San Lucas 11
1 Y ACONTECIÓ que estando él orando en un lugar, como acabó, uno de sus discípulos le dijo: Señor, enséñanos á orar, como tambien Juan enseñó á sus discípulos.
When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”
2 Y les dijo: Cuando orareis, decid: Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, sea tu nombre santificado. Venga tu reino. Sea hecha tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así tambien en la tierra.
He said to them, “When you pray, say, ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
3 El pan nuestro de cada dia, dános[le] hoy.
Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 Y perdónanos nuestros pecados, porque tambien nosotros perdonamos á todos los que nos deben. Y no nos metas en tentacion, mas líbranos del malo.
Forgive us our sins, for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’”
5 Díjoles tambien: ¿Quien de vosotros tendrá un amigo, é irá á él á media noche, y le dirá: Amigo, préstame tres panes:
He said to them, “Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,
6 Porque un amigo mio ha venido á mí de camino, y no tengo qué ponerle delante?
for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’
7 Y [si] él de dentro respondiendo, dijere: No me seas molesto; la puerta está ya cerrada, y mis niños están conmigo en cama; no puedo levantarme, y darte:
and he from within will answer and say, ‘Do not bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give it to you’?
8 Os digo, que aunque no se levante á darle por ser su amigo, cierto por su importunidad se levantará, y le dará todo lo que habrá menester.
I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.
9 Y yo os digo: Pedid, y se os dará: buscad, y hallaréis; tocad, y os será abierto.
“I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.
10 Porque todo aquel que pide, recibe; y el que busca halla; y al que toca, se abre.
For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.
11 ¿Y cuál padre de vosotros, si su hijo le pidiere pan, le dará una piedra? ó, si pescado, ¿en lugar de pescado le dará una serpiente?
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?
12 O, si [le] pidiere un huevo, ¿le dará un escorpion?
Or if he asks for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he?
13 Pues si vosotros, siendo malos, sabeis dar buenas dádivas á vuestros hijos, ¿cuánto más vuestro Padre celestial dará el Espíritu Santo á los que lo pidieren de él?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”
14 Y estaba él lanzando un demonio el cual era mudo: y aconteció que salido fuera el demonio, el mudo habló, y las gentes se maravillaron.
He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled.
15 Y algunos de ellos decian: En Beelzebul, príncipe de los demonios, echa fuera los demonios.
But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”
16 Y otros, tentando, pedian de el señal del cielo.
Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven.
17 Mas él, conociendo los pensamientos de ellos, les dijo: Todo reino dividido contra sí mismo es asolado, y una casa [dividida] contra sí misma, cae.
But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. A house divided against itself falls.
18 Y si tambien Satanás está dividido contra sí mismo, ¿cómo estará en pié su reino? porque decís, que en Beelzebul echo yo fuera los demonios.
If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.
19 Pues si yo echo fuera los demonios en Beelzebul, ¿vuestros hijos en quién los echan fuera? por tanto ellos serán vuestros jueces.
But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they will be your judges.
20 Mas si en el dedo de Dios echo fuera los demonios, cierto el reino de Dios ha llegado á vosotros.
But if I by God’s finger cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come to you.
21 Cuando el fuerte armada guarda su atrio, en paz está lo que posee.
“When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe.
22 Mas si sobreviniendo [otro] más fuerte que él, le venciere, le toma todas sus armas en que confiaba, y reparte sus despojos.
But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his plunder.
23 El que no es conmigo, contra mí es, y el que conmigo no recoge, desparrama.
“He who is not with me is against me. He who does not gather with me scatters.
24 Cuando el espíritu inmundo saliere del hombre, anda por lugares secos buscando reposo; y no hallándo[le, ] dice: Me volveré á mi casa, de donde salí.
The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of the man, passes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will turn back to my house from which I came out.’
25 Y viniendo la halla barrida y adornada.
When he returns, he finds it swept and put in order.
26 Entónces va, y toma otros siete espíritus peores que el; Y entrados, habitan allí; y lo postrero del tal hombre es peor que lo primero.
Then he goes and takes seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first.”
27 Y aconteció que diciendo estas cosas, una mujer de la compañía levantando la voz, le dijo: Bienaventurado el vientre que te trajo, y los pechos, que mamaste.
It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!”
28 Y él dijo: Antes bienaventurados los que oyen la palabra de Dios y la guardan.
But he said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”
29 Y juntándose las gentes á él, comenzó á decir: Esta generacion mala es: señal busca, mas señal no le será dada, sino la señal de Jonás.
