Apocalipsis 18
1 Y después de estas cosas ví otro ángel descender del cielo, teniendo grande poder; y la tierra fue alumbrada de su gloria.
And after these things, I saw another Angel, descending from heaven, having great authority. And the earth was illuminated by his glory.
2 Y clamó con fortaleza en alta voz, diciendo: Caída es, caída es Babilonia la grande, y es hecha habitación de demonios, y guarda de todo espíritu inmundo, y guarda de todas aves sucias, y aborrecibles;
And he cried out with strength, saying: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great. And she has become the habitation of demons, and the keepsake of every unclean spirit, and the possession of every unclean and hateful flying thing.
3 Porque todas las naciones han bebido del vino de la ira de su fornicación, y los reyes de la tierra han fornicado con ella, y los mercaderes de la tierra se han enriquecido de la potencia de sus deleites.
For all the nations have imbibed the wine of the wrath of her fornication. And the kings of the earth have fornicated with her. And the merchants of the earth have become wealthy by the power of her pleasures.”
4 Y oí otra voz del cielo, que decía: Salíd de ella, pueblo mío, porque no seáis participantes de sus pecados, y que no recibáis de sus plagas.
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying: “Go away from her, my people, so that you may not be participants in her pleasures, and so that you may not be recipients of her afflictions.
5 Porque sus pecados han crecido y llegado hasta el cielo, y Dios se ha acordado de sus maldades.
For her sins have pierced through even to heaven, and the Lord has remembered her iniquities.
6 Tornádle a dar así como ella os ha dado, y pagádle al doble según sus obras: en el cáliz que ella os dio a beber, dádle a beber doblado.
Render to her, as she has also rendered to you. And repay her doubly, according to her works. Mix for her a double portion, in the cup with which she mixed.
7 Cuanto ella se ha glorificado, y ha vivido en deleites, tanto le dad de tormento y de pesar; porque dice en su corazón: Yo estoy sentada reina, y no soy viuda, y no veré duelo.
As much as she has glorified herself and lived in pleasure, so much so give to her torment and grief. For in her heart, she has said: ‘I am enthroned as queen,’ and, ‘I am not a widow,’ and, ‘I shall not see sorrow.’
8 Por lo cual en un día vendrán sus plagas, muerte, y llanto, y hambre, y será quemada con fuego; porque fuerte es el Señor Dios que la juzga.
For this reason, her afflictions shall arrive in one day: death and grief and famine. And she shall be burned with fire. For God, who will judge her, is strong.
9 Y llorarla han, y plañirse han sobre ella los reyes de la tierra, los cuales han fornicado con ella, y han vivido en deleites, cuando ellos vieren el humo de su encendimiento,
And the kings of the earth, who have fornicated with her and lived in luxury, shall weep and mourn for themselves over her, when they see the smoke of her conflagration,
10 Estando lejos por el temor de su tormento, diciendo: ¡Ay, ay, de aquella gran ciudad de Babilonia, aquella fuerte ciudad; porque en una hora vino tu juicio!
standing far away, out of fear of her torments, saying: ‘Woe! Woe! to Babylon, that great city, that strong city. For in one hour, your judgment has arrived.’
11 Y los mercaderes de la tierra llorarán y se lamentarán sobre ella; porque ninguno compra más sus mercaderías,
And the businessmen of the earth shall weep and mourn over her, because no one will buy their merchandise anymore:
12 La mercadería de oro, y de plata, y de piedras preciosas, y de margaritas, y de tela de lino fino, y de púrpura, y de seda, y de grana, y de toda madera de tuya, y de todo vaso de marfil, y de todo vaso de maderas las mas preciosas, y de bronce, y de hierro, y de mármol;
merchandise of gold and silver and precious stones and pearls, and of fine linen and purple and silk and scarlet, and of every citrus tree wood, and of every tool of ivory, and of every tool from precious stone and brass and iron and marble,
13 Y canela, y olores, y ungüentos, e incienso, y vino, y aceite, y flor de harina, y trigo, y bestias, y de ovejas, y de caballos, y de carros, y de siervos, y de almas de hombres.
and of cinnamon and black cardamom, and of fragrances and ointments and incense, and of wine and oil and fine flour and wheat, and of beasts of burden and sheep and horses and four-wheeled wagons, and of slaves and the souls of men.
