2 Samuel 1

1 Y ACONTECIÓ después de la muerte de Saúl, que vuelto David de la derrota de los Amalecitas, estuvo dos días en Siclag:

Forsothe it was doon, after that Saul was deed, that Dauid turnede ayen fro the sleyng of Amalech, and dwellide twei daies in Sichelech.

2 Y al tercer día acaeció, que vino uno del campo de Saúl, rotos sus vestidos, y tierra sobre su cabeza: y llegando á David, postróse en tierra, é hizo reverencia.

Forsothe in the thridde dai a man apperide, comynge fro the castels of Saul with the cloth to-rent, and his heed spreynt with dust; and as he cam to Dauid, he felde on his face, and worschipide.

3 Y preguntóle David: ¿De dónde vienes? Y él respondió: Heme escapado del campo de Israel.

And Dauid seide to hym, Fro whennus comest thou? Which seide to Dauid, Y fledde fro the castels of Israel.

4 Y David le dijo: ¿Qué ha acontecido? ruégote que me lo digas. Y él respondió: El pueblo huyó de la batalla, y también muchos del pueblo cayeron y son muertos: también Saúl y Jonathán su hijo murieron.

And Dauid seide to hym, What is the word which is doon; schewe thou to me. And he seide, The puple fledde fro the batel, and many of the puple felden, and ben deed; but also Saul, and Jonathas, his sonne, perischyden.

5 Y dijo David á aquel mancebo que le daba las nuevas: ¿Cómo sabes que Saúl es muerto, y Jonathán su hijo?

And Dauid seide to the yong man, that telde to hym, Wherof woost thou, that Saul is deed, and Jonathas, his sonne?

6 Y el mancebo que le daba las nuevas respondió: Casualmente vine al monte de Gilboa, y hallé á Saúl que estaba recostado sobre su lanza, y venían tras él carros y gente de á caballo.

And the yong man seide, that telde to hym, Bi hap Y cam in to the hil of Gelboe, and Saul lenyde on his spere; forsothe charis and knyytis neiyiden to hym;

7 Y como él miró atrás, vióme y llamóme; y yo dije: Heme aquí.

and he turnede bihynde his bak, `and siy me, and clepide. To whom whanne Y hadde answeride, Y am present; he seide to me, Who art thou?

8 Y él me dijo: ¿Quién eres tú? Y yo le respondí: Soy Amalecita.

And Y seide to hym, Y am a man of Amalech.

9 Y él me volvió á decir: Yo te ruego que te pongas sobre mí, y me mates, porque me toman angustias, y toda mi alma está aún en mí.

And he spak to me, Stonde thou on me, and sle me; for angwischis holden me, and yit al my lijf is in me.

10 Yo entonces púseme sobre él, y matélo, porque sabía que no podía vivir después de su caída: y tomé la corona que tenía en su cabeza, y la ajorca que traía en su brazo, y helas traído acá á mi señor.

And Y stood on hym, and Y killide hym; for Y wiste that he myyte not lyue aftir the fallyng; and Y took the diademe, that was in his heed, and the bye fro his arm, and Y brouyte hidur to thee, my lord.

11 Entonces David trabando de sus vestidos, rompiólos; y lo mismo hicieron los hombres que estaban con él.

Forsothe Dauid took and to-rente hise clothis, and the men that weren with hym;

12 Y lloraron y lamentaron, y ayunaron hasta la tarde, por Saúl y por Jonathán su hijo, y por el pueblo de Jehová, y por la casa de Israel: porque habían caído á cuchillo.

and thei weiliden, and wepten, and fastiden `til to euentid, on Saul, and Jonathas, his sone, and on the puple of the Lord, and on the hows of Israel, for thei hadden feld bi swerd.

13 Y David dijo á aquel mancebo que le había traído las nuevas: ¿De dónde eres tú? Y él respondió: Yo soy hijo de un extranjero, Amalecita.

