Ester 4

1 När Mordokai fick veta allt vad som hade skett, rev han sönder sina kläder och klädde sig i säck och aska, och gick så ut i staden och uppgav högljudda och bittra klagorop.

And Mordecai he knew all that it had been done and he tore Mordecai clothes his and he put on sackcloth and ash[es] and he went out in [the] midst of the city and he cried a cry loud and bitter.

2 Och han begav sig till konungens port och stannade framför den, ty in i konungens port fick ingen komma, som var klädd i sorgdräkt.

And he went to before [the] gate of the king for not to go into [the] gate of the king in clothing of sackcloth.

3 Och i vart hövdingdöme dit konungens befallning och påbud kom blev stor sorg bland judarna, och de fastade, gräto och klagade, ja, de flesta satte sig i säck och aska.

And in every province and province [the] place where [the] word of the king and law his [were] reaching mourning great [belonged] to the Jews and fasting and weeping and wailing sackcloth and ash[es] it was spread as a bed by many [people].

4 När nu Esters tjänarinnor och hovmän kommo och berättade detta för henne, blev drottningen högeligen förskräckt; och hon skickade ut kläder till Mordokai, för att man skulle kläda honom i dem och taga av honom sorgdräkten; men han tog icke emot dem.

(And they came *Qk) [the] maids of Esther and eunuchs her and they told to her and she agonized the queen exceedingly and she sent garments to clothe Mordecai and to remove sackcloth his from on him and not he accepted [them].

5 Då kallade Ester till sig Hatak, en av de hovmän som konungen hade anställt i hennes tjänst, och bjöd honom att gå till Mordokai, för att få veta vad som var på färde, och varför han gjorde så.

And she summoned Esther Hathach one of [the] eunuchs of the king whom he had made stand before her and she commanded him on Mordecai to know what? [was] this and concerning what? [was] this.

6 När då Hatak kom ut till Mordokai på den öppna platsen i staden framför konungens port,

And he went out Hathach to Mordecai to [the] open place of the city which [was] before [the] gate of the king.

7 berättade Mordokai för honom allt vad som hade hänt honom, och uppgav beloppet av den penningsumma som Haman hade lovat väga upp till konungens skattkamrar, för att han skulle få förgöra judarna.

And he told to him Mordecai all that it had happened to him and - [the] exact amount of the silver which he had said Haman to weigh out to [the] treasuries of the king (for the Jews *Qk) to destroy them.

8 Och en avskrift av det skrivna påbud som hade blivit utfärdat i Susan om att de skulle utrotas lämnade han honom ock, för att han skulle visa Ester den och berätta allt för henne, och ålägga henne att gå in till konungen och bedja honom om misskund och söka nåd hos honom för sitt folk.

And copy of [the] writing of the law which it had been given in Susa to annihilate them he gave to him to show Esther and to tell to her and to command to her to go to the king to seek favor to him and to request from to before him on people her.

9 Och Hatak kom och berättade för Ester vad Mordokai hade sagt.

And he came Hathach and he told to Esther [the] words of Mordecai.

10 Då bjöd Ester Hatak att gå till Mordokai och säga:

And she said Esther to Hathach and she commanded him to Mordecai.

11 "Alla konungens tjänare och folket i konungens hövdingdömen veta, att om någon, vare sig man eller kvinna, går in till konungen på den inre gården utan att vara kallad, så gäller för var och en samma lag: att han skall dödas, såframt icke konungen räcker ut mot honom den gyllene spiran, till tecken på att han får leva. Men jag har icke på trettio dagar varit kallad att komma till konungen."

All [the] servants of the king and [the] people of [the] provinces of the king [are] knowing that every man and woman who he goes to the king into the court inner who not he is summoned [is] one law his to put to death apart from that he extends to him the king [the] scepter of gold and he will live and I not I have been summoned to go to the king this thirty day[s].

12 När man nu berättade för Mordokai vad Ester hade sagt,

And they told to Mordecai [the] words of Esther.

13 sade Mordokai att man skulle giva Ester detta svar: "Tänk icke att du ensam bland alla judar skall slippa undan, därför att du är i konungens hus.

And he said Mordecai to bring back to Esther may not you imagine in self your to escape [the] house of the king from all the Jews.

14 Nej, om du tiger stilla vid detta tillfälle, så skall nog hjälp och räddning beredas judarna från något annat håll, men du och din faders hus, I skolen förgöras. Vem vet om du icke just för en sådan tid som denna har kommit till konungslig värdighet?"

That except certainly you will keep quiet at the time this relief and deliverance it will arise for the Jews from a place another and you and [the] house of father your you will perish and who? [is] knowing if for a time like this you have reached the queenhood.

15 Då lät Ester giva Mordokai detta svar:

And she said Esther to bring back to Mordecai.

16 "Gå åstad och församla alla judar som finnas i Susan, och hållen fasta för mig; I skolen icke äta eller dricka något under tre dygn, vare sig dag eller natt. Jag med mina tärnor vill ock sammalunda fasta; därefter vill jag gå in till konungen, fastän det är emot lagen. Och skall jag gå förlorad, så må det då ske."

Go gather all the Jews who are found in Susa and fast on me and may not you eat and may not you drink three days night and day also I and maids my I will fast thus and in such I will go to the king which not [is] according to the law and just as I have perished I have perished.

17 Och Mordokai gick bort och gjorde alldeles såsom Ester hade bjudit honom.

And he passed on Mordecai and he did according to all that she had commanded to him Esther.
