Luka 22
1 Basi Sikukuu ya Mkate Usiyotiwa Chachu ilikuwa imekaribia, ambayo inaitwa Pasaka.
The Feast of the Unleavened Bread, known as the Passover, was near.
2 Makuhani wakuu na waandishi wakajadiliana namna ya kumuua Yesu, kwa sababu waliwaogopa watu.
The Chief Priest and the Teachers of the Law were looking for an opportunity of destroying Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.
3 Shetani akaingia ndani ya Yuda Iskariote, mmoja wa wale wanafunzi Kumi na mbili.
Now Satan took possession of Judas, who was known as Iscariot, and who belonged to the Twelve;
4 Yuda akaenda kujadiliana na wakuu wa makuhani na wakuu namna ambavyo atamkabidhi Yesu kwao.
and he went and discussed with the Chief Priests and Officers in charge at the Temple the best way of betraying Jesus to them.
5 Walifurahi, na kukubaliana kumpa fedha.
They were glad of this, and agreed to pay him.
6 Yeye aliridhia, na alitafuta fursa ya kumkabidhi Yesu kwao mbali na kundi la watu.
So Judas assented, and looked for an opportunity to betray Jesus to them, in the absence of a crowd.
7 Siku ya mikate isiyotiwa chachu ikafika, ambapo kondoo wa Pasaka lazima atolewe.
When the day of the Festival of the Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lambs had to be killed,
8 Yesu akawatuma Petro na Yohana, akasema, “Nendeni mkatuandalie chakula cha Pasaka ili tuje tukile.”
Jesus sent forward Peter and John, saying to them: “Go and make preparations for our eating the Passover.”
9 Wakamuuliza, “Wapi unataka tuyafanyie hayo maandalizi?”
“Where do you wish us to make preparations?” they asked.
10 Akawajibu, “Sikilizeni, mtakapokuwa mmeingia mjini, mwanamume ambaye amebeba mtungi wa maji atakutana na ninyi. Mfuateni kwenye nyumba ambayo ataingia.
“Listen,” he answered, “when you have got into the city, a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you; follow him into whatever house he enters;
11 Kisha mwambieni bwana wa nyumba, “Mwalimu anakwambia, “Kiko wapi chumba cha wageni, mahali ambapo nitakula Pasaka na wanafunzi wangu?”
and you shall say to the owner of the house ‘The Teacher says to you — Where is the room where I am to eat the Passover with my disciples?’
12 Atawaonyesha chumba cha ghorofani ambacho kiko tayari. Fanyeni maandalizi humo.”
The man will show you a large upstairs room, set out; there make preparations.”
13 Hivyo wakaenda, na wakakuta kila kitu kama alivyowaambia. Kisha wakaandaa chakula cha Pasaka.
So Peter and John went on, and found everything just as Jesus had told them, and they prepared the Passover.
14 Muda ulipofika alikaa na wale mitume.
When the time came, Jesus took his place at table, and the Apostles with him.
15 Kisha akawaambia, “Nina shauku kubwa ya kula sikukuu hii ya Pasaka na ninyi kabla ya kuteswa kwangu.
“I have most earnestly wished,” he said, “to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16 Kwa maana nawaambieni, sitakula tena mpaka itakapotimizwa katika ufalme wa Mungu.”
For I tell you that I shall not eat it again, until it has had its fulfilment in the Kingdom of God.”
17 Kisha Yesu akachukua kikombe, na alipokwisha kushukuru, akasema, “Chukueni hiki, na mgawane ninyi kwa ninyi.
Then, on receiving a cup, after saying the thanksgiving, he said:
18 Kwa maana nawaambia, sitakunywa tena mzao wa mzabibu, mpaka ufalme wa Mungu utakapokuja.”
“Take this and share it among you. For I tell you that I shall not, after to-day, drink of the juice of the grape, till the Kingdom of God has come.”
19 Kisha akachukua mkate, na alipokwisha kushukuru, akaumega, na kuwapa, akisema, “Huu ni mwili wangu ambao umetolewa kwa ajili yenu. Fanyeni hivi kwa kunikumbuka mimi.”
Then Jesus took some bread, and, after saying the thanksgiving, broke it and gave to them, with the words: “This is my body, [which is now to be given on your behalf. Do this in memory of me.”]
