San Mateo 9
1 Entonces entrando en una nave, pasó a la otra parte, y vino a su ciudad.
So Jesus took a boat back across the lake to the town where he lived.
2 Y, he aquí, le trajeron un paralítico echado en una cama; y viendo Jesús la fe de ellos, dijo al paralítico: Confía, hijo; tus pecados te son perdonados.
There they brought to him a paralyzed man lying on a mat. When Jesus saw how they trusted him, he told the paralyzed man, “My friend, cheer up! Your sins are forgiven.”
3 Y, he aquí, algunos de los escribas decían dentro de sí: Este blasfema.
In response some of the religious teachers said to themselves, “He's speaking blasphemy!”
4 Y viendo Jesús sus pensamientos, dijo: ¿Por qué pensáis mal en vuestros corazones?
But Jesus knew what they were thinking. He asked them, “Why are you thinking evil thoughts in your minds?
5 ¿Cuál es más fácil, decir: Los pecados te son perdonados; o decir: Levántate, y anda?
What is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Get up and walk’?
6 Pues para que sepáis que el Hijo del hombre tiene potestad en la tierra de perdonar pecados, (dice entonces al paralítico: ) Levántate, toma tu cama, y vete a tu casa.
But to convince you that the Son of man does have the authority to forgive sins…” he said to the paralyzed man, “Get up, pick up your mat, and go home!”
7 Entonces él se levantó, y se fue a su casa.
The man got up and went home.
8 Y las gentes viéndo lo, se maravillaron, y glorificaron a Dios, que hubiese dado tal potestad a hombres.
When the crowds saw what had happened, they were scared. Then they praised God that he had given human beings such power.
9 Y pasando Jesús de allí, vio a un hombre, que estaba sentado al banco de los tributos, el cual se llamaba Mateo, y dícele: Sígueme. Y se levantó, y le siguió.
As Jesus moved on from there he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth. Jesus called to him, “Follow me!” He got up, and followed Jesus.
10 Y aconteció que estando él sentado a comer en la casa, he aquí, que muchos publicanos y pecadores, que habían venido, se sentaron juntamente a la mesa con Jesús y sus discípulos.
While Jesus was eating at Matthew's home, many tax-collectors and sinners came and sat down at the table with Jesus and his disciples.
11 Y viendo esto los Fariseos, dijeron a sus discípulos: ¿Por qué come vuestro Maestro con los publicanos y pecadores?
When the Pharisees saw this they asked Jesus' disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax-collectors and sinners?”
12 Y oyéndo lo Jesús, les dijo: Los que están sanos, no tienen necesidad de médico; sino los enfermos.
When Jesus heard the question, he replied, “Those who are well don't need a doctor, but sick people do.
13 Andád, antes aprendéd que cosa es: Misericordia quiero, y no sacrificio: Porque no he venido a llamar los justos, sino los pecadores a arrepentimiento.
Go and discover what this means: ‘I want mercy, not sacrifice. For I didn't come to call those who do what's right—I came to call sinners.’”
14 Entonces los discípulos de Juan vienen a él, diciendo: ¿Por qué nosotros y los Fariseos ayunamos muchas veces, y tus discípulos no ayunan?
Then the disciples of John came and asked, “Why is that we and the Pharisees fast frequently, but your disciples don't?”
15 Y les dijo Jesús: ¿Pueden los que están de bodas tener luto entre tanto que el esposo está con ellos? Mas vendrán días, cuando el esposo será quitado de ellos, y entonces ayunarán.
“Do wedding guests mourn while the bridegroom is with them?” Jesus responded. “But the time is coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and then they will fast.
16 Nadie echa remiendo de paño nuevo en vestido viejo; porque el tal remiendo tira del vestido, y se hace peor rotura.
No one puts a new patch on old clothes, otherwise it will shrink and make the tear worse.
17 Ni echan vino nuevo en cueros viejos; de otra manera los cueros se rompen, y el vino se derrama, y se pierden los cueros; mas echan el vino nuevo en cueros nuevos; y lo uno y lo otro se conserva juntamente.
No one puts new wine in old wineskins either, otherwise the wineskins will burst, spilling the wine and ruining the wineskins. No, new wine is put into new wineskins, and both last.”
