1 LIBRO de la generacion de Jesu-Cristo, hijo de David, hijo de Abraham.
The book of the lineage of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
2 Abraham engendró á Isaac: é Isaac engendró á Jacob: y Jacob engendró á Júdas y á sus hermanos:
Abraham conceived Isaac. And Isaac conceived Jacob. And Jacob conceived Judah and his brothers.
3 Y Júdas engendró de Thamar á Pháres y á Zara: y Pháres engendró á Esrom: y Esrom engendró á Aram:
And Judah conceived Perez and Zerah by Tamar. And Perez conceived Hezron. And Hezron conceived Ram.
4 Y Aram engendró á Aminadab: y Aminadab engendró á Naason: y Naason engendró á Salmon:
And Ram conceived Amminadab. And Amminadab conceived Nahshon. And Nahshon conceived Salmon.
5 Y Salmon engendró de Rahab á Bóoz: y Bóoz engendró de Ruth á Obed: y Obed engendró á Jessé:
And Salmon conceived Boaz by Rahab. And Boaz conceived Obed by Ruth. And Obed conceived Jesse.
6 Y Jessé engendró al rey David: y el rey David engendró á Salomon de la [que fué mujer] de Urías:
And Jesse conceived king David. And king David conceived Solomon, by her who had been the wife of Uriah.
7 Y Salomon engendró á Roboam: y Roboam engendró á Abia: y Abia engendró á Asá:
And Solomon conceived Rehoboam. And Rehoboam conceived Abijah. And Abijah conceived Asa.
8 Y Asá engendró á Josaphat: y Josaphat engendró á Joram: y Joram engendró á Ozías:
And Asa conceived Jehoshaphat. And Jehoshaphat conceived Joram. And Joram conceived Uzziah.
9 Y Ozías engendró á Joatam: y Joatam engendró á Achaz: y Achaz engendró á Ezechias:
And Uzziah conceived Jotham. And Jotham conceived Ahaz. And Ahaz conceived Hezekiah.
10 Y Ezechias engendró á Manasés: y Manasés engendró á Amon: y Amon engendró á Josías:
And Hezekiah conceived Manasseh. And Manasseh conceived Amos. And Amos conceived Josiah.
11 Y Josías engendró á Jeconías y á sus hermanos, en la trasmigracion de Babilonia:
And Josiah conceived Jechoniah and his brothers in the transmigration of Babylon.
12 Y despues de la trasmigracion de Babilonia, Jeconías engendró á Salatiel: y Salatiel engendró á Zorobabel:
And after the transmigration of Babylon, Jechoniah conceived Shealtiel. And Shealtiel conceived Zerubbabel.
13 Y Zorobabel engendró á Abiud: y Abiud engendró á Eliaquim: y Eliaquim engendró á Azor:
And Zerubbabel conceived Abiud. And Abiud conceived Eliakim. And Eliakim conceived Azor.
14 Y Azor engendró á Sadoc: y Sadoc engendró á Aquim: y Aquim engendró á Eliud:
And Azor conceived Zadok. And Zadok conceived Achim. And Achim conceived Eliud.
15 Y Eliud engendró á Eleázar: y Eleázar engendró á Matan: y Matan engendró á Jacob:
And Eliud conceived Eleazar. And Eleazar conceived Matthan. And Matthan conceived Jacob.
16 Y Jacob engendró á José, marido de María, de la cual nació Jesus, el cual es llamado el Cristo.
And Jacob conceived Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 De manera que todas las generaciones desde Abraham hasta David, [son] catorce generaciones: y desde David hasta la trasmigracion de Babilonia, catorce generaciones: y desde la trasmigracion de Babilonia hasta Cristo, catorce generaciones.
And so, all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the transmigration of Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the transmigration of Babylon to the Christ, fourteen generations.
18 Y el nacimiento de Jesu-Cristo fué así: que siendo María su madre desposada con José, ántes que se juntasen, se halló haber concebido del Espíritu Santo.
Now the procreation of the Christ occurred in this way. After his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they lived together, she was found to have conceived in her womb by the Holy Spirit.
19 Y José su marido, como era justo y no quisiese infamarla, quiso dejarla secretamente.
Then Joseph, her husband, since he was just and was not willing to hand her over, preferred to send her away secretly.
20 Y pensando él en esto, hé aquí el ángel del Señor le aparece en sueños, diciendo: José, hijo de David, no temas de recibir á María tu mujer: porque lo que en ella es engendrado, del Espíritu Santo es.
But while thinking over these things, behold, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in his sleep, saying: “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to accept Mary as your wife. For what has been formed in her is of the Holy Spirit.
21 Y parirá Hijo, y llamarás su nombre JESUS, porque él salvará su pueblo de sus pecados.
And she shall give birth to a son. And you shall call his name JESUS. For he shall accomplish the salvation of his people from their sins.”
22 Todo esto aconteció para que se cumpliese lo que fué dicho por el Señor por el profeta, que dijo:
Now all this occurred in order to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:
23 Hé aquí la vírgen concebirá, y parirá hijo, y llamarás su nombre Emmanuel, que declarado es: Con nosotros Dios.
“Behold, a virgin shall conceive in her womb, and she shall give birth to a son. And they shall call his name Emmanuel, which means: God is with us.”
24 Y despertando José del sueño, hizo como el ángel del Señor le habia mandado, y recibió á su mujer.
Then Joseph, arising from sleep, did just as the Angel of the Lord had instructed him, and he accepted her as his wife.
25 Y no la conoció hasta que parió á su Hijo primogénito: y llamó su nombre JESUS.
And he knew her not, yet she bore her son, the firstborn. And he called his name JESUS.