20 Akachukua kikombe vivyo hivyo baada ya chakula cha usiku akisema, “Kikombe hiki ni agano jipya katika damu yangu, ambayo imemwagika kwa ajili yenu.
[And in the same way with the cup, after supper, saying: “This cup is the New Covenant made by my blood which is being poured out on your behalf. ]
21 Lakini angalieni. Yule anisalitie yuko pamoja nami mezani.
Yet see! the hand of the man that is betraying me is beside me upon the table!
22 Kwa maana Mwana wa Adamu kwa kweli aenda zake kama ilivyokwisha amuliwa. Lakini ole kwa mtu yule ambaye kupitia yeye Mwana wa Adamu asalitiwa!”
True, the Son of Man is passing, by the way ordained for him, yet alas for that man by whom he is being betrayed!”
23 Wakaanza kuulizana wao kwa wao, nani miongoni mwao ambaye angefanya jambo hili.
Then they began questioning one another which of them it could be that was going to do this.
24 Kisha yakatokea mabishano katikati yao kwamba ni nani anaye dhaniwa kuwa mkuu kuliko wote.
And a dispute arose among them as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.
25 Akawaambia, “Wafalme wa watu wa mataifa wana ubwana juu yao, na wale mwenye mamlaka juu yao wanaitwa waheshimiwa watawala.
Jesus, however, said: “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their oppressors are styled ‘Benefactors.’
26 Lakini haitakiwi kabisa kuwa hivi kwenu ninyi. Badala yake, acha yule ambaye ni mkubwa kati yenu awe kama mdogo. Na yule ambaye ni wa muhimu sana awe kama atumikaye.
But with you it must not be so. No, let the greatest among you become like the youngest, and him who leads like him who serves.
27 Kwa sababu yupi mkubwa, yule akaaye mezani au yule anayetumika? Je si yule aketie mezani? Na mimi bado ni kati yenu kama atumikaye.
Which is the greater — the master at the table or his servant? Is not it the master at the table? Yet I myself am among you as one who serves.
28 Lakini ninyi ndio ambao mmeendelea kuwa nami katika majaribu yangu.
You are the men who have stood by me in my trials;
29 Nawapa ninyi ufalme, kama vile Baba alivyonipa mimi ufalme,
and, just as my Father has assigned me a Kingdom, I assign you places,
30 kwamba mpate kula na kunywa mezani kwangu kwenye ufalme wangu. Na mtakaa kwenye viti vya enzi mkizihukumu kabila kumi na mbili za Israel.
so that you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom, and be seated upon twelve thrones as judges of the twelve tribes of Israel.
31 Simoni, Simoni, fahamu kwamba, Shetani ameomba awapate ili awapepete kama ngano.
Simon! Simon! listen. Satan demanded leave to sift you all like wheat,
32 Lakini nimekuombea, kwamba imani yako isishindwe. Baada ya kuwa umerudi tena, waimarishe ndugu zako.”
but I prayed for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. And you, when you have returned to me, are to strengthen your Brothers.”
33 Petro akamwambia, “Bwana, niko tayari kwenda na wewe gerezani na hata katika mauti.”
“Master,” said Peter, “with you I am ready to go both to prison and to death.”
34 Yesu akajibu, “Nakwambia, Petro, Jogoo hatawika leo, kabla hujanikana mara tatu kwamba unanijua.”
“I tell you, Peter,” replied Jesus, “the cock will not crow to-day till you have disowned all knowledge of me three times.”
35 Kisha Yesu akawaambia, “Nilipowapeleka ninyi bila mfuko, kikapu cha vyakula, ua viatu, je mlipungukiwa na kitu?” Wakajibu “Hakuna.”
Then he said to them all: “When I sent you out as my Messengers, without either purse, or bag, or sandals, were you in need of anything?” “No; nothing,” they answered.
36 Kisha akawaambia, “Lakini sasa, kila mwenye mfuko, na auchukue pamoja na kikapu cha vyakula. Yule ambaye hana upanga imempasa auze joho lake anunue mmoja.
“Now, however,” he said, “he who has a purse must take it and his bag as well; and he who has not must sell his cloak and buy a sword.