14 Y las frutas del deseo de tu alma se apartaron de ti, y todas las cosas gruesas, y excelentes te han faltado; y de aquí adelante ya no hallarás más estas cosas.
And the fruits of the desires of your soul have gone away from you. And all things fat and splendid have perished from you. And they shall never find these things again.
15 Los mercaderes de estas cosas que se han enriquecido por ella, se pondrán a lo lejos, por el temor de su tormento, llorando, y lamentando,
The merchants of these things, who were made wealthy, shall stand far away from her, out of fear of her torments, weeping and mourning,
16 Y diciendo: ¡Ay, ay de aquella gran ciudad, que estaba vestida de lino fino, y de púrpura, y de grana, y estaba dorada con oro, y adornada de piedras preciosas y de perlas!
and saying: ‘Woe! Woe! to that great city, which was clothed with fine linen and purple and scarlet, and which was adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls.’
17 Porque en una hora han sido desoladas tantas riquezas. Y todo gobernador, y toda compañía que conversa en las naos, y marineros, y todos los que trabajan en la mar, se estuvieron de lejos;
For such great wealth was brought to destitution in one hour. And every shipmaster, and all who navigate on lakes, and mariners, and those who work at sea, stood far away.
18 Y viendo el humo de su encendimiento, dieron voces, diciendo: ¿Cuál ciudad era semejante a esta grande ciudad?
And they cried out, seeing the place of her conflagration, saying: ‘What city resembles this great city?’
19 Y echaron polvo sobre sus cabezas, y dieron voces, llorando, y lamentando, diciendo: ¡Ay, ay de aquella gran ciudad, en la cual todos los que tenían naos en la mar, se habían enriquecido por razón de su costosa magnificencia! porque en una sola hora ha sido asolada.
And they cast dust upon their heads. And they cried out, weeping and mourning, saying: ‘Woe! Woe! to that great city, by which all who had ships at sea were made rich from her treasures. For she has been made desolate in one hour.
20 Regocíjate sobre ella, cielo, y vosotros santos apóstoles, y profetas; porque Dios os ha vengado en ella.
Exult over her, O heaven, O holy Apostles and Prophets. For God has judged your judgment upon her.’”
21 Y un fuerte ángel tomó una piedra como una grande muela de molino, y echóla en la mar, diciendo: Con tanto ímpetu será echada Babilonia, aquella gran ciudad; y no será jamás hallada.
And a certain strong Angel took up a stone, similar to a great millstone, and he cast it into the sea, saying: “With this force shall Babylon, that great city, be cast down. And she shall never be found again.
22 Y voz de tañedores de arpas, y de músicos, y tañedores de flautas, y de trompeteros, no será más oída en ti; y todo artífice de cualquier oficio que fuere, no será más hallado en ti; y voz de muela no será más oída en ti;
And the sound of singers, and musicians, and flute and trumpet players shall not be heard in you again. And every artisan of every art shall not be found in you again. And the sound of the mill shall not be heard in you again.
23 Y luz de candela no alumbrará más en ti; y voz de esposo, y de esposa no será más oída en ti; porque tus mercaderes eran los magnates de la tierra; porque por tus hechicerías todas las naciones fueron engañadas.
And the light of the lamp shall not shine in you again. And the voice of the groom and of the bride shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the leaders of the earth. For all the nations were led astray by your drugs.
24 Y en ella se halló la sangre de profetas, y de santos, y de todos los que han sido matados en la tierra.
And in her was found the blood of the Prophets and of the Saints, and of all who were slain upon the earth.”
