San Mateo 3
1 Y en aquellos días vino Juan el Bautista, predicando en el desierto de Judea,
And in those days Yukhanan the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Yehuda
2 Y diciendo: Arrepentíos; que el reino de los cielos se acerca.
and saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near."
3 Porque éste es aquel del cual fue dicho por el profeta Isaías, que dijo: Voz del que clama en el desierto: Aparejád el camino del Señor: enderezád sus veredas.
For this is he who was spoken of by Eshayah the prophet, saying, "The voice of one who calls out in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way of the Lord. Make his roads straight.'"
4 Y tenía Juan su vestido de pelos de camellos, y una cinta de cuero al rededor de sus lomos; y su comida era langostas, y miel montés.
Now Yukhanan himself wore clothing made of camel's hair and with a leather belt around his waist, and his food was locusts and wild honey.
5 Entonces salía a él Jerusalem, y toda Judea, y toda la provincia de al derredor del Jordán,
Then people from Urishlim, all of Yehuda, and all the region around the Yurdinan went out to him,
6 Y eran bautizados por él en el Jordán, confesando sus pecados.
and they were baptized by him in the Yurdinan river, confessing their sins.
7 Y viendo él muchos de los Fariseos y de los Saduceos, que venían a su bautismo, les decía: Generación de víboras, ¿quién os ha enseñado a huir de la ira que vendrá?
But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for his baptism he said to them, "You offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Hacéd pues frutos dignos de arrepentimiento.
Therefore bring forth fruit worthy of repentance,
9 Y no penséis en deciros: A Abraham tenemos por padre; porque yo os digo, que puede Dios despertar hijos a Abraham aun de estas piedras.
and do not think to yourselves, 'We have Avraham for our father,' for I tell you that God is able to raise up children to Avraham from these stones.
10 Ahora, ya también la hacha está puesta a la raíz de los árboles; y todo árbol que no hace buen fruto, es cortado, y echado en el fuego.
"Even now the axe lies at the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that does not bring forth good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.
11 Yo a la verdad os bautizo en agua para arrepentimiento; mas el que viene en pos de mí, más poderoso es que yo; los zapatos del cual yo no soy digno de llevar; él os bautizará con Espíritu Santo y fuego.
I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but the one who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Rukha d'Qudsha and with fire.
12 Su aventador está en su mano, y aventará su era, y allegará su trigo en el alfolí, y quemará la paja en fuego que nunca se apagará.
His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."
13 Entonces Jesús vino de Galilea a Juan al Jordán, para ser bautizado por él.
Then Yeshua came from Galila to the Yurdinan to Yukhanan, to be baptized by him.
14 Mas Juan le resistía mucho, diciendo: Yo he menester de ser bautizado por ti, ¿y tú vienes a mí?
But Yukhanan would have hindered him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and you come to me?"
15 Empero respondiendo Jesús le dijo: Deja ahora; porque así nos conviene cumplir toda justicia. Entonces le dejó.
But Yeshua, answering, said to him, "Allow it to happen now, for this is the proper way for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed him.
16 Y Jesús después que fue bautizado, subió luego del agua, y, he aquí, los cielos le fueron abiertos, y vio al Espíritu de Dios que descendía como paloma, y venía sobre él;
And Yeshua, when he was baptized, went up directly from the water; and look, the heavens were opened and he saw the Rukha of God descending as a dove, and coming on him.
17 Y, he aquí, una voz de los cielos que decía: Este es mi hijo amado, en el cual tengo contentamiento.
And look, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
