1 Krönikeboken 19

1 En tid härefter dog Nahas, Ammons barns konung, och hans son blev konung efter honom.

And it was after thus and he died Nahash [the] king of [the] people of Ammon and he reigned son his in place of him.

2 Då sade David: "Jag vill bevisa Hanun, Nahas' son, vänskap, eftersom hans fader bevisade mig vänskap." Och David skickade sändebud för att trösta honom i hans sorg efter fadern. När så Davids tjänare kommo till Ammons barns land, till Hanun, för att trösta honom,

And he said David I will do loyalty - with Hanun [the] son of Nahash for he did father his with me loyalty and he sent David messengers to comfort him on father his and they came [the] servants of David into [the] land of [the] people of Ammon to Hanun to comfort him.

3 sade Ammons barns furstar till Hanun: "Menar du att David därmed att han sänder tröstare till dig vill visa dig att han ärar din fader? Nej, för att undersöka och fördärva och bespeja landet hava hans tjänare kommit till dig."

And they said [the] officials of [the] people of Ammon to Hanun ¿ [is] honoring David father your in eyes your for he has sent to you comforters ¿ not in order to explore and to overthrow and to spy out the land have they come servants his to you.

4 Då tog Hanun Davids tjänare och lät raka dem och skära av deras kläder mitt på, ända uppe vid sätet, och lät dem så gå.

And he took Hanun [the] servants of David and he shaved them and he cut off robes their in the middle to the buttock[s] and he sent away them.

5 Och man kom och berättade för David vad som hade hänt männen; då sände han bud emot dem, ty männen voro ju mycket vanärade. Och konungen lät säga: "Stannen i Jeriko, till dess edert skägg hinner växa ut, och kommen så tillbaka."

And people went and they told to David on the men and he sent to meet them for they were the men humiliated exceedingly and he said the king remain at Jericho until that it will grow back beard your and you will return.

6 Då nu Ammons barn insågo att de hade gjort sig förhatliga för David, sände Hanun och Ammons barn ett tusen talenter silver för att leja sig vagnar och ryttare från Aram-Naharaim, från Aram-Maaka och från Soba.

And they saw [the] people of Ammon that they had made themselves odious with David and he sent Hanun and [the] people of Ammon one thousand talent[s] of silver to hire for themselves from Aram Naharaim and from Aram Maacah and from Zobah chariotry and horsemen.

7 De lejde sig trettiotvå tusen vagnar, ävensom hjälp av konungen i Maaka med hans folk; dessa kommo och lägrade sig framför Medeba. Ammons barn församlade sig ock från sina städer och kommo för att strida.

And they hired for themselves two and thirty thousand chariot[s] and [the] king of Maacah and people his and they came and they encamped before Medeba and [the] people of Ammon they gathered from cities their and they came for battle.

8 När David hörde detta, sände han åstad Joab med hela hären, de tappraste krigarna.

And he heard David and he sent Joab and all [the] army the warriors.

9 Och Ammons barn drogo ut och ställde upp sig till strid vid ingången till staden; men de konungar som hade kommit dit ställde upp sig för sig själva på fältet.

And they went out [the] people of Ammon and they deployed battle [the] entrance of the city and the kings who they had come to alone them [were] in the open country.

10 Då Joab nu såg att han hade fiender både framför sig och bakom sig, gjorde han ett urval bland allt Israels utvalda manskap och ställde sedan upp sig mot araméerna.

And he saw Joab that it was [the] face of the battle against him face and back and he chose from every chosen [man] in Israel and he deployed to meet Aram.

11 Men det övriga folket överlämnade han åt sin broder Absai, och dessa fingo ställa upp sig mot Ammons barn.

And [the] rest of the people he put in [the] hand of Abishai brother his and they deployed to meet [the] people of Ammon.

12 Och han sade: "Om araméerna bliva mig övermäktiga, så skall du komma mig till hjälp; och om Ammons barn bliva dig övermäktiga, så vill jag hjälpa dig.

And he said if it will be [too] strong for me Aram and you will become for me deliverance. And if [the] people of Ammon they will be [too] strong for you and I will deliver you.

13 Var nu vid gott mod; ja, låt oss visa mod i striden för vårt folk och för vår Guds städer. Sedan må HERREN göra vad honom täckes.

Be strong so let us show ourselves strong for people our and for [the] cities of God our and Yahweh the good in eyes his he will do.

14 Därefter ryckte Joab fram med sitt folk till strid mot araméerna, och de flydde för honom.

And he drew near Joab and the people which [was] with him before Aram for battle and they fled from before him.

15 Men när Ammons barn sågo att araméerna flydde, flydde också de för hans broder Absai och begåvo sig in i staden. Då begav sig Joab till Jerusalem.

And [the] people of Ammon they saw that it had fled Aram and they fled also they from before Abishai brother his and they went the city towards and he went Joab Jerusalem.

16 Då alltså araméerna sågo att de hade blivit slagna av Israel, sände de bud att de araméer som bodde på andra sidan floden skulle rycka ut, anförda av Sofak, Hadaresers härhövitsman.

And it saw Aram that they had been defeated before Israel and they sent messengers and they brought out Aram which [was] from [the] other side of the river and Shophach [the] commander of [the] army of Hadadezer [was] before them.

17 När detta blev berättat för David, församlade han hela Israel och gick över Jordan, och då han kom fram till dem, ställde han upp sig i slagordning mot dem; och när David hade ställt upp sig till strid mot araméerna, gåvo dessa sig i strid med honom.

And it was told to David and he gathered all Israel and he passed over the Jordan and he came to them and he deployed against them and he deployed David to meet Aram battle and they fought with him.

18 Men araméerna flydde undan för Israel, och David dräpte av araméerna manskapet på sju tusen vagnar, så ock fyrtio tusen man fotfolk; härhövitsmannen Sofak dödade han ock.

And it fled Aram from to before Israel and he killed David of Aram seven thousand charioteer[s] and forty thousand man on foot and Shophach [the] commander of the army he killed.

19 Då, alltså Hadaresers tjänare sågo att de hade blivit slagna av israeliterna, ingingo de fred med David och blevo honom underdåniga. Efter detta ville araméerna icke vidare hjälpa Ammons barn.

And they saw [the] servants of Hadadezer that they had been defeated before Israel and they made peace with David and they served him and not it was willing Aram to deliver [the] people of Ammon again.