When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say, “This is an evil generation. It seeks after a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet.
30 Porque como Jonás fué señal á los Ninivitas, así tambien será el Hijo del hombre á esta generacion.
For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so the Son of Man will also be to this generation.
31 La reina del Austro se levantará en juicio con los hombres de esta generacion, y los condenará; porque vino de los fines de la tierra á oir la sabiduría de Salomon; y hé aquí más que Salomon en este lugar.
The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation and will condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here.
32 los hombres de Nínive se levantarán en juicio con esta generacion, y la condenarán: porque á la predicacion de Jonás se arrepintieron; y hé aquí más que Jonás en este lugar.
The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and behold, one greater than Jonah is here.
33 Nadie pone en oculto la antorcha encendida, ni debajo del almud; sino en el candelero, para que los que entran, vean la luz.
“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light.
34 La antorcha del cuerpo es el ojo: pues si tu ojo fuere simple, tambien todo tu cuerpo será resplandeciente: mas si fuere malo, tambien tu cuerpo será tenebroso.
The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness.
35 Mira pues, si la lumbre que en tí hay, es tinieblas.
Therefore see whether the light that is in you is not darkness.
36 Así que [siendo] todo tu cuerpo resplandeciente, no teniendo alguna parte de tiniebla, será todo luminoso, como cuando una antorcha de resplandor te alumbra.
If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light.”
37 Y luego que hubo hablado, rogóle un Fariséo que comiese con él: y entrado Jesus, se sentó á la mesa.
Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in and sat at the table.
38 Y el Fariséo como [le] vió, maravillóse de que no se lavó ántes de comer.
When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed himself before dinner.
39 Y el Señor le dijo: Ahora vosotros los Fariséos lo de fuera del vaso y del plato limpiais; mas lo interior de vosotros está lleno de rapiña y de maldad.
The Lord said to him, “Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.
40 Necios, ¿él que hizo lo de fuera, no hizo tambien lo de dentro?
You foolish ones, did not he who made the outside make the inside also?
41 Empero de lo que os resta dad limosna; y hé aquí, todo os será limpio.
But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you.
42 Mas ¡ay de vosotros, Fariséos! que diezmais la menta, y la ruda, y toda hortaliza: mas el juicio y la caridad de Dios pasais de largo. Pues estas cosas era necesario hacer, y no dejar las otras.
But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and God’s love. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.
43 ¡Ay de vosotros Fariséos! que amais las primeras sillas en las sinagogas, y las salutaciones en las plazas.
Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces.
44 ¡Ay de vosotros! que sois como sepulcros que no se ven, y los hombres que andan encima no [lo] saben.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them do not know it.”
45 Y respondiendo uno de los doctores de la ley, le dice: Maestro, cuando dices esto, tambien nos afrentas á nosotros.
One of the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying this you insult us also.”
46 Y el dijo: ¡Ay de vosotros tambien, doctores de la ley! que cargais los hombres con cargas que no pueden llevar; mas vosotros ni aun con un dedo tocais las cargas.
He said, “Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves will not even lift one finger to help carry those burdens.
47 ¡Ay de vosotros! que edificais los sepulcros de los profetas, y los mataron vuestros padres.
Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
48 De cierto dais testimonio que consentís en los hechos de vuestros padres: porque á la verdad ellos los mataron, mas vosotros edificais sus sepulcros.
So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs.
49 Por tanto la sabiduría de Dios tambien dijo: Enviaré á ellos profetas, y apóstoles, y de ellos [á unos] matarán, y [á otros] perseguirán;
Therefore also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute,
50 Para que de esta generacion sea demandada la sangre de todos los profetas, que ha sido derramada desde la fundacion del mundo;
that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation,
51 Desde la sangre de Abel, hasta la sangre de Zacarías, que murió entre el altar y el templo: así os digo, será demandada de esta generacion.
from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.
52 ¡Ay de vosotros, doctores de la ley! que habeis quitado la llave de la ciencia: vosotros mismos no entrasteis, y á los que entraban impedisteis.
Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.”
53 Y diciéndoles estas cosas, los escribas y los Fariséos comenzaron á apretar[lo] en gran manera, y á provocarle á que hablase de muchas cosas;
As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him,
54 Asechándole, y procurando cazar algo de su boca para acusarle.
lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.
