Proverbios 26
1 Como la nieve en verano y la lluvia cuando se corta el grano, el honor no es natural para los necios.
Like snow in summer and rain when the grain is being cut, so honour is not natural for the foolish.
2 Como el gorrión en su vagabundeo y la golondrina sin nido, así la maldición no llega sin una causa.
As the sparrow in her wandering and the swallow in her flight, so the curse does not come without a cause.
3 Un látigo para el caballo, una boca para el asno, y una vara para la espalda de los tontos.
A whip for the horse, a mouth-bit for the ass, and a rod for the back of the foolish.
4 No le des una respuesta necia al necio, o serás como él.
Do not give to the foolish man a foolish answer, or you will be like him.
5 Da una respuesta necia al necio, o parecerá sabio a sí mismo.
Give a foolish man a foolish answer, or he will seem wise to himself.
6 El que envía la noticia por mano de un necio, le corta los pies y bebe su daño.
He who sends news by the hand of a foolish man is cutting off his feet and drinking in damage.
7 Las piernas de alguien que no tiene poder de caminar cuelgan sueltas; así es un dicho sabio en la boca de los necios.
The legs of one who has no power of walking are hanging loose; so is a wise saying in the mouth of the foolish.
8 Dar honor a un hombre necio es como tratar de mantener una piedra fija en un cordón.
Giving honour to a foolish man is like attempting to keep a stone fixed in a cord.
9 Como un aguijón que sube a la mano de un hombre vencido por la bebida, así es una palabra sabia en la boca de un hombre necio.
Like a thorn which goes up into the hand of a man overcome by drink, so is a wise saying in the mouth of a foolish man.
10 Como el arquero que hiere a todos los que pasan, es un necio vencido por la bebida.
Like an archer wounding all who go by, is a foolish man overcome by drink.
11 Como un perro que regresa a su vómito, es el hombre tonto haciendo sus tontos actos otra vez.
Like a dog going back to the food which he has not been able to keep down, is the foolish man doing his foolish acts over again.
12 ¿Has visto a un hombre que parece ser sabio? Hay más esperanza para los necios que para él.
Have you seen a man who seems to himself to be wise? There is more hope for the foolish than for him.
13 El que odia el trabajo dice: Hay un león en el camino; un león está en las calles.
The hater of work says, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.
14 Una puerta se convierte en su columna, y el que odia el trabajo en su cama.
A door is turned on its pillar, and the hater of work on his bed.
15 El que odia el trabajo pone su mano profundamente en la vasija: volver a llevársela a la boca es un fastidio para él.
The hater of work puts his hand deep into the basin: lifting it again to his mouth is a weariness to him.
16 El que odia el trabajo en su opinión, se cree más sabio que siete hombres que son capaces de dar una respuesta con buen sentido.
The hater of work seems to himself wiser than seven men who are able to give an answer with good sense.
17 El que se confunde en una pelea que no le compete, es como el que toma un perro de las orejas mientras pasa.
He who gets mixed up in a fight which is not his business, is like one who takes a dog by the ears while it is going by.
18 Como el que está fuera de sí, lanza palos ardientes y flechas de muerte,
As one who is off his head sends about flaming sticks and arrows of death,
19 así es el hombre que se aprovecha del engaño de su prójimo, y dice: ¿solo era una broma?
So is the man who gets the better of his neighbour by deceit, and says, Am I not doing so in sport?
20 Sin madera, el fuego se apaga; y donde no hay una conversación secreta, el argumento se termina.
Without wood, the fire goes out; and where there is no secret talk, argument is ended.
21 Como aliento sobre carbones y leña en llamas, entonces un hombre dado a la discusión comienza una pelea.
Like breath on coals and wood on fire, so a man given to argument gets a fight started.
22 Las palabras de uno que dice mal de su prójimo en secreto son como alimento dulce, descienden a las partes internas del estómago.
The words of one who says evil of his neighbour secretly are like sweet food, they go down into the inner parts of the stomach.
23 Los labios lisos y el corazón malo son como un vaso de barro bañado en plata.
Smooth lips and an evil heart are like a vessel of earth plated with silver waste.
24 Con sus labios, el que odia hace que las cosas parezcan lo que no son, pero el engaño se acumula dentro de él;
With his lips the hater makes things seem what they are not, but deceit is stored up inside him;
25 Cuando dice palabras buenas, no tengas fe en él; porque en su corazón hay siete males.
When he says fair words, have no belief in him; for in his heart are seven evils:
26 Aunque su odio esté cubierto de engaño, su pecado será visto abiertamente antes de la reunión del pueblo.
Though his hate is covered with deceit, his sin will be seen openly before the meeting of the people.
27 El que hace un hoyo en la tierra, él mismo irá cayendo en ella; y sobre aquel por quien se hace rodar una piedra, lo aplastará.
He who makes a hole in the earth will himself go falling into it: and on him by whom a stone is rolled the stone will come back again.
28 Una lengua falsa tiene odio para aquellos que tienen corazones limpios, y una boca aduladora es la causa de la caída.
A false tongue has hate for those who have clean hearts, and a smooth mouth is a cause of falling.
