1 Y cuando el rey Ezequías lo oyó, rasgó sus vestidos, y se cubrió de cilicio, y entró en la Casa del SEÑOR.
And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of Jehovah.
2 Y envió a Eliacim el mayordomo, y a Sebna escriba, y a los ancianos de los sacerdotes, vestidos de cilicio a Isaías profeta hijo de Amós,
And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
3 que le dijesen: Así dijo Ezequías: Este día es día de angustia, y de reprensión, y de blasfemia; porque los hijos han venido hasta la rotura, y la que da a luz no tiene fuerzas.
And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of contumely; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
4 Por ventura oirá el SEÑOR tu Dios todas las palabras de Rabsaces, al cual el rey de los Asirios su señor ha enviado para injuriar al Dios vivo, y reprenderá las palabras, las cuales el SEÑOR tu Dios ha oído; por tanto, eleva oración por las reliquias que aun se hallan.
It may be Jehovah thy God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which Jehovah thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that is left.
5 Vinieron pues los siervos del rey Ezequías a Isaías.
So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
6 E Isaías les respondió: Así diréis a vuestro señor: Así dijo el SEÑOR: No temas por las palabras que has oído, con las cuales me han blasfemado los siervos del rey de Asiria.
And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith Jehovah, Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.
7 He aquí yo pongo en él un espíritu, y oirá rumor, y volverá a su tierra; y yo haré que en su tierra caiga a cuchillo.
Behold, I will put a spirit in him, and he shall hear tidings, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
8 Y regresando Rabsaces, halló al rey de Asiria combatiendo a Libna; porque había oído que se había partido de Laquis.
So Rabshakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah; for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
9 Y oyó decir de Tirhaca rey de Etiopía: He aquí es salido para hacerte guerra. Entonces volvió él, y envió embajadores a Ezequías, diciendo:
And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee, he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,
10 Así diréis a Ezequías rey de Judá: No te engañe tu Dios en quien tú confías, para decir: Jerusalén no será entregada en mano del rey de Asiria.
Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
11 He aquí tú has oído lo que han hecho los reyes de Asiria a todas las tierras, destruyéndolas, ¿y has tú de escapar?
Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?
12 ¿Por ventura los libraron los dioses de los gentiles, que mis padres destruyeron, es a saber, Gozán, y Harán, y Resef, y los hijos de Edén que estaban en Telasar?
Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden that were in Telassar?
13 ¿Dónde está el rey de Hamat, el rey de Arfad, el rey de la ciudad de Sefarvaim, de Hena, y de Iva?
Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?
14 Y tomó Ezequías las letras de mano de los embajadores; y después que las hubo leído, subió a la Casa del SEÑOR, y las extendió Ezequías delante del SEÑOR.
And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up unto the house of Jehovah, and spread it before Jehovah.
15 Y oró Ezequías delante del SEÑOR, diciendo: SEÑOR Dios de Israel, que habitas sobre los querubines, tú solo eres Dios a todos los reinos de la tierra; tú hiciste el cielo y la tierra.
And Hezekiah prayed before Jehovah, and said, O Jehovah, the God of Israel, that sittest [above] the cherubim, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
16 Inclina, oh SEÑOR, tu oído, y oye; abre, oh SEÑOR, tus ojos, y mira; y oye las palabras de Senaquerib, que ha enviado a blasfemar al Dios viviente.
Incline thine ear, O Jehovah, and hear; open thine eyes, O Jehovah, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, wherewith he hath sent him to defy the living God.
17 Es verdad, oh SEÑOR, que los reyes de Asiria han destruido los gentiles y sus tierras;
Of a truth, Jehovah, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands,
18 y que pusieron en el fuego a sus dioses, por cuanto ellos no eran dioses, sino obra de manos de hombres, madera o piedra, y así los destruyeron.
and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.
19 Ahora, pues, oh SEÑOR Dios nuestro, sálvanos ahora de su mano, para que sepan todos los reinos de la tierra que tú solo eres el SEÑOR Dios.
Now therefore, O Jehovah our God, save thou us, I beseech thee, out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou Jehovah art God alone.
