees it.

5 På den tiden skall HERREN Sebaot bliva en härlig krona och en strålande krans för kvarlevan av sitt folk;

In that day will the Lord of armies be a crown of glory, and a fair ornament, to the rest of his people;

6 och han skall bliva en rättens ande för den som skipar rätt, och en starkhetsmakt för dem som driva fienden på porten.

And a spirit of wisdom to the judge, and strength to those who keep back the attackers at the door of the town.

7 Men också här raglar man av vin, stapplar man av starka drycker; både präster och profeter ragla av starka drycker, de äro överlastade av vin, de stappla av starka drycker; de ragla, när de profetera, de vackla, när de skipa rätt.

And further, these are uncertain through wine, and have gone out of the right way through strong drink: the priest and the prophet are uncertain through strong drink, they are overcome by wine, they have gone out of the way through strong drink; their vision is false, they go wrong in their decisions.

8 Ja, alla bord äro fulla av vämjeliga spyor, ingen ren fläck finnes.

For all the tables are covered with coughed-up food, so that there is not a clean place.

9 -- "Vem är det då han vill lära förstånd, och vem skall han få att giva akt på sin predikan? Äro vi då nyss avvanda från modersmjölken, nyss tagna från modersbröstet?

To whom will he give knowledge? and to whom will he make clear the word? Will it be to those who have newly given up milk, and who have only now been taken from the breast?

10 Det är ju gnat på gnat, gnat på gnat, prat på prat, prat på prat, litet här, litet där!"

For it is one rule after another; one line after another; here a little, there a little.

11 -- Ja väl, genom stammande läppar och på ett främmande tungomål skall han tala till detta folk,

No, but with broken talk, and with a strange tongue, he will give his word to this people:

12 han som en gång sade till dem: "Här är vilostaden, låten den trötte få vila; här är vederkvickelsens ort." Men sådant ville de icke höra.

To whom he said, This is the rest, give rest to him who is tired; and by this you may get new strength; but they would not give ear.

13 Så skall då HERRENS ord bliva för dem "gnat på gnat, gnat på gnat, prat på prat, prat på prat, litet här, litet där". Och så skola de, bäst de gå där, falla baklänges och krossas, varda snärjda och fångade.

For this cause the word of the Lord will be to them rule after rule, line after line, here a little, there a little; so that they may go on their way, and falling back may be broken, and taken in the net.

14 Hören därför HERRENS ord, I bespottare, I som råden över folket här i Jerusalem.

Give ear then to the word of the Lord, you men of pride, the rulers of this people in Jerusalem:

15 Eftersom I sägen: "Vi hava slutit ett förbund med döden, med dödsriket hava vi ingått ett fördrag; om ock gisslet far fram likt en översvämmande flod, skall det icke nå oss, ty vi hava gjort lögnen till vår tillflykt och falskheten till vårt beskärm", (Sheol h7585)

Because you have said, We have made death our friend, and with the underworld we have made an agreement; when the overflowing waters come through they will not come near us; for we are looking to false words for help, taking cover in what is untrue: (Sheol h7585)

16 därför säger Herren, HERREN så: Se, jag har lagt i Sion en grundsten, en beprövad sten, en dyrbar hörnsten, fast grundad; den som tror på den behöver icke fly.

For this cause says the Lord God, See, I am placing in Zion as a base, a stone, a tested stone, an angle-stone which is certain and of great value: and he who has faith will not give way.

17 Och jag skall låta rätten vara mätsnöret och rättfärdigheten sänklodet. Och hagel skall slå ned eder lögntillflykt, och vatten skall skölja bort edert beskärm.

And I will make right decision the measuring-line, and righteousness the weight: and the ice-storm will take away the safe place of false words, and the secret place will be covered by the flowing waters.

18 Och edert förbund med döden skall bliva utplånat, och edert fördrag med dödsriket skall icke bestå; när gisslet far fram likt en översvämmande flod, då solen I varda nedtrampade. (Sheol h7585)

And the help you were looking for from death will come to nothing, and your agreement with the underworld will be broken; when the overflowing waters come through, then you will be overcome by them. (Sheol h7585)

19 Så ofta det far fram, skall det träffa eder; ty morgon efter morgon skall det fara fram, ja, både dag och natt. Idel förskräckelse bliver det, när I måsten akta på den predikan.

Whenever they come through they will overtake you; for they will come through morning after morning, by day and by night: and the news will be nothing but fear.

20 Ty sängen bliver då för kort att sträcka ut sig på och täcket för knappt att svepa in sig i.

For the bed is not long enough for a man to be stretched out on: and the cover is not wide enough for him to be covered with.

21 Ty HERREN skall stå upp likasom på Perasims berg, och han skall låta se sin vrede likasom i Gibeons dal. Han skall utföra sitt verk, ett sällsamt verk; han skall förrätta sitt arbete, ett förunderligt arbete.

For the Lord will come up as on Mount Perazim, he will be moved to wrath as in the valley of Gibeon; so that he may do his work — strange is his work; and give effect to his act — unnatural is his act.

22 Så hören nu upp med eder bespottelse, för att edra band ej må bliva än hårdare; ty om förstöring och oryggligt besluten straffdom över hela jorden har jag hört från Herren, HERREN Sebaot.

And now, take care that you do not make sport of him, or your bands will be made strong; for I have had word from the Lord, the Lord of armies, of an end, of a complete end, which is to come on all the land.

23 Lyssnen och hören min röst, akten härpå och hören mitt tal.

Let your ears be open to my voice; give attention to what I say.

24 När åkermannen vill så, plöjer han då beständigt och hackar upp och harvar sin mark?

Is the ploughman for ever ploughing? does he not get the earth ready and broken up for the seed?

25 Nej, fastmer: sedan han har jämnat fältet, strör han ju där svartkummin och kastar dit kryddkummin och sår vete i rader och korn på dess särskilda plats och spält i kanten.

When the face of the earth has been levelled, does he not put in the different sorts of seed, and the grain in lines, and the barley in its place, and the spelt at the edge?

26 Ty hans Gud har undervisat honom och lärt honom det rätta sättet.

For his God is his teacher, giving him the knowledge of these things.

27 Man tröskar ju ej heller svartkummin med tröskvagn och låter ej vagnshjul gå över kryddkummin, utan klappar ut svartkummin med stav och kryddkummin med käpp.

For the fitches are not crushed with a sharp instrument, and a cart-wheel is not rolled over the cummin; but the grain of the fitches is hammered out with a stick, and of the cummin with a rod.

28 Och brödsäden, tröskar man sönder den? Nej, man plägar icke oavlåtligt tröska den och driva sina vagnshjul och hästar däröver; man vill ju icke tröska sönder den.

Is the grain for bread crushed? He does not go on crushing it for ever, but he lets his cart-wheels and his horses go over it without crushing it.

29 Också detta kommer från HERREN Sebaot; han är underbar i råd och stor i vishet.

This comes from the Lord of armies, purposing wonders, and wise in all his acts.
