1 Samuelsboken 17
1 Men filistéerna församlade sina härar till strid; de församlade sig vid det Soko som hör till Juda. Och de lägrade sig mellan Soko och Aseka, vid Efes-Dammim.
And they gathered [the] Philistines armies their for battle and they were gathered Socoh which [belongs] to Judah and they encamped between Socoh and between Azekah in Ephes Dammim.
2 Saul och Israels män hade ock församlat sig och lägrat sig i Terebintdalen; och de ställde upp sig till strid mot filistéerna.
And Saul and [the] man of Israel they were gathered and they encamped in [the] valley of Elah and they deployed battle to meet [the] Philistines.
3 Filistéerna stodo vid berget på ena sidan, och israeliterna stodo vid berget på andra sidan, så att de hade dalen emellan sig.
And [the] Philistines [were] standing to the mountain from this and Israel [were] standing to the mountain from this and the valley [was] between them.
4 Då framträdde ur filistéernas skaror en envigeskämpe vid namn Goljat, från Gat; han var sex alnar och ett kvarter lång.
And he came out [the] man of the champions from [the] camps of [the] Philistines [was] Goliath name his from Gath height his [was] six cubits and a span.
5 Han hade en kopparhjälm på sitt huvud och var klädd i ett fjällpansar, och hans pansar hade en vikt av fem tusen siklar koppar.
And a helmet of bronze [was] on head his and body armor of scales he [was] clothed and [the] weight of the body armor [was] five thousand shekels bronze.
6 Och han hade benskenor av koppar och bar en lans av koppar på sin rygg.
And leg armor of bronze [was] on feet his and a javelin of bronze [was] between shoulders his.
7 Skaftet på hans spjut liknade en vävbom, och spetsen på spjutet höll sex hundra siklar järn. Och hans sköldbärare gick framför honom.
(And [the] wood of *QK) spear his [was] like a beam of weavers and [the] blade of spear his [was] six hundred shekels iron and [the] bearer of the body shield [was] walking before him.
8 Han trädde nu fram och ropade till Israels här och sade till dem: "Varför dragen I ut och ställen upp eder till strid? Jag står här på filistéernas vägnar, och I ären Sauls tjänare; väljen nu ut åt eder en man som må komma hitned till mig.
And he stood and he called out to [the] battle lines of Israel and he said to them why? do you come out to deploy battle ¿ not [am] I the Philistine and [are] you? servants of Saul commission for yourselves a man so he may come down to me.
9 Om han förmår strida mot mig och slår ned mig, så skola vi vara eder underdåniga; men om jag bliver hans överman och slår ned honom, så skolen I vara oss underdåniga och tjäna oss."
If he will be able to fight with me and he will strike down me and we will become of you slaves and if I I will prevail to him and I will strike down him and you will become of us slaves and you will serve us.
10 Och filistéen sade ytterligare: "Jag har i dag smädat Israels här. Skaffen nu hit någon, så att vi få strida med varandra!
And he said the Philistine I I defy [the] battle lines of Israel the day this give to me a man so let us fight together.
11 Då Saul och hela Israel hörde dessa filistéens ord, blevo de gripna av förfäran och stor fruktan.
And he heard Saul and all Israel [the] words of the Philistine these and they were dismayed and they were afraid exceedingly.
12 Men David var son till den omtalade efratiten från Bet-Lehem i Juda, som hette Isai och hade åtta söner; denne var på Sauls tid en gammal man vid framskriden ålder.
And David [was] a son of a man an Ephrathite this from Beth-lehem Judah and name his [was] Jesse and [belonged] to him eight sons and the man in [the] days of Saul he was old he had gone among men.
13 Nu hade Isais tre äldsta söner dragit åstad och följt med Saul ut i kriget. Av dessa hans tre söner, som hade dragit ut i kriget, hette den förstfödde Eliab, hans andre son Abinadab och den tredje Samma.
And they had gone [the] three [the] sons of Jesse old they had gone after Saul to battle and [the] name of - [the] three of sons his who they had gone in the battle [was] Eliab the firstborn and second his [was] Abinadab and the third [was] Shammah.
14 David var den yngste. De tre äldsta hade nu följt med Saul.
And David he [was] the young and three old they had gone after Saul.
15 Men David lämnade understundom Saul och gick hem för att vakta sin faders får i Bet-Lehem.
And David [was] going and [was] returning from with Saul to shepherd [the] flock of father his Beth-lehem.
