Matteus 14
1 I den tiden hörde Herodes Tetrarcha Jesu rykte;
At that time Herod the Tetrarche heard of the fame of Iesus,
2 Och sade till sina tjenare: Denne är Johannes Döparen; han är uppstånden ifrå de döda, derföre gör han sådana krafter.
And sayde vnto his seruaunts, This is that Iohn Baptist, hee is risen againe from the deade, and therefore great woorkes are wrought by him.
3 Ty Herodes hade gripit Johannem, bundit och lagt honom i häktelse, för Herodias, sins broders Philippi hustrus, skull.
For Herod had taken Iohn, and bounde him, and put him in prison for Herodias sake, his brother Philips wife.
4 Förty Johannes hade sagt till honom: Dig är icke lofligit hafva henne.
For Iohn saide vnto him, It is not lawfull for thee to haue her.
5 Och han hade gerna dräpit honom; men han räddes för folket; ty de höllo honom för en Prophet.
And when hee woulde haue put him to death, hee feared the multitude, because they counted him as a Prophet.
6 När då Herodes begick sin födelsedag, dansade Herodias dotter för dem; och det behagade Herodi.
But when Herods birth day was kept, the daughter of Herodias daunced before them, and pleased Herod.
7 Derföre lofvade han henne vid en ed, att han ville gifva henne hvad hon begärade.
Wherefore he promised with an othe, that he would giue her whatsoeuer she would aske.
8 Då sade hon, såsom hennes moder hade lärt henne tillförene: Gif mig här på ett fat Johannis Döparens hufvud.
And shee being before instructed of her mother, sayde, Giue mee here Iohn Baptists head in a platter.
9 Och Konungen blef bedröfvad; dock för edens skull, och för deras skull, som såto öfver bord med honom, böd han att det skulle gifvas henne;
And the King was sorie: neuerthelesse because of the othe, and them that sate with him at the table, he commanded it to be giuen her,
10 Och sände bort, och lät afhugga Johannis hufvud i häktelset.
And sent, and beheaded Iohn in the prison.
11 Och hans hufvud vardt framburet på ett fat, och gifvet pigone; och hon bar det till sina moder.
And his head was brought in a platter, and giuen to the maide, and shee brought it vnto her mother.
12 Och hans Lärjungar kommo, och togo hans lekamen, och begrofvo honom; och gingo sedan bort, och förkunnade det Jesu.
And his disciples came, and tooke vp the bodie, and buried it, and went, and tolde Iesus.
13 När Jesus det hörde, for han dädan med skepp afsides bort uti en ödemark. När folket det hörde, kommo de efter honom till fot ifrå städerna.
And when Iesus heard it, hee departed thence by shippe into a desert place apart. And when the multitude had heard it, they followed him on foote out of the cities.
14 Och Jesus gick ut, och såg det myckna folket, och varkunnade sig öfver dem, och gjorde deras kranka helbregda.
And Iesus went foorth and sawe a great multitude, and was mooued with compassion toward them, and he healed their sicke.
15 Och när det led åt aftonen, gingo hans Lärjungar till honom, och sade: Här är en ödemark, och tiden är förliden; låt folket gå ifrå dig, att de må gå bort i byarna, och köpa sig mat.
And when euen was come, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desart place, and the time is alreadie past: let the multitude depart, that they may goe into the townes, and bye them vitailes.
16 Då sade Jesus till dem: Det görs icke behof att de bortgå; gifver I dem äta.
But Iesus saide to them, They haue no neede to goe away: giue yee them to eate.
17 Då sade de till honom: Vi hafve här icke mer än fem bröd och två fiskar.
Then saide they vnto him, Wee haue here but fiue loaues, and two fishes.
18 Sade han: Tager mig dem hit.
And he saide, Bring them hither to me.