And Dauid seide to the yong man, that telde to him, Of whennus art thou? And he answeride, Y am the sone of a man comelyng, of a man of Amalech.

14 Y díjole David: ¿Cómo no tuviste temor de extender tu mano para matar al ungido de Jehová?

And Dauid seide to him, Whi dreddist thou not to sende thine hond, that thou schuldist sle the crist of the Lord?

15 Entonces llamó David uno de los mancebos, y díjole: Llega, y mátalo. Y él lo hirió, y murió.

And Dauid clepide oon of hise children, and seide, Go thou, and falle on hym. Which smoot that yong man, and he was deed.

16 Y David le dijo: Tu sangre sea sobre tu cabeza, pues que tu boca atestiguó contra ti, diciendo: Yo maté al ungido de Jehová.

And Dauid seide to hym, Thi blood be on thin heed; for thi mouth spak ayens thee, and seide, Y killide the crist of the Lord.

17 Y endechó David á Saúl y á Jonathán su hijo con esta endecha.

Forsooth Dauid biweilide sych a weilyng on Saul, and on Jonathas, his sone;

18 (Dijo también que enseñasen al arco á los hijos de Judá. He aquí que está escrito en el libro del derecho: )

and comaundide, that thei schulden teche the sones of Juda weilyng, as it is writun in the Book of Just Men. And Dauid seyde, Israel, biholde thou, for these men that ben deed, woundid on thin hiye placis;

19 ¡Perecido ha la gloria de Israel sobre tus montañas! ¡Cómo han caído los valientes!

the noble men of Israel ben slayn on thin hillis.

20 No lo denunciéis en Gath, no deis las nuevas en las plazas de Ascalón; porque no se alegren las hijas de los Filisteos, porque no salten de gozo las hijas de los incircuncisos.

Hou felden stronge men? nyle ye telle in Geth, nether telle ye in the weilottis of Ascolon; lest perauenture the douytris of Filisteis be glad, lest the douytris of vncircumcidid men `be glad.

21 Montes de Gilboa, ni rocío ni lluvia [caiga] sobre vosotros, ni [seáis] tierras de ofrendas; porque allí fué desechado el escudo de los valientes, el escudo de Saúl, como si no hubiera sido ungido con aceite.

Hillis of Gelboe, neither dew nethir reyn come on you, nether the feeldis of firste fruytis be; for the scheeld of stronge men was cast awey there, the scheeld of Saul, as `if he were not anoyntid with oile.

22 Sin sangre de muertos, sin grosura de valientes, el arco de Jonathán nunca volvió, ni la espada de Saúl se tornó vacía.

Of the blood of slayn men, of the fatnesse of strong men, the arewe of Jonathas yede neuer abak, and the swerd of Saul turnede not ayen void.

23 Saúl y Jonathán, amados y queridos en su vida, en su muerte tampoco fueron apartados: más ligeros que águilas, más fuertes que leones.

Saul and Jonathas amyable, and fair in her lijf, weren not departid also in deeth; thei weren swiftere than eglis, strongere than liouns.

24 Hijas de Israel, llorad sobre Saúl, que os vestía de escarlata en regocijos, que adornaba vuestras ropas con ornamentos de oro.

Douytris of Israel, wepe ye on Saul, that clothide you with fyn reed colourid in delicis, that yaf goldun ournementis to youre atyre.

25 ¡Cómo han caído los valientes en medio de la batalla! ¡Jonathán, muerto en tus alturas!

Hou `felden doun stronge men in batel?

26 Angustia tengo por ti, hermano mío Jonathán, que me fuiste muy dulce: más maravilloso me fué tu amor, que el amor de las mujeres.

Jonathas was slayn in the hiye places. Y make sorewe on thee, my brother Jonathas, ful fair, `and amyable more than the loue of wymmen; as a modir loueth oon aloone sone, so Y louyde thee.

27 ¡Cómo han caído los valientes, y perecieron las armas de guerra!

Hou therfor `felden doun stronge men, and armeris of batel perischide?