37 Kwa sababu nawaambia, yote ambayo yameandikwa kwa ajili yangu lazima yatimilike, 'Na alichukuliwa kama mtu ambaye anavunja torati.' Kwa sababu kile kilichotabiriwa kwa ajili yangu kinatimizwa.”
For, I tell you, that passage of Scripture must be fulfilled in me, which says — ‘He was counted among the godless’; indeed all that refers to me is finding its fulfilment.”
38 Kisha wakasema, “Bwana, tazama! Hizi hapa panga mbili.” Na akawaambia”yatosha.”
“Master,” they exclaimed, “look, here are two swords!” “Enough!” said Jesus.
39 Baada ya chakula cha usiku, Yesu aliondoka, kama ambavyo amekuwa akifanya mara kwa mara, akaenda mlima wa Mzeituni, na wanafunzi wakamfuata.
Jesus then went out, and made his way as usual to the Mount of Olives, followed by his disciples.
40 Walipofika, aliwaambia, “Ombeni kwamba msiingie majaribuni.”
And, when he reached the spot, he said to them: “Pray that you may not fall into temptation.”
41 Akaenda mbali na wao kama mrusho wa jiwe, akapiga magoti akaomba,
Then he withdrew about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and began to pray.
42 akisema, “Baba, kama unataka, niondolee kikombe hiki. Lakini si kama nitakavyo mimi, lakini mapenzi yako yafanyike.”
“Father,” he said, “if it is thy pleasure, spare me this cup; only, not my will but thine be done.”
43 Kisha malaika kutoka mbinguni akamtokea, akamtia nguvu.
Presently there appeared to him an angel from Heaven, who strengthened him.
44 Akiwa katika kuugua, akaomba kwa dhati zaidi, na jasho lake likawa kama matone makubwa ya damu yakidondoka chini.
And, as his anguish became intense, he prayed still more earnestly, while his sweat was like great drops of blood falling on the ground.
45 Wakati alipoamka kutoka katika maombi yake, alikuja kwa wanafunzi, na akawakuta wamelala kwa sababu ya huzuni yao,
Then he rose from praying, and came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow.
46 na akawauliza, “Kwanini mnalala? Amkeni muombe, kwamba msiingie majaribuni.”
“Why are you asleep?” he asked them. “Rise and pray, that you may not fall into temptation.”
47 Wakati alipokuwa bado akiongea, tazama, kundi kubwa la watu likatokea, na Yuda, mmoja wa mitume kumi na wawili akiwaongoza. Akaja karibu na Yesu ili ambusu,
While he was still speaking, a crowd appeared in sight, led by the man called Judas, who was one of the Twelve. Judas approached Jesus, to kiss him;
48 lakini Yesu akamwambia, “Yuda, je unamsaliti Mwana wa Adamu kwa busu?”
on which Jesus said to him: “Judas, is it by a kiss that you betray the Son of Man?”
49 Wakati wale waliokuwa karibu na Yesu walipoona hayo yanayotokea, wakasema, “Bwana, je tuwapige kwa upanga?”
But when those who were round Jesus saw what was going to happen, they exclaimed: “Master, shall we use our swords?”
50 Kisha mmoja wao akampiga mtumishi wa kuhani mkuu, akamkata sikio lake la kulia.
And one of them struck the High Priest’s servant and cut off his right ear;
51 Yesu akasema, “hii inatosha. Na akagusa sikio lake, akamponya.
on which Jesus said: “Let me at least do this”; and, touching his ear, he healed the wound.
52 Yesu akasema kwa kuhani mkuu, na kwa wakuu wa hekalu, na kwa wazee waliokuja kinyume chake, “Je mnakuja kana kwamba mnakuja kupambana na mnyang'anyi, na marungu na mapanga?
Then, turning to the Chief Priests and Officers in charge at the Temple and Councillors, who had come for him, he said: “Have you come out, as if after a robber, with swords and clubs?
53 Nilipokuwa pamoja nanyi siku zote kwenye hekalu, hamkuweka mikono yenu juu yangu. Lakini hii ni saa yako, na mamlaka ya giza.”
When I was with you day after day in the Temple Courts, you did not lay hands on me; but now your time has come, and the power of Darkness.”
