Tito 3
1 Amonéstales que se sujeten a los principados y potestades, que obedezcan, que estén aparejados a toda buena obra:
Pvt them in remembrance that they bee subiect to the Principalities and powers, and that they bee obedient, and ready to euery good woorke,
2 Que no digan mal de nadie, que no sean pendencieros, mas modestos, mostrando toda mansedumbre para con todos los hombres.
That they speake euill of no man, that they be no fighters, but soft, shewing all meekenesse vnto all men.
3 Porque también éramos nosotros insensatos en otro tiempo, rebeldes, errados, sirviendo a concupiscencias y deleites diversos, viviendo en malicia y en envidia, aborrecibles, aborreciendo los unos a los otros:
For wee our selues also were in times past vnwise, disobedient, deceiued, seruing the lustes and diuers pleasures, liuing in maliciousnes and enuie, hatefull, and hating one another:
4 Mas cuando se manifestó la bondad del Salvador nuestro Dios, y su amor para con los hombres,
But when that bountifulnesse and that loue of God our Sauiour toward man appeared,
5 No por las obras de justicia que nosotros habíamos hecho, mas por su misericordia, nos salvó por el lavamiento de la regeneración, y de la renovación del Espíritu Santo;
Not by the woorkes of righteousnesse, which we had done, but according to his mercie he saued vs, by the washing of the newe birth, and the renewing of the holy Ghost,
6 El cual derramó en nosotros ricamente por Jesu Cristo Salvador nuestro:
Which he shed on vs aboundantly, through Iesus Christ our Sauiour,
7 Para que justificados por su gracia, seamos hechos herederos según la esperanza de la vida eterna. (aiōnios g166)
That we, being iustified by his grace, should be made heires according to the hope of eternall life. (aiōnios g166)
8 Palabra fiel, y estas cosas quiero que afirmes constantemente: que los que creen a Dios, procuren sobresalir en buenas obras. Esto es lo bueno y lo útil para los hombres.
This is a true saying, and these thinges I will thou shouldest affirme, that they which haue beleeued God, might be carefull to shewe foorth good woorkes. These things are good and profitable vnto men.
9 Mas evita las cuestiones insensatas, y las genealogías, y las contenciones, y disputas sobre la ley; porque son sin provecho y vanas.
But stay foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and brawlings about the Lawe: for they are vnprofitable and vaine.
10 Al hombre hereje, después de una y otra amonestación, deséchale:
Reiect him that is an heretike, after once or twise admonition,
11 Estando cierto que el tal es trastornado, y peca, siendo condenado de su propio juicio.
Knowing that hee that is such, is peruerted, and sinneth, being damned of his owne selfe.
12 Cuando enviare a ti a Artemas, o a Tíquico, dáte priesa en venir a mí a Nicópolis; porque allí he determinado de invernar.
When I shall send Artemas vnto thee, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to mee vnto Nicopolis: for I haue determined there to winter.
13 A Zénas doctor de la ley, y a Apolo envía delante, procurando que nada les falte.
Bring Zenas the expounder of the Lawe, and Apollos on their iourney diligently, that they lacke nothing.
14 Aprendan asimismo los nuestros a sobresalir en buenas obras para los usos necesarios, porque no sean inútiles.
And let ours also learne to shewe foorth good woorkes for necessary vses, that they be not vnfruitfull.
15 Todos los que están conmigo te saludan. Saluda a los que nos aman en la fe. La gracia sea con todos vosotros. Amén. A Tito, el cual fue el primer obispo ordenado para la iglesia de los Cretenses, escrita de Nicópolis de Macedonia.
All that are with mee, salute thee. Greete them that loue vs in the faith. Grace bee with you all, Amen. ‘To Titus, elect the first bishoppe of the Church of the Cretians, written from Nicopolis in Macedonia.’