20 Entonces Isaías hijo de Amós envió a decir a Ezequías: Así dijo el SEÑOR, Dios de Israel: Lo que me rogaste acerca de Senaquerib rey de Asiria, he oído.
Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of Israel, Whereas thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard [thee].
21 Esta es la palabra que el SEÑOR ha hablado contra él: ¿Te ha menospreciado? ¿Te ha escarnecido, oh virgen hija de Sion? Ha movido su cabeza detrás de ti hija de Jerusalén.
This is the word that Jehovah hath spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion hath despised thee and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
22 ¿A quién has injuriado y a quién has blasfemado? ¿Y contra quién has hablado alto, y has alzado en alto tus ojos? Contra el Santo de Israel.
Whom hast thou defied and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice and lifted up thine eyes on high? [even] against the Holy One of Israel.
23 Por mano de tus mensajeros has proferido injuria contra el Señor, y has dicho: Con la multitud de mis carros he subido a las cumbres de los montes; a las cuestas del Líbano, y cortaré sus altos cedros, sus hayas escogidas; y entraré a la morada de su término, al monte de su Carmel.
By thy messengers thou hast defied the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir-trees thereof; and I will enter into his farthest lodging-place, the forest of his fruitful field.
24 Yo he cavado y bebido las aguas ajenas, y he secado con las plantas de mis pies todos los ríos de munición.
I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet will I dry up all the rivers of Egypt.
25 ¿Nunca has oído que desde largo tiempo atrás la hice yo, y de días antiguos la he formado? Y ahora la he hecho venir, y será para destrucción de ciudades fuertes en montones de ruinas.
Hast thou not heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? now have I brought it to pass, that it should be thine to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps.
26 Y sus moradores, cortos de manos, quebrantados y confusos, serán cual hierba del campo, como legumbre verde; heno de los tejados, que antes que venga a madurez es seco.
Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as grain blasted before it is grown up.
27 Yo he sabido tu asentarte, tu salir y tu entrar, y tu furor contra mí.
But I know thy sitting down, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy raging against me.
28 Por cuanto te has airado contra mí, y tu estruendo ha subido a mis oídos; por tanto yo pondré mi anzuelo en tus narices, y mi freno en tus labios, y yo te haré volver por el camino por donde viniste.
Because of thy raging against me, and because thine arrogancy is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
29 Y esto te será por señal: Este año comerás lo que nacerá de suyo, y el segundo año lo que volverá a nacer de suyo; y el tercer año haréis sementera, y segaréis, y plantaréis viñas, y comeréis el fruto de ellas.
And this shall be the sign unto thee: ye shall eat this year that which groweth of itself, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
30 Y lo que hubiere escapado, lo que habrá quedado de la casa de Judá, volverá a echar raíz abajo, y hará fruto arriba.
And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
31 Porque saldrán de Jerusalén remanente, y salvación del monte de Sion; el celo del SEÑOR de los ejércitos hará esto.
For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of mount Zion they that shall escape: the zeal of Jehovah shall perform this.
32 Por tanto, el SEÑOR dice así del rey de Asiria: No entrará en esta ciudad, ni echará saeta en ella; ni vendrá delante de ella escudo, ni será echado contra ella baluarte.
Therefore thus saith Jehovah concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come unto this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.
33 Por el camino que vino se volverá, y no entrará en esta ciudad, dice el SEÑOR.
By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and he shall not come unto this city, saith Jehovah.
34 Porque yo ampararé a esta ciudad para salvarla, por amor de mí, y por amor de David mi siervo.
For I will defend this city to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
35 Y aconteció que la misma noche salió el ángel del SEÑOR, e hirió en el campamento de los Asirios ciento ochenta y cinco mil hombres; y cuando se levantaron por la mañana, he aquí los cuerpos de los muertos.
And it came to pass that night, that the angel of Jehovah went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.
36 Entonces Senaquerib, rey de Asiria se partió, y se fue de allí y se estuvo en Nínive.
So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
37 Y aconteció, que estando él adorando en el templo de Nisroc su dios, Adramelec y Sarezer sus hijos lo hirieron a cuchillo; y huyeron a tierra de Ararat. Y reinó en su lugar Esar-hadón su hijo.
And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esar-haddon his son reigned in his stead.
