Romanos 13

1 Toda alma sea sujeta a las potestades superiores; porque no hay potestad sino de Dios: las potestades que son, de Dios son ordenadas.

Let euery soule be subiect vnto the higher powers: for there is no power but of God: and the powers that be, are ordeined of God.

2 Así que el que se opone a la potestad, al orden de Dios resiste; y los que resisten, ellos mismos recibirán condenación para sí.

Whosoeuer therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist, shall receiue to themselues condemnation.

3 Porque los magistrados no son para temor de las buenas obras, sino de las malas. ¿Quieres pues no temer la potestad? Haz lo bueno, y tendrás alabanza de ella;

For Magistrates are not to be feared for good workes, but for euill. Wilt thou then bee without feare of the power? doe well: so shalt thou haue praise of the same.

4 Porque te es el ministro de Dios para bien. Mas si hicieres lo malo, teme; porque no sin causa trae la espada, porque es el ministro de Dios, vengador para ejecutar su ira al que hace lo malo.

For he is ye minister of God for thy wealth, but if thou do euill, feare: for he beareth not the sworde for nought: for he is the minister of God to take vengeance on him that doeth euill.

5 Por lo cual es necesario que le seáis sujetos: no solamente por motivo de la ira, mas aun por la conciencia.

Wherefore ye must bee subiect, not because of wrath only, but also for conscience sake.

6 Porque por esto les pagáis también los tributos; porque son ministros de Dios que sirven a esto mismo.

For, for this cause ye pay also tribute: for they are Gods ministers, applying themselues for the same thing.

7 Pagád pues a todos lo que debéis: al que tributo, tributo: al que impuesto, impuesto: al que temor, temor: al que honra, honra.

Giue to all men therefore their duetie: tribute, to whome yee owe tribute: custome, to whom custome: feare, to whome feare: honour, to whom ye owe honour.

8 No debáis a nadie nada, sino que os améis unos a otros; porque el que ama al prójimo, cumplió la ley.

Owe nothing to any man, but to loue one another: for he that loueth another, hath fulfilled the Lawe.

9 Porque esto: No adulterarás: no matarás: no hurtarás: no dirás falso testimonio: no codiciarás; y si hay algún otro mandamiento, en esta palabra se comprende sumariamente: Amarás a tu prójimo, como a ti mismo.

For this, Thou shalt not commit adulterie, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steale, Thou shalt not beare false witnes, Thou shalt not couet: and if there be any other commandement, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, euen in this, Thou shalt loue thy neighbour as thy selfe.

10 El amor no hace mal al prójimo, así que el amor es el cumplimiento de la ley.

Loue doeth not euill to his neighbour: therefore is loue the fulfilling of the Lawe.

11 Y esto, conociendo el tiempo, que es ya hora de levantarnos del sueño; porque ahora nos esta más cerca nuestra salvación, que cuando creíamos.

And that, considering the season, that it is now time that we should arise from sleepe: for now is our saluation neerer, then when we beleeued it.

12 La noche ya pasa, y el día va llegando: desechemos pues las obras de las tinieblas, y vistámonos las armas de luz.

The night is past, and the day is at hande, let vs therefore cast away the workes of darkenesse, and let vs put on the armour of light,

13 Andemos honestamente, como de día: no en glotonerías y borracheras, no en lechos y disoluciones, no en pendencias y envidia:

So that wee walke honestly, as in the day: not in gluttonie, and drunkennesse, neither in chambering and wantonnes, nor in strife and enuying.

14 Mas vestíos del Señor Jesu Cristo; y no penséis en la carne para cumplir sus deseos.

But put yee on the Lord JESUS CHRIST, and take no thought for the flesh, to fulfill the lustes of it.