19 Och han böd folket sätta sig ned på gräset; och tog de fem bröd och de två fiskar, såg upp i himmelen, och tackade; bröt det, och gaf Lärjungomen bröden, och Lärjungarna gåfvo så folken.
And hee commanded the multitude to sit downe on the grasse, and tooke the fiue loaues and the two fishes, and looked vp to heauen and blessed, and brake, and gaue the loaues to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 Och de åto alle, och vordo mätte. Och de togo upp det öfver var i styckom, tolf korgar fulla.
And they did all eate, and were sufficed, and they tooke vp of the fragments that remained, twelue baskets full.
21 Och de som ätit hade voro vid femtusend män, förutan qvinnor och barn.
And they that had eaten, were about fiue thousande men, beside women and litle children.
22 Och straxt dref Jesus sina Lärjungar, att de skulle stiga i skeppet, och fara framföre utöfver, så länge han skiljde folket ifrå sig.
And straightway Iesus compelled his disciples to enter into a shippe, and to goe ouer before him, while he sent the multitude away.
23 Och när han hade skiljt folket ifrå sig, gick han upp på ett berg allena, till att bedja; och när aftonen kom, var han der allena.
And assoone as hee had sent the multitude away, he went vp into a moutaine alone to pray: and when the euening was come, hee was there alone.
24 Men skeppet var då allaredo midt på hafvet, och led plats i vågene; förty vädret var emot.
And the shippe was nowe in the middes of the sea, and was tossed with waues: for it was a contrarie winde.
25 Men i den fjerde väktene om natten kom Jesus till dem, gångandes på hafvet.
And in the fourth watch of the night, Iesus went vnto them, walking on the sea.
26 Och när Lärjungarna sågo honom gå på hafvet, vordo de förfärade och sade: Det är ett spökelse; och ropade af räddhåga.
And when his disciples sawe him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit, and cried out for feare.
27 Men Jesus talade dem straxt till, och sade: Varer vid ett godt mod; det är jag, varer icke förfärade.
But straight way Iesus spake vnto them, saying, Be of good comfort, It is I: be not afraide.
28 Då svarade honom Petrus, och sade: Herre, äret du, så bjud mig komma till dig uppå vattnet.
Then Peter answered him, and saide, Master, if it be thou, bid me come vnto thee on the water.
29 Då sade han: Kom. När Petrus då steg utaf skeppet, begynte han gå på vattnet, att han skulle komma till Jesum.
And he saide, Come. And when Peter was come downe out of the shippe, he walked on the water, to goe to Iesus.
30 Men när han såg att vädret var starkt, vardt han förfärad; och som han begynte sjunka, ropade han, och sade: Herre, hjelp mig.
But when he sawe a mightie winde, he was afraide: and as he began to sinke, he cried, saying, Master, saue me.
31 Och straxt räckte Jesus ut handena, och fattade uti honom, och sade till honom: O du klentrogne, hvi tviflade du?
So immediatly Iesus stretched foorth his hande, and caught him, and saide to him, O thou of litle faith, wherefore diddest thou doubt?
32 Och när de voro inkomne i skeppet, stillade vädret sig.
And assoone as they were come into the ship, the winde ceased.
33 Men de som voro i skeppet gingo fram, och tillbådo honom, och sade: Visserliga äst du Guds Son.
Then they that were in the ship, came and worshipped him, saying, Of a trueth thou art the Sonne of God.
34 Och när de voro öfverfarne, kommo de uti det landet Genesaret.
And when they were come ouer, they came into the land of Gennezaret.
35 Och när folket dersammastäds förnummo honom, sände de båd i hela landet deromkring, och hade alla sjuka till honom;
And when the men of that place knewe him, they sent out into all that countrey rounde about, and brought vnto him all that were sicke,
36 Och bådo honom, att de måtte allenast taga på hans klädafåll; och de, som togo deruppå, blefvo alle helbregda.
And besought him, that they might touch the hemme of his garment onely: and as many as touched it, were made whole.
