Números 12

1 Y habló María y Aarón contra Moisés por causa de la mujer Etiopisa que había tomado; porque él había tomado mujer Etiopisa.

Miriam and Aaron were critical of Moses because of his Ethiopian wife—he'd married an Ethiopian woman.

2 Y dijeron: ¿Solamente por Moisés ha hablado Jehová? ¿No ha hablado también por nosotros? Y oyó Jehová.

“Is it only through Moses that the Lord speaks?” they asked. “Doesn't he speak through us too?” The Lord heard all this.

3 Y aquel varón Moisés era muy manso, más que todos los hombres, que eran sobre la tierra.

Moses was a very humble man, more than anyone else on earth.

4 Y luego dijo Jehová a Moisés y a Aarón, y a María: Salíd vosotros tres al tabernáculo del testimonio. Y salieron ellos tres.

All of a sudden the Lord called for Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, telling them, “The three of you, come to the Tent of Meeting.” The three of them did so.

5 Entonces Jehová descendió en la columna de la nube, y púsose a la puerta del tabernáculo, y llamó a Aarón y a María, y salieron ellos ambos.

The Lord came down in a pillar of cloud and stood in the entrance to the Tent. He called Aaron and Miriam and they came forward.

6 Y él les dijo: Oíd ahora mis palabras: Si tuviereis profeta de Jehová, yo le apareceré en visión, en sueños hablaré con él.

“Now listen to my words, he told them. If you had prophets, I the Lord would reveal myself to them in visions; I would communicate with them in dreams.

7 Mi siervo Moisés no es así: en toda mi casa es fiel.

But it's not like this with my servant Moses, who of all my people is the one who is faithful.

8 Boca a boca hablaré con él, y de vista: y no por figuras o semejanza verá a Jehová: ¿por qué pues no hubisteis temor de hablar contra mi siervo Moisés?

I talk to him personally, face to face. I speak plainly, not in riddles. He sees the likeness of the Lord. So why weren't you afraid when you criticized my servant Moses?”

9 Entonces el furor de Jehová se encendió en ellos y se fue;

The Lord was angry with them, and he left.

10 Y la nube se apartó del tabernáculo: y he aquí que María era leprosa como la nieve: Y miró Aarón a María, y he aquí que estaba leprosa.

As the cloud rose above the Tent, Miriam's skin suddenly turned white with leprosy. Aaron turned to look and saw that she had leprosy.

11 Y dijo Aarón a Moisés: Ay señor mío, no pongas ahora sobre nosotros pecado; porque locamente lo hemos hecho, y hemos pecado.

He said to Moses, “My lord, please don't punish us for this sin that we've so stupidly committed.

12 No sea ella ahora como el que sale muerto del vientre de su madre consumida la mitad de su carne.

Please don't let her become like a stillborn baby whose flesh is already decaying when they're born!”

13 Entonces Moisés clamó a Jehová, diciendo: Ruégote, oh Dios, que la sanes ahora.

Moses called out to the Lord, “God, please heal her!”

14 Jehová respondió a Moisés: ¿Pues si su padre escupiendo hubiera escupido en su cara, no se avergonzaría por siete días? sea echada fuera del real por siete días; y después se juntará.

But the Lord replied to Moses, “If her father had spit in her face wouldn't she have been disgraced for seven days? Keep her in isolation outside the camp for seven days, and then she can be taken back in.”

15 Así María fue echada del real siete días, y el pueblo no pasó a delante hasta que María se juntó.

Miriam was kept in isolation outside the camp for seven days, and the people did not move on until she was taken back in.

16 Y después movió el pueblo de Jaserot, y asentaron el campo en el desierto de Farán.

Then the people left Hazeroth and set up camp in the Desert of Paran.
