1 Och Josia höll Herranom Passah i Jerusalem; och slagtade Passah på fjortonde dagenom i första månaden.

And Josiah makes a Passover to YHWH in Jerusalem, and they slaughter the Passover-offering on the fourteenth of the first month,

2 Och han ställde Presterna uti deras vakt, och styrkte dem till deras ämbete i Herrans hus;

and he stations the priests over their charges, and strengthens them for the service of the house of YHWH,

3 Och sade till Leviterna, som hela Israel lärde, och Herranom helgade voro: Låter den helga arken uti huset, som Salomo, Davids son, Israels Konung, byggt hafver; I skolen icke bära honom på axlarna; så tjener nu Herranom edrom Gud, och hans folke Israel;

and says to the Levites who are teaching all Israel, who are sanctified to YHWH, “Put the holy Ark in the house that Solomon son of David, king of Israel, built; it is not a burden on the shoulder to you. Now serve your God YHWH and His people Israel,

4 Och skicker edra fäders hus, i edor skifte, såsom de beskrifne äro af David, Israels Konung, och hans son Salomo.

and prepare, by the house of your fathers, according to your divisions, by the writing of David king of Israel, and by the writing of his son Solomon,

5 Och står i helgedomenom efter fädernas hus skifte ibland edra bröder af folket, och desslikes fädernas hus skifte ibland Leviterna.

and stand in the holy place, by the divisions of the house of the fathers of your brothers, sons of the people, and the portion of the house of a father of the Levites,

6 Och slagter Passah, och helger eder, och skicker edra bröder, att de göra efter Herrans ord genom Mose.

and slaughter the Passover-offering and sanctify yourselves, and prepare for your brothers, to do according to the word of YHWH by the hand of Moses.”

7 Och Josia gaf till häfoffer för den meniga man lamb och kid, alltsammans till Passah, för alla dem som vid handena voro, på talet tretiotusend, och tretusend nöt; alltsammans af Konungens ägodelar.

And Josiah lifts up to the sons of the people a flock of lambs and young goats, the whole for Passover-offerings, for everyone who is found, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand oxen: these [are] from the substance of the king.

8 Hans Förstar gåfvo till häfoffer friviljoge för folket, och för Presterna och Leviterna; nämliga Hilkia, Sacharia och Jehiel, Förstarna i Guds hus, ibland Presterna till Passah, tutusend och sexhundrad ( lamb och kid ), dertill trehundrad nöt.

And his heads, for a willing-offering to the people, to the priests and to the Levites, have lifted up; Hilkiah, and Zechariah, and Jehiel, leaders in the house of God, have given two thousand and six hundred to the priests for Passover-offerings, and three hundred oxen;

9 Men Chanania, Semaja, Nethaneel, och hans bröder, Hasabia, Jejel och Josabad öfverstar för Leviterna, gåfvo Levitomen häfoffer till Passah, femtusend ( lamb och kid ), och dertill femhundrad nöt.

and Conaniah, and Shemaiah, and Nethaneel, his brothers, and Hashabiah, and Jeiel, and Jozabad, heads of the Levites, have lifted up five thousand to the Levites for Passover-offerings, and five hundred oxen.

10 Alltså vardt Gudstjenst beskickad, och Presterna stodo i sitt rum, och Leviterna i sin ordning, efter Konungens bud.

And the service is prepared, and the priests stand on their station, and the Levites on their divisions, according to the command of the king,

11 Och de slagtade Passah, och Presterna togo af deras händer och stänkte, och Leviterna drogo thy hudena af;

and they slaughter the Passover-offering, and the priests sprinkle out of their hand, and the Levites are stripping [them];

12 Och gjorde bränneoffer deraf, att de skulle dela det ut ibland fädershusen uti deras meniga hop, till att offrat Herranom, såsom skrifvet står i Mose bok; sammaledes gjorde de ock med oxarna.

and they turn aside the burnt-offering to put them by the divisions of the house of the fathers of the sons of the people, to bring near to YHWH, as it is written in the scroll of Moses—and so for the oxen.

13 Och de kokade Passah vid eld, såsom det sig borde; men hvad som helgadt var, kokade de i grytor, kettlar och pannor, och de gjorde det med hast för meniga hopen.

And they cook the Passover with fire according to the ordinance, and they have cooked the sanctified things in pots, and in kettles, and in pans—for all the sons of the people.

14 Derefter redde de ock för sig, och för Presterna; förty Presterna, Aarons söner, hade att skaffa med bränneoffret, och med det feta, allt intill nattena; derföre måste Leviterna tillreda för sig och för Presterna, Aarons söner.

