1 Petrusbrevet 1
1 Petrus, Jesu Christi Apostel, dem utkoradom främlingom, som bo här och der i Ponto, Galatien, Cappadocien, Asien, och Bithynien,
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, unto the chosen pilgrims of the dispersion, throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia and Bithynia, —
2 Efter Guds Faders försyn, genom Andans helgelse, till lydnona och Jesu Christi blods stänkelse. Nåd och frid föröke sig i eder.
[Chosen] according to the fore-knowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of Spirit, unto obedience and the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ, Favour unto you, and peace, be multiplied!
3 Välsignad vare Gud, och vårs Herras Jesu Christi Fader, som oss för sin stora barmhertighet hafver födt på nytt till ett lefvandes hopp, genom Jesu Christi uppståndelse ifrå de döda;
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who, according to his great mercy, hath regenerated us unto a living hope, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from among the dead,
4 Till oförgängeligit, obesmittadt, och ovanskeligit arf; hvilket i himmelen förvaradt är till eder.
Unto an inheritance, incorruptible and undefiled and unfading, reserved in the heavens for you
5 Som med Guds magt bevarens genom trona till salighet, hvilken beredd är, att hon skall uppenbar varda i den yttersta tiden;
who, in God’s power, are being guarded through faith unto salvation—ready to be revealed in the last ripe time:
6 I hvilkom I eder fröjda skolen, I som nu en liten tid liden bedröfvelse, i margahanda försökelse, hvar så behöfves:
Wherein ye exult, though, for a little, just now, if needful, put to grief in manifold temptations,
7 På det edor tro skall rättsinnig och mycket kosteligare befunnen varda, än det förgängeliga guld som pröfvas med eld, till lof, pris och äro, när Christus Jesus blifver uppenbar;
In order that the proving of your faith—much more precious than of gold that perisheth even though, by means of fire, it is proved—may be found unto praise and glory and honour in the revealing of Jesus Christ, —
8 Hvilken I älsken, ändock I icke sen honom; den I ock nu tron uppå, och dock icke sen; så skolen I fröjda eder med osägeliga och härliga glädje;
Whom, not having seen, ye love, on whom, though at present not looking, but believing, ye exult with joy unspeakable and filled with glory,
9 Och få edor tros ändalykt, nämliga själarnas salighet;
Being about to bear away the end of your faith—a salvation of souls:
10 Efter hvilken salighet Propheterne hafva sökt och ransakat, som propheterat hafva om den tillkommande nåd till eder;
Concerning which salvation, prophets—who concerning the favour for you, did prophesy—sought out and searched out,
11 Och hafva ransakat, på hvad eller hurudana tid Christi Ande utviste, den i dem var, och tillförene hade betygat de lidande, som i Christo äro, och den härlighet, som derefter följa skulle,
Searching into what particular, or what manner, of season the Spirit of Christ which was in them was pointing to, when witnessing beforehand as to—The sufferings, for Christ, and the glories, after these, —
12 Hvilkom det ock uppenbaradt var: ty de hafva icke sig sjelfvom, utan oss, dermed tjent; hvilke stycker eder nu förkunnad äro, genom dem som eder Evangelium predikat hafva, genom den Helga Anda som sändes af himmelen, hvilket Änglomen ock lyster se.
Unto whom it was revealed—that, Not unto themselves, but unto us, they were ministering them, which things have, now, been announced unto you through them who have told you the good tidings with Holy Spirit sent forth from heaven: into which things messengers are coveting to obtain a nearer view.
13 Derföre, begjorder edor sinnes länder, och varer nyktre, och sätter fullkomligit hopp till den nåd som eder tillbuden varder, genom Jesu Christi uppenbarelse,
Wherefore, girding up the loins of your mind, keeping sober, perseveringly direct your hope unto the favour, being borne along to you, in the revealing of Jesus Christ:
14 Såsom lydaktig barn; och ställer eder icke såsom tillförene, då I uti fåvitsko lefden, efter begärelsen;
As obedient persons, not configuring yourselves unto your former covetings in your ignorance:
15 Utan, efter honom, som eder kallat hafver, och helig är, varer ock I helige uti all edor umgängelse.
But, according as he that hath called you is holy, do, ye yourselves, also become, holy in all manner of behaviour, —
16 Ty det är skrifvet: I skolen vara helige; ty jag är helig.
Inasmuch as it is written—Holy shall ye be, because, I, am holy.
17 Och efter I åkallen honom för en Fader, som dömer efter hvars och ens gerning, och hafver intet anseende till personen, så ser till att I, uti detta edart elände, vandren i räddhåga.
And, if, as Father, ye are invoking him who, without respect of persons, judgeth according to each man’s work, with reverence, for the time of your sojourning, behave ye;
18 Och veter, att I icke med förgängeligit silfver eller guld igenlöste ären ifrån edart fåfänga lefverne, efter fädernas sätt;
Knowing that, Not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, have ye been redeemed from your unmeaning behaviour paternally handed down,
19 Utan med Christi dyra blod, såsom med ett menlöst och obesmittadt lambs;
But with precious blood, as of a lamb, unblemished and unspotted, of an Anointed One, —
20 Hvilken väl föresedd var för verldenes begynnelse; men uppenbarad i de yttersta tiderna, för edra skull;
Foreknown, indeed, before the foundation of the world, but made manifest at a last stage of the times, for the sake of you
21 Som genom honom tron på Gud; den honom uppväckt hafver ifrå de döda, och gifvit honom härlighet; på det I skullen hafva tro och hopp till Gud.
who, through him, are faithful towards God, —Who raised him from among the dead, and glory to him gave, So that your faith and hope are directed towards God:
22 Och görer edra själar kyska, i sanningenes lydno genom Andan, till oskrymtad broderlig kärlek; älsker eder storliga inbördes af rent hjerta;
Having purified, your souls, by the obedience of the truth, unto unfeigned brotherly affection, from the heart, love, one another, earnestly;
23 Såsom de, som födde äro på nytt; icke af någor förgängelig säd, utan af oförgängelig, som är, af lefvandes Guds ord, det evinnerliga blifver. (aiōn g165)
Having been regenerated—Not out of corruptible seed, but incorruptible—through means of the word of a Living and Abiding God; (aiōn g165)
24 Ty allt kött är såsom gräs, och all menniskos härlighet såsom blomster på gräset; gräset är vissnadt, och blomstret är affallet;
Inasmuch as—All flesh, is as grass, and, all the glory thereof, as the flower of grass, —The grass hath withered, and the flower hath fallen out,
