2 Reyes 22

1 Cuando Josías comenzó a reinar era de ocho años, y reinó en Jerusalén treinta y un años. El nombre de su madre fue Jedida hija de Adaía de Boscat.

Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.

2 E hizo lo recto en ojos del SEÑOR, y anduvo en todo el camino de David su padre, sin apartarse a diestra ni a siniestra.

He did that which was right in Yahweh’s eyes, and walked in all the ways of David his father, and didn’t turn away to the right hand or to the left.

3 Y a los dieciocho años del rey Josías, aconteció que envió el rey a Safán hijo de Azalía, hijo de Mesulam, escriba, a la Casa del SEÑOR, diciendo:

In the eighteenth year of King Josiah, the king sent Shaphan, the son of Azaliah the son of Meshullam, the scribe, to Yahweh’s house, saying,

4 Ve a Hilcías, sumo sacerdote, que cumpla el dinero que se ha metido en la Casa del SEÑOR, que han recogido del pueblo los guardianes de la puerta,

“Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may count the money which is brought into Yahweh’s house, which the keepers of the threshold have gathered of the people.

5 y que lo pongan en manos de los que hacen la obra, que tienen cargo de la Casa del SEÑOR, y que lo entreguen a los que hacen la obra en la Casa del SEÑOR, para reparar las aberturas de la Casa;

Let them deliver it into the hand of the workers who have the oversight of Yahweh’s house; and let them give it to the workers who are in Yahweh’s house, to repair the damage to the house,

6 a los carpinteros, a los maestros y albañiles, para comprar madera y piedra de cantería para reparar la Casa;

to the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons, and for buying timber and cut stone to repair the house.

7 y que no se les cuente el dinero cuyo manejo se les confiare, porque ellos proceden con fidelidad.

However, no accounting shall be asked of them for the money delivered into their hand, for they deal faithfully.”

8 Entonces dijo el sumo sacerdote Hilcías a Safán escriba: El libro de la ley he hallado en la Casa del SEÑOR. E Hilcías dio el libro a Safán para que lo leyese.

Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the scribe, “I have found the book of the law in Yahweh’s house.” Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan, and he read it.

9 Viniendo luego Safán escriba al rey, dio al rey la respuesta, y dijo: Tus siervos han juntado el dinero que se halló en el templo, y lo han entregado en poder de los que hacen la obra, que tienen cargo de la Casa del SEÑOR.

Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, “Your servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hands of the workmen who have the oversight of Yahweh’s house.”

10 Asimismo Safán escriba declaró al rey, diciendo: Hilcías el sacerdote me ha dado un libro. Y lo leyó Safán delante del rey.

Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, “Hilkiah the priest has delivered a book to me.” Then Shaphan read it before the king.

11 Y cuando el rey oyó las palabras del libro de la ley, rasgó sus vestidos.

When the king had heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes.

12 Y mandó el rey a Hilcías el sacerdote, y a Ahicam hijo de Safán, y a Acbor hijo de Micaías, y a Safán escriba, y a Asaías siervo del rey, diciendo:

The king commanded Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Achbor the son of Micaiah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying,

13 Id, y preguntad al SEÑOR por mí, y por el pueblo, por todo Judá, acerca de las palabras de este libro que se ha hallado; porque grande ira del SEÑOR es la que ha sido encendida contra nosotros, por cuanto nuestros padres no oyeron las palabras de este libro, para hacer conforme a todo lo que nos fue escrito.

“Go inquire of Yahweh for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found; for great is Yahweh’s wrath that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not listened to the words of this book, to do according to all that which is written concerning us.”

14 Entonces fue Hilcías el sacerdote, y Ahicam y Acbor y Safán y Asaías, a Hulda profetisa, mujer de Salum hijo de Ticva hijo de Harhas, guarda de las vestiduras, la cual moraba en Jerusalén en la casa de la doctrina, y hablaron con ella.

So Hilkiah the priest, Ahikam, Achbor, Shaphan, and Asaiah went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvah, the son of Harhas, keeper of the wardrobe (now she lived in Jerusalem in the second quarter); and they talked with her.

15 Y ella les dijo: Así dice el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: Decid al varón que os envió a mí:

She said to them, “Yahweh the God of Israel says, ‘Tell the man who sent you to me,

16 Así dice el SEÑOR: He aquí yo traigo mal sobre este lugar, y sobre los que en él moran, a saber, todas las palabras del libro que ha leído el rey de Judá;

“Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will bring evil on this place and on its inhabitants, even all the words of the book which the king of Judah has read.

17 por cuanto me dejaron a mí, y quemaron incienso a dioses ajenos, provocándome a ira en toda obra de sus manos; y mi furor se ha encendido contra este lugar, y no se apagará.

Because they have forsaken me and have burned incense to other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the work of their hands, therefore my wrath shall be kindled against this place, and it will not be quenched.’”

18 Mas al rey de Judá que os ha enviado para que preguntaseis al SEÑOR, diréis así: Así dice el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: Por cuanto oíste las palabras del libro,

But to the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of Yahweh, tell him, “Yahweh the God of Israel says, ‘Concerning the words which you have heard,

19 y tu corazón se enterneció, y te humillaste delante del SEÑOR, cuando oíste lo que yo he pronunciado contra este lugar y contra sus moradores, que serían asolados y malditos, y rasgaste tus vestidos, y lloraste en mi presencia, también yo te he oído, dice el SEÑOR.

because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before Yahweh when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and have torn your clothes and wept before me, I also have heard you,’ says Yahweh.

20 Por tanto, he aquí yo te recogeré con tus padres, y tú serás recogido a tu sepulcro en paz, y no verán tus ojos todo el mal que yo traigo sobre este lugar. Y ellos dieron al rey la respuesta.

‘Therefore behold, I will gather you to your fathers, and you will be gathered to your grave in peace. Your eyes will not see all the evil which I will bring on this place.’”’” So they brought this message back to the king.