And afterward they have prepared for themselves and for the priests; for the priests, sons of Aaron, [are occupied] in the offering up of the burnt-offering and of the fat until night; and the Levites have prepared for themselves and for the priests, sons of Aaron.

15 Och sångarena, Assaphs barn, stodo i sitt rum, efter Davids bud, och Assaphs, och Hemans, och Jeduthuns, Konungens Siares; och dörravaktarena vid alla dörrarna, och de veko intet ifrå sitt ämbete; ty Leviterna, deras bröder, redde till för dem.

And the singers, sons of Asaph, [are] on their station according to the command of David, and Asaph, and Heman, and Jeduthun seer of the king, and the gatekeepers [are] at every gate; it is not for them to turn aside from off their service, for their brothers the Levites have prepared for them.

16 Alltså vardt beskickad all Herrans tjenst på den dagen, så att man höll Passah, och bränneoffer gjorde på Herrans altare, efter Konung Josia bud.

And all the service of YHWH is prepared on that day to keep the Passover and to cause burnt-offering to ascend on the altar of YHWH, according to the command of King Josiah.

17 Alltså höllo Israels barn, som vid handen voro, Passah i den tiden, och osyrade bröds högtid i sju dagar.

And the sons of Israel who are found make the Passover at that time, and the Celebration of Unleavened Things, [for] seven days.

18 Intet Passah var i Israel hållet, såsom detta, allt ifrå den Propheten Samuels tid; och ingen Israels Konung hade sådant Passah hållit, såsom Josia Passah höll, och Presterna, Leviterna, hela Juda och det af Israel för handen var, och Jerusalems inbyggare.

And there has not been made a Passover like it in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet, and none of the kings of Israel made such a Passover as Josiah has made, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel who are found, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

19 Uti adertonde årena af Josia rike vardt detta Passah hållet.

In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah this Passover has been made.

20 Derefter, när Josia huset tillredt hade, drog Necho, Konungen i Egypten, upp, till att strida emot Carchemis vid Phrath; och Josia drog ut emot honom.

After all this, when Josiah has prepared the house, Necho king of Egypt has come up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates, and Josiah goes forth to meet him;

21 Men han sände båd till honom, och lät säga honom: Hvad hafver jag med dig göra, Juda Konung? Jag kommer icke nu emot dig, utan jag strider emot ett ( annat ) hus; och Gud hafver sagt, att jag skulle skynda mig; håll upp att göra emot Gud, som med mig är, att han icke förderfvar dig.

and he sends messengers to him, saying, “And what do I [have to do] with you, O king of Judah? I do not come against you today, but to the house with which I have war, and God commanded to hurry me; cease for yourself from God who [is] with me, and He does not destroy you.”

22 Men Josia vände icke sitt ansigte ifrå honom, utan ställde sig till att strida emot honom; och lydde intet Necho ord utaf Guds mun, och kom till att strida med honom på den slättene vid Megiddo.

And Josiah has not turned around his face from him, but has disguised himself to fight against him, and has not listened to the words of Necho, from the mouth of God, and comes to fight in the Valley of Megiddo;

23 Och skyttorna sköto Konung Josia. Och Konungen sade till sina tjenare: Förer mig hädan; ty jag är illa sår.

and the archers shoot at King Josiah, and the king says to his servants, “Remove me, for I have become very sick.”

24 Och hans tjenare togo honom af vagnen, och lade honom på hans andra vagn, och förde honom till Jerusalem. Och han blef död, och vardt begrafven ibland sina fäders grifter; och hele Juda och Jerusalem sörjde för Josia skull.

And his servants remove him from the chariot, and cause him to ride on the second chariot that he has, and cause him to go to Jerusalem, and he dies, and is buried in the graves of his fathers, and all Judah and Jerusalem are mourning for Josiah,

25 Och Jeremia jämrade sig öfver Josia; och alle sångare och sångerskor höllo deras klagovisor öfver Josia, allt intill denna dag, och gjorde en sedvänjo deraf i Israel; si, det är skrifvet uti de klagovisor.

and Jeremiah laments for Josiah, and all the male and female singers speak in their lamentations of Josiah to this day, and set them for a statute on Israel, and behold, they are written beside the Lamentations.

26 Hvad nu mer af Josia sägande är, och om hans barmhertighet, efter skriftene i Herrans lag,

And the rest of the matters of Josiah and his kind acts, according as it is written in the Law of YHWH,

27 Och hans gerningar, både de första och de sista, si, det är skrifvet uti Israels och Juda Konungars bok.

even his matters, the first and the last, behold, they are written on the scroll of the kings of Israel and Judah.