18 Hablando él estas cosas a ellos, he aquí, cierto principal vino, y le adoró, diciendo: Mi hija es muerta poco ha; mas ven, y pon tu mano sobre ella, y vivirá.
While he was telling them this, one of the leading officials came and bowed before him. “My daughter has just died,” the man told Jesus. “But if you come and place your hand on her, I know she will come back to life.”
19 Y se levantó Jesús, y le siguió, y sus discípulos.
Jesus and his disciples got up and followed him.
20 Y, he aquí, una mujer enferma de flujo de sangre doce años había, llegándose por detrás, tocó la fimbria de su vestido;
At that moment a woman who had been sick with bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the hem of his cloak.
21 Porque decía entre sí: Si tocare solamente su vestido, seré sana.
She had told herself, “If I can just touch his cloak, I'll be healed.”
22 Mas Jesús volviéndose, y mirándola, dijo: Confía, hija, tu fe te ha sanado. Y la mujer fue sana desde aquella hora.
Jesus turned and saw her. “Be happy, for your trust in me has healed you,” he told her. The woman was immediately healed.
23 Y venido Jesús a casa del principal, viendo los tañedores de flautas, y el gentío que hacía bullicio,
Jesus arrived at the official's house. He saw the flute-players and the crowd that was weeping loudly.
24 Díceles: Apartáos, que la joven no es muerta; sino que duerme. Y se burlaban de él.
“Please leave,” he told them, “For the girl isn't dead, she's just asleep.” But they laughed and made fun of him.
25 Y como la gente fue echada fuera, entró, y la tomó de la mano; y la joven se levantó.
But once the crowd had been sent out, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up.
26 Y salió esta fama por toda aquella tierra.
News of what happened spread throughout that region.
27 Y pasando Jesús de allí, le siguieron dos ciegos dando voces, y diciendo: Ten misericordia de nosotros, Hijo de David.
As Jesus continued on from there, two blind men followed him, shouting, “Son of David, please have mercy on us!”
28 Y venido a casa, vinieron a él los ciegos; y Jesús les dice: ¿Creeis que puedo hacer esto? Ellos dicen: Sí, Señor.
When Jesus arrived at the house where he was staying, the blind men came in too. “Are you convinced that I'm able to do this?” he asked them. “Yes, Lord,” they replied.
29 Entonces tocó los ojos de ellos, diciendo: Conforme a vuestra fe os sea hecho.
Then Jesus touched their eyes, and said, “Because of your trust in me it will happen!”
30 Y los ojos de ellos fueron abiertos; y Jesús les encargó rigurosamente, diciendo: Mirád, que nadie lo sepa.
And they could see. Then Jesus warned them, “Make sure nobody knows about this.”
31 Mas ellos salidos, divulgaron su fama por toda aquella tierra.
But they went and spread the word about Jesus everywhere.
32 Y saliendo ellos, he aquí, le trajeron un hombre mudo, endemoniado.
As Jesus and his disciples were leaving, a man was brought to him who was dumb and demon-possessed.
33 Y echado fuera el demonio, el mudo habló. Y las gentes se maravillaron, diciendo: Nunca ha sido vista cosa semejante en Israel.
Once the demon had been thrown out of him, the dumb man spoke, and the crowds were amazed. “Nothing ever happened like this before in Israel,” they said.
34 Mas los Fariseos decían: Por el príncipe de los demonios echa fuera los demonios.
But the Pharisees remarked, “He throws out demons using the power of the chief of demons.”
35 Y rodeaba Jesús por todas las ciudades y aldeas, enseñando en las sinagogas de ellos, y predicando el evangelio del reino, y sanando toda enfermedad, y toda dolencia en el pueblo.
Jesus went all over, visiting the towns and villages. He taught in their synagogues, telling them about the good news of the kingdom, and he healed all kinds of sicknesses and diseases.
36 Y viendo las multitudes, tuvo misericordia de ellas; que eran derramadas y esparcidas, como ovejas que no tienen pastor.
When he saw the crowds, Jesus was deeply moved with compassion for them, because they were troubled and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.
37 Entonces dice a sus discípulos: A la verdad la mies es mucha; mas los obreros, pocos.
He told his disciples, “The harvest is large, but there are only a few workers.
38 Rogád pues al Señor de la mies, que envíe obreros a su mies.
Pray to the Lord of the harvest, and ask him to send more workers for his harvest.”
