Lamentaciones 5

1 Acuérdate, o! Jehová, de lo que nos ha venido: vé, y mira nuestra vergüenza.

Remember, O LORD, what is come upon us; behold, and see our reproach.

2 Nuestra heredad se ha vuelto a extraños, nuestras casas a forasteros.

Our inheritance is turned unto strangers, our houses unto aliens.

3 Huérfanos somos sin padre: nuestras madres como viudas.

We are become orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows.

4 Nuestra agua bebemos por dinero, nuestra leña compramos por precio.

We have drunk our water for money; our wood cometh to us for price.

5 Sobre nuestra cerviz padecemos persecución; cansámosnos, y no hay para nosotros descanso.

To our very necks we are pursued; we labour, and have no rest.

6 A Egipto dimos la mano, y al Asirio, para hartarnos de pan.

We have given the hand to Egypt, and to Assyria, to have bread enough;

7 Nuestros padres pecaron, y son muertos; y nosotros llevamos sus castigos.

Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities.

8 Siervos se enseñorearon de nosotros: no hubo quien nos librase de su mano.

Servants rule over us; there is none to deliver us out of their hand.

9 Con el peligro de nuestras vidas traíamos nuestro pan delante de la espada del desierto.

We get our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness.

10 Nuestros cueros se ennegrecieron como un horno a causa del ardor de la hambre.

Our skin is hot like an oven because of the burning heat of famine.

11 Afligieron a las mujeres en Sión, a las vírgenes en las ciudades de Judá.

They have ravished the women in Zion, the maidens in the cities of Judah.

12 A los príncipes colgaron con su mano: no reverenciaron los rostros de los viejos.

Princes are hanged up by their hand; the faces of elders are not honoured.

13 Llevaron los mozos a moler, y los muchachos desfallecieron en la leña.

The young men have borne the mill, and the children have stumbled under the wood.

14 Los ancianos cesaron de la puerta, los mancebos de sus canciones.

The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music.

15 Cesó el gozo de nuestro corazón, nuestro corro se tornó en luto.

The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning.

16 Cayó la corona de nuestra cabeza: ¡ay ahora de nosotros! porque pecamos.

The crown is fallen from our head; woe unto us! for we have sinned.

17 Por esto fue entristecido nuestro corazón, por esto se entenebrecieron nuestros ojos.

For this our heart is faint, for these things our eyes are dim;

18 Por el monte de Sión que es asolado, zorras andan en él.

For the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.

19 Mas tú, Jehová, para siempre permanecerás: tu trono de generación en generación.

Thou, O LORD, art enthroned for ever, Thy throne is from generation to generation.

20 ¿Por qué te olvidarás para siempre de nosotros? ¿dejarnos has por luengos días?

Wherefore dost Thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time?

21 Vuélvenos, o! Jehová, a ti, y volvernos hemos: renueva nuestros días como al principio.

Turn Thou us unto Thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old.

22 Porque desechando nos has desechado: háste airado contra nosotros en gran manera.

Thou canst not have utterly rejected us, and be exceeding wroth against us!