16 Och filistéen kom fram både bittida och sent; i fyrtio dagar kom han och ställde sig där.
And he drew near the Philistine rising early and [the] evening darkened and he took his stand forty day[s].
17 Nu sade Isai en gång till sin son David: "Tag för dina bröders räkning en efa av dessa rostade ax jämte dessa tio bröd, och skaffa detta skyndsamt till dina bröder i lägret.
And he said Jesse to David son his take please to brothers your [the] ephah of roasted grain this and ten bread[s] this and bring [them] quickly the camp to brothers your.
18 Och dessa tio ostar skall du föra till deras överhövitsman. Du skall se efter, om det står väl till med dina bröder, och begära av dem en mottagningspant.
And [the] ten [the] portions of milk these you will bring to [the] commander of the thousand and brothers your you will pay attention to welfare and pledge their you will take.
19 Saul och de och alla Israels män äro nämligen i Terebintdalen och strida mot filistéerna."
And Saul and they and every man of Israel [are] in [the] valley of Elah fighting with [the] Philistines.
20 Bittida följande morgon överlämnade David fåren åt en vaktare, tog med sig vad han skulle och begav sig åstad, såsom Isai hade bjudit honom. När han kom fram till vagnborgen, hov hären, som då skulle draga ut i slagordning, upp sitt härskri.
And he rose early David in the morning and he left the flock with a watchman and he lifted up and he went just as he had commanded him Jesse and he came the camp towards and the army which was going out to the battle line and they shouted a war cry in the battle.
21 Och Israel och filistéerna ställde upp sig i slagordning mot varandra.
And it deployed Israel and [the] Philistines battle line to meet battle line.
22 Då lämnade David ifrån sig sakerna åt trossvaktaren och skyndade bort till hären; och när han kom dit, hälsade han sina bröder.
And he left David the baggage from with him on [the] hand of [the] keeper of the baggage and he ran the battle line and he came and he asked of brothers his to welfare.
23 Under det att han talade med dem, trädde nu envigeskämpen, han som hette Goljat, filistéen ifrån Gat, fram ur filistéernas här och talade såsom förut; och David hörde det.
And he - [was] speaking with them and there! [the] man of the champions [was] coming up [was] Goliath the Philistine name his from Gath (from [the] battle lines of *QK) [the] Philistines and he spoke according to the words these and he heard David.
24 Och alla Israels män flydde för mannen, när de fingo se honom och fruktade storligen.
And every man of Israel when saw they the man and they fled from before him and they were afraid exceedingly.
25 Och Israels män sade: "Sen I mannen där, som nu träder upp? Han träder upp för att smäda Israel. Men den man som slår ned honom vill konungen begåva med stor rikedom, och åt honom vill han giva sin dotter, och hans faders hus vill han göra skattefritt i Israel."
And he said - [the] man of Israel ¿ have you seen the man who comes up this for to defy Israel [he is] coming up and it will be the man who he will strike down him he will make rich him the king - rich[es] great and daughter his he will give to him and [the] house of father his he will make free in Israel.
26 Och David sade till de man som stodo bredvid honom: "Vad får den man som slår ned denne filisté och därmed tager bort sådan smälek från Israel? Ty vem är denne oomskurne filisté, som vågar smäda den levande Gudens här?"
And he said David to the men who were standing with him saying what? will it be done for the man who he will strike down the Philistine this and he will remove reproach from on Israel that who? [is] the Philistine uncircumcised this that he has defied [the] battle lines of God living.
27 Folket upprepade då för honom det som nyss hade blivit sagt; de sade: "Detta får den man som slår ned honom."
And it said to him the people according to the manner this saying thus it will be done for the man who he will strike down him.
28 Men Eliab, hans äldste broder, hörde huru han talade med männen; då upptändes Eliabs vrede mot David, och han sade: "Varför har du kommit hitned, och åt vem har du överlämnat den lilla fårhjorden där i öknen? Jag känner ditt övermod och ditt hjärtas ondska; för att se på striden är det som du har kommit hitned."
And he heard Eliab brother his old when spoke he to the men and it burned [the] anger of Eliab on David and he said - why? this have you come down and with whom? have you left [the] fewness of the sheep those in the wilderness I I know arrogance your and [the] wickedness of heart your that so as to see the battle you have come down.
29 David svarade: "Vad har jag då gjort? Det var ju allenast en fråga."
And he said David what? have I done now ¿ not a word [was] it.
