Romanos 9
1 Verdad digo en Cristo, no miento, dándome testimonio mi conciencia en el Espíritu Santo:
I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, (pneuma)
2 Que tengo gran tristeza, y continuo dolor en mi corazón.
That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.
3 Porque deseara yo mismo ser anatema de Cristo por causa de mis hermanos, los que son mis parientes según la carne:
For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
4 Que son Israelitas, de los cuales es la adopción, y la gloria, y los conciertos, y la ley dada, y el culto, y las promesas;
Who are Israelites; to whom pertains the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
5 Cuyos son los padres, y de los cuales vino Cristo según la carne, el cual es Dios sobre todas las cosas, bendito por los siglos. Amén. (aiōn g165)
Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
6 No empero que la palabra de Dios haya faltado; porque no todos los que son de Israel son Israelitas:
Not as though the word (logos) of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
7 Ni por ser simiente de Abraham luego son todos hijos; mas: En Isaac te será llamada simiente.
Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall your seed be called.
8 Quiere decir: No los que son hijos de la carne, estos son los hijos de Dios; mas los que son hijos de la promesa, estos son contados en la generación.
That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9 Porque la palabra de la promesa es esta: Como en este tiempo vendré; y tendrá Sara un hijo.
For this is the word (logos) of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son.
10 Y no solo esta, mas también Rebeca concibiendo de una vez, a saber, de Isaac nuestro padre;
And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
11 (Porque no siendo aun nacidos, ni habiendo hecho aun ni bien ni mal, para que permaneciese el propósito de Dios conforme a la elección, no por las obras, sino por el que llama; )
(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calls; )
12 Le fue dicho, que el mayor serviría al menor:
It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
13 Como está escrito: A Jacob amé, mas a Esaú aborrecí.
As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
14 ¿Qué diremos pues? ¿ Qué hay injusticia acerca de Dios? En ninguna manera.
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
15 Porque a Moisés dice: Tendré misericordia del que tendré misericordia; y me compadeceré del que me compadeceré.
For he says to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
16 Así que no es del que quiere, ni del que corre; sino de Dios, que tiene misericordia.
So then it is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy.
17 Porque la Escritura dice de Faraón: Para esto mismo te he levantado, para mostrar en ti mi poder, y que mi nombre sea anunciado por toda la tierra.
For the scripture says unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth.
18 De manera que del que quiere tiene misericordia; y al que quiere, endurece.
Therefore has he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardens.
19 Me dirás pues: ¿Por qué pues se enoja? ¿porque quién ha resistido a su voluntad?
You will say then unto me, Why does he yet find fault? For who has resisted his will?
20 Mas antes, oh hombre, ¿tú, quién eres, para que alterques con Dios? ¿o dirá el vaso de barro al que le labró: Por qué me has hecho así?
On the contrary; , O man, who are you that reply against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why have you made me thus?
21 ¿O no tiene potestad el ollero, para hacer de la misma masa un vaso para honra, y otro para vergüenza?
Has not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
22 ¿ Y qué, si Dios queriendo mostrar su ira, y hacer notorio su poder, soportó con mucha mansedumbre los vasos de ira, preparados para destrucción;
What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
23 Y haciendo notorias las riquezas de su gloria para con los vasos de misericordia, que él ha antes preparado para gloria;
And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had before prepared unto glory,
24 A los cuales también llamó, es a saber, a nosotros, no solo de los Judíos, mas también de los Gentiles?
Even us, whom he has called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?
25 Como también en Oséas dice: Llamaré al que no era mi pueblo, pueblo mío; y amada, a la que no era amada.
As he says also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her beloved, which was not beloved.
26 Y será que en el lugar donde antes les era dicho: Vosotros no sois pueblo mío; allí serán llamados hijos del Dios viviente.
And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, All of you are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.
27 Isaías también clama tocante a Israel: Aunque fuere el número de los hijos de Israel como la arena de la mar, un residuo será salvo.
Isaiah also cries concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
28 Porque él consumará la obra, y la abreviará en justicia; porque obra abreviada hará el Señor sobre la tierra.
For he will finish the work, (logos) and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work (logos) will the Lord make upon the earth.
29 Y como antes dijo Isaías: Si el Señor de los ejércitos no nos hubiera dejado simiente, como Sodoma fuéramos hechos, y como Gomorra fuéramos semejantes.
And as Isaiah said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.
30 ¿Qué diremos pues? Que los Gentiles que no seguían justicia han alcanzado la justicia: es a saber, la justicia que es por la fe;
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 E Israel que seguía la ley de justicia, no ha alcanzado a la ley de la justicia.
But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, has not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 ¿Por qué? Porque no la buscaron por fe; mas como por las obras de la ley. Por lo cual tropezaron en la piedra de tropiezo;
Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumbling stone;
33 Como está escrito: He aquí, pongo en Sión piedra de tropiezo, y roca de caída; y todo aquel que creyere en él, no será avergonzado.
As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumbling stone and rock of offence: and whosoever believes on him shall not be ashamed.