54 Wakamkamata, wakamuongoza, wakamleta nyumbani mwa kuhani mkuu. Lakini Petro akamfuatilia kwa mbali.
Those who had taken Jesus prisoner took him away into the house of the High Priest. Peter followed at a distance.
55 Baada ya kuwa wamewasha moto katika ule uwanda wa ndani na walipokwisha kukaa chini pamoja, Petro akakaa katikati yao.
But, when they had lit a fire in the centre of the court-yard and had all sat down there, Peter seated himself in the middle of them.
56 Mtumishi mmoja wa kike akamuona Petro alipokuwa amekaa katika mwanga utokanao na moto, akamtazama akamwambia, “Huyu mtu pia alikuwa pamoja naye.”
Presently a maidservant saw him sitting near the blaze of the fire. Fixing her eyes on him, she said: “Why, this man was one of his companions!”
57 Lakini Petro akakana, akasema, “mwanamke, mimi simjui.”
But Peter denied it. “I do not know him,” he replied.
58 Baada ya muda kidogo, mtu mwingine akamuona akasema “Wewe pia ni mmoja wao”. Lakini Petro akajibu, “Mwanaume, mimi siyo.”
A little while afterwards some one else — a man — saw him and said: “Why, you are one of them!” “No,” Peter said, “I am not.”
59 Baada ya kama saa moja hivi, mwanaume mmoja akasisitiza akasema, “Kweli kabisa huyu mtu pia alikuwa pamoja naye, maana ni Mgalilaya.”
About an hour later another man declared positively: “This man also was certainly with him. Why, he is a Galilean!”
60 Lakini Petro akasema, “Mwanaume, sijui usemalo.” Na mara, wakati akiongea, jogoo akawika.
But Peter said: “I do not know what you are speaking about.” Instantly, while he was still speaking, a cock crowed.
61 Akageuka, Bwana akamtazama Petro. Na Petro akalikumbuka neno la Bwana, pale alipomwambia, “Kabla ya jogoo kuwika leo, utanikana mimi mara tatu.”
And the Master turned and looked at Peter; and Peter remembered the words that the Master had said to him — “Before a cock has crowed to-day, you will disown me three times”;
62 Akienda nje, Petro akalia kwa uchungu mwingi.
and he went outside and wept bitterly.
63 Kisha wale wanaume waliokuwa wakimlinda Yesu, wakamdhihaki na kumpiga.
The men that held Jesus kept making sport of him and beating him.
64 Baada ya kumfunika macho, wakamuuliza, wakisema, “Tabiri! Ni nani aliyekupiga?”
They blindfolded him and then questioned him. “Now play the Prophet,” they said; “who was it that struck you?”
65 Wakaongea mambo mengine mengi kinyume cha Yesu na kumkufuru yeye.
And they heaped many other insults on him.
66 Mara ilipokuwa asubuhi, wazee wa watu walikusanyika pamoja, wakuu wa makuhani na waandishi. Wakampeleka kwenye Baraza,
At daybreak the National Council met — both the Chief Priests and the Teachers of the Law — and took Jesus before their High Council.
67 wakisema, “Kama wewe ni Kristo, tuambie.” Lakini yeye akawaambia, “Kama nikiwaambia, hamtaniamini,
“If you are the Christ,” they said, “tell us so.” “If I tell you,” replied Jesus, “you will not believe me;
68 na kama nikiwauliza hamtanijibu.”
and, if I question you, you will not answer.
69 Lakini kuanzia sasa na kuendelea, Mwana wa Adamu atakuwa amekaa mkono wa kuume wa nguvu ya Mungu.”
But from this hour ‘the Son of Man will be seated on the right hand of God Almighty.’”
70 Wote wakasema, “Kwa hiyo wewe ni Mwana wa Mungu?” Na Yesu akawaambia, “Ninyi mmesema mimi ndiye.”
“Are you, then, the Son of God?” they all asked. “It is true,” answered Jesus, “I am.”
71 Wakasema, “Kwa nini bado tunahitaji tena ushahidi? Kwa sababu sisi wenyewe tumesikia kutoka katika kinywa chake mwenyewe.”
At this they exclaimed: “Why do we want any more evidence? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips!”