30 Sedan vände han sig ifrån honom till en annan och upprepade sin fråga, och folket gav honom samma svar som förut.
And he turned away from beside him to [the] front of another [person] and he said according to the manner this and they brought back him the people word according to the word the former.
31 Men vad David hade talat blev bekant; och man berättade det för Saul, och denne lät hämta honom.
And they were heard the words which he spoke David and people told before Saul and he sent for him.
32 Och David sade till Saul: "Må ingen låta sitt mod falla. Din tjänare vill gå åstad och strida mot denne filisté."
And he said David to Saul may not it fall [the] heart of anyone on him servant your he will go and he will fight with the Philistine this.
33 Saul sade till David: "Icke kan du gå åstad mot denne filisté och strida mot honom; du är du ju allenast en yngling, och han är en stridsman allt ifrån ungdomen."
And he said Saul to David not you will be able to go against the Philistine this to fight with him for [are] a youth you and he [is] a man of war since youth his.
34 Men David svarade Saul: "Din tjänare har gått i vall med sin faders får; om då ett lejon eller en björn kom och tog bort ett får av hjorden,
And he said David to Saul shepherding he was servant your for father his the flock and it came the lion and with the bear and it carried off a sheep from the flock.
35 så följde jag efter vilddjuret och slog ned det och ryckte rovet ur munnen på det; och om det då reste sig upp mot mig, så fattade jag det i skägget och slog ned det och dödade det.
And I went out after it and I struck it and I rescued [it] from mouth its and it rose up on me and I took hold on beard its and I struck it and I killed it.
36 Har nu din tjänare slagit ned både lejon och björn, så skall det gå denne oomskurne filisté såsom det gick vart och ett av dessa djur, ty han har smädat den levande Gudens här."
Both the lion as well as the bear he has struck down servant your and he will be the Philistine uncircumcised this like one from them for he has defied [the] battle lines of God living.
37 Och David sade ytterligare: "HERREN, som räddade mig undan lejon och björn, han skall ock rädda mig undan denne filisté." Då sade Saul till David: "Gå då åstad; HERREN skall vara med dig."
And he said David Yahweh who he delivered me from [the] hand of the lion and from [the] hand of the bear he he will deliver me from [the] hand of the Philistine this. And he said Saul to David go and Yahweh he will be with you.
38 Och Saul klädde på David sina egna kläder och satte en kopparhjälm på hans huvud och klädde på honom ett pansar.
And he clothed Saul David garments his and he put a helmet of bronze on head his and he clothed him body armor.
39 Och David omgjordade sig med hans svärd utanpå kläderna och prövade på att gå därmed, ty han hade aldrig försökt något sådant. Och David sade till Saul: "Jag kan icke gå så klädd, ty jag har aldrig försökt sådant." Därpå lade David det av sig.
And he girded David sword his over garments his and he fell short to walk for not he had put to [the] test and he said David to Saul not I will be able to walk in these [things] for not I have put to [the] test and he removed them David from on himself.
40 Och han tog sin stav i handen och valde ut åt sig fem släta stenar ur bäcken och lade dem i sin herdeväska och i barmen, och tog sin slunga i handen; därefter gick han fram mot filistéen.
And he took stick his in hand his and he chose for himself five smooth [ones] of stones - from the wadi and he put them in [the] bag of shepherds which [belonged] to him and in the pouch and sling his [was] in hand his and he drew near to the Philistine.
41 Och filistéen gick framåt och kom David allt närmare, och hans sköld bärare gick framför honom.
And he came the Philistine coming and approaching to David and the man [the] bearer of the body shield [was] before him.
42 Då nu filistéen såg upp och fick se David, föraktade han honom; ty denne var ännu en yngling, ljuslätt och skön.
And he looked the Philistine and he saw David and he despised him for he was a youth and red with handsome of appearance.
43 Och filistéen sade till David: "Menar du att jag är en hund, eftersom du kommer emot mig med käppar?" Och filistéen förbannade David, i det han svor vid sina gudar.
And he said the Philistine to David ¿ a dog [am] I that you [are] coming against me with sticks and he cursed the Philistine David by gods his.
44 Sedan sade filistéen till David: "Kom hit till mig, så skall jag giva ditt kött åt himmelens fåglar och åt markens djur."
And he said the Philistine to David come! to me so let me give flesh your to [the] bird[s] of the heavens and to [the] animal[s] of the field.
45 David svarade filistéen: "Du kommer mot mig med svärd och spjut och lans, men jag kommer mot dig i HERREN Sebaots namn, hans som är Israels härs Gud, den härs som du har smädat.
