Nahum 1

1 La palabra acerca de Nínive. El libro de la visión de Nahum de Elcos.

The burden of Nineueh. The booke of the vision of Nahum the Elkeshite.

2 Él Señor es celoso y vengador; vengador es él Señor; el Señor envía castigos a quienes están en su contra, guarda rencor a sus enemigos.

God is ielous, and the Lord reuengeth: the Lord reuengeth: euen the Lord of anger, the Lord will take vengeance on his aduersaries, and he reserueth wrath for his enemies.

3 El Señor tarda en enojarse y tiene un gran poder, y no dejará ir al pecador sin castigo; el camino del Señor está en el viento y la tormenta, y las nubes son el polvo de sus pies.

The Lord is slow to anger, but he is great in power, and will not surely cleare the wicked: the Lord hath his way in ye whirlewind, and in the storme, and the cloudes are the dust of his feete.

4 Reprende al mar y lo seca, secando todos los ríos; Son destruidos Basán, y el Carmelo, y la flor del Líbano se marchita.

He rebuketh the sea, and dryeth it, and he dryeth vp all the riuers: Bashan is wasted and Carmel, and the floure of Lebanon is wasted.

5 Las montañas tiemblan a causa de él, y las colinas se derriten; la tierra se está desmoronando ante él, el mundo y todos los que están en él.

The mountaines tremble for him, and the hilles melt, and the earth is burnt at his sight, yea, the worlde, and all that dwell therein.

6 ¿Quién puede guardar su lugar ante de su ira? ¿Y quién puede resistir el calor de su furor? Su ira se desata como el fuego y él rompe las rocas.

Who can stande before his wrath? or who can abide in the fiercenesse of his wrath? his wrath is powred out like fire, and the rockes are broken by him.

7 El Señor es bueno, una fortaleza fuerte en el día de la angustia; y conoce a aquellos que confían en él.

The Lord is good and as a strong hold in the day of trouble, and he knoweth them that trust in him.

8 Pero como el agua que se desborda, se los llevará; él pondrá fin, conduciendo a sus enemigos a la oscuridad.

But passing ouer as with a flood, he will vtterly destroy the place thereof, and darknesse shall pursue his enemies.

9 ¿Qué tramas contra el Señor? él lo hará completa destrucción; sus enemigos no volverán a aparecer por segunda vez.

What doe ye imagine against the Lord? he wil make an vtter destruction: affliction shall not rise vp the seconde time.

10 Porque aunque son como espinas retorcidas, y ebrios con la bebida, vendrán a la destrucción como paja completamente secos.

For he shall come as vnto thornes folden one in another, and as vnto drunkards in their drunkennesse: they shall be deuoured as stubble fully dryed.

11 Uno ha salido de ti que está tramando el mal contra el Señor, consejero cuyos propósitos son perversos.

There commeth one out of thee that imagineth euill against the Lord, euen a wicked counsellour.

12 Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho: aunque estén listos y sean muchos; Los días de mi causa contra ti han terminado; serán cortados y pasarán. Aunque te he afligido, ya no te afligiré.

Thus saith the Lord, Though they be quiet, and also many, yet thus shall they be cut off when he shall passe by: though I haue afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more.

13 Y ahora dejaré que se te rompa el yugo y se separen tus cadenas.

For nowe I will breake his yoke from thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder.

14 El Señor ha dado una orden acerca de ti, que no tendrás descendencia que lleve tu nombre; destruiré la casa de tus dioses y arrancaré las imágenes y las imágenes de fundición; Te enterraré allí, porque es un lugar de vergüenza; porque eres completamente malvado.

And the Lord hath giuen a commandement concerning thee, that no more of thy name be sowen: out of the house of thy gods will I cut off the grauen, and the molten image: I will make it thy graue for thee, for thou art vile.

15 ¡Mira en las montañas los pies del que viene con buenas noticias, dando palabras de paz! Celebra tus fiestas, oh Judá, da cumplimiento a tus juramentos; porque nunca más el hombre malvado volverá a pasar por ti; él está completamente destruido.

Beholde vpon the mountaines the feete of him that declareth, and publisheth peace: O Iudah, keepe thy solemne feastes, perfourme thy vowes: for the wicked shall no more passe thorowe thee: he is vtterly cut off.