And he said David to the Philistine you [are] coming against me with sword and with spear and with javelin and I [am] coming against you in [the] name of Yahweh of hosts [the] God of [the] battle lines of Israel whom you have defied.
46 HERREN skall denna dag överlämna dig i min hand, så att jag skall slå ned dig och taga ditt huvud av dig, och jag skall denna dag giva de filisteiska krigarnas döda kroppar åt himmelens fåglar och åt jordens vilda djur; så skola alla länder förnimma att Israel har en Gud.
The day this he will deliver up you Yahweh in hand my and I will strike down you and I will remove head your from on you and I will give [the] corpse[s] of [the] army of [the] Philistines the day this to [the] bird[s] of the heavens and to [the] animal[s] of the earth so they may know all the earth that there a God [belongs] to Israel.
47 Och hela denna hop skall förnimma att det icke är genom svärd och spjut som HERREN giver seger; ty striden är HERRENS, och han skall giva eder i vår hand."
So they may know all the assembly this that not by sword and by spear he saves Yahweh for [belongs] to Yahweh the battle and he will give you in hand our.
48 När då filistéen gjorde sig redo och gick framåt och närmade sig David, sprang David med hast fram mot hären, filistéen till mötes.
And it was that he arose the Philistine and he came and he drew near to meet David and he hurried David and he ran the battle line to meet the Philistine.
49 Och David stack sin hand i väskan och tog därur en sten och slungade och träffade filistéen i pannan; och stenen trängde in i pannan, så att han föll omkull med ansiktet mot jorden.
And he sent David hand his into the bag and he took from there a stone and he slung [it] and he struck the Philistine to forehead his and it sank the stone in forehead his and he fell on face his [the] ground towards.
50 Så övervann David filistéen med slunga och sten och slog filistéen till döds,
And he was strong David more than the Philistine with the sling and with the stone and he struck down the Philistine and he killed him and [was] a sword there not in [the] hand of David.
51 utan att David därvid hade något svärd i sin hand. Sedan sprang David fram och ställde sig invid filistéen och fattade i hans svärd; och när han hade dragit det ut ur skidan, gav han honom dödsstöten och högg av hans huvud därmed. När filistéerna nu sågo att deras kämpe var död, flydde de.
And he ran David and he stood to the Philistine and he took sword his and he drew out it from sheath its and he killed him and he cut off with it head his and they saw the Philistines that he had died mighty [man] their and they fled.
52 Men Israels och Juda man stodo upp och höjde ett härskri och förföljde filistéerna ända dit där vägen går till Gai, och ända intill Ekrons portar; och filistéer föllo och lågo slagna på vägen till Saaraim, och sedan ända till Gat och ända till Ekron.
And they arose [the] men of Israel and Judah and they shouted a war cry and they pursued the Philistines until coming you [to] Gath and to [the] gates of Ekron and they fell [those] slain of [the] Philistines on [the] way of Shaaraim and to Gath and to Ekron.
53 Sedan Israels barn sålunda häftigt hade förföljt filistéerna, vände de tillbaka och plundrade deras läger.
And they returned [the] people of Israel from hotly pursuing after [the] Philistines and they plundered camps their.
54 Och David tog filistéens huvud och förde det till Jerusalem, men hans vapen lade han i sitt tält.
And he took David [the] head of the Philistine and he brought it Jerusalem and weapons his he put in own tent his.
55 När Saul såg David gå ut mot filistéen, frågade han härhövitsmannen Abner: "Vems son är denne yngling, Abner?" Abner svarade: "Så sant du lever, konung, jag vet det icke."
And just as saw Saul David going out to meet the Philistine he said to Abner [the] commander of the army son of whom? this [is] the youth O Abner and he said Abner [by] [the] life of self your O king if I knew.
56 Då sade konungen: "Hör då efter, vems son den unge mannen är."
And he said the king ask you son of whom? this [is] the youth.
57 När sedan David vände tillbaka, efter att hava slagit ihjäl filistéen, tog Abner honom med sig och förde honom inför Saul, medan han ännu hade filistéens huvud i sin hand.
And just as returned David from striking down the Philistine and he took him Abner and he brought him before Saul and [the] head of the Philistine [was] in hand his.
58 Då sade Saul till honom: "Vems son är du, yngling" David svarade: "Din tjänare Isais, betlehemitens, son."
And he said to him Saul son of whom? [are] you O youth and he said David [the] son of servant your Jesse [the] Beth-lehemite.
