Josué 24

1 Y juntando Josué todas las tribus de Israel en Siquem, llamó a los ancianos de Israel, y a sus príncipes, a sus jueces, y sus alcaldes, y presentáronse delante de Dios:

And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

2 Y dijo Josué a todo el pueblo: Así dice Jehová, Dios de Israel: Vuestros padres habitaron antiguamente de esotra parte del río, es a saber, Tare padre de Abraham y de Nacor; y servían a dioses extraños.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt of old time beyond the River, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor: and they served other gods.

3 Y yo tomé a vuestro padre Abraham de la otra parte del río, y trájele por toda la tierra de Canaán, y aumenté su generación, y díle a Isaac.

And I took your father Abraham from beyond the River, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.

4 Y a Isaac di a Jacob, y a Esaú: y a Esaú di el monte de Seir, que lo poseyese; mas Jacob y sus hijos descendieron en Egipto.

And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; and Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.

5 Y yo envié a Moisés, y a Aarón, y herí a Egipto, como lo hice en medio de él, y después os saqué.

And I sent Moses and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did in the midst thereof: and afterward I brought you out.

6 Y saqué a vuestros padres de Egipto: y como llegaron a la mar, los Egipcios siguieron a vuestros padres hasta el mar Bermejo con carros y caballería:

And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and with horsemen unto the Red Sea.

7 Y como ellos clamasen a Jehová, él puso una oscuridad entre vosotros y los Egipcios: e hizo venir sobre ellos la mar, la cual los cubrió. Y vuestros ojos vieron lo que hice en Egipto: y estuvisteis muchos días en el desierto.

And when they cried out unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes saw what I did in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness many days.

8 Y os metí en la tierra de los Amorreos que habitaban de la otra parte del Jordán: los cuales pelearon contra vosotros, mas yo los entregué en vuestra mano: y poseisteis su tierra, y yo los destruí de delante de vosotros.

And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt beyond Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, and ye possessed their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

9 Levantóse después Balac hijo de Sefor rey de los Moabitas, y peleó contra Israel: y envió a llamar a Balaam hijo de Beor, para que os maldijese.

Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and fought against Israel; and he sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:

10 Mas yo no quise escuchar a Balaam, antes os bendijo de bendición, y yo os libré de sus manos.

but I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

11 Y pasado el Jordán vinisteis a Jericó, y los señores de Jericó pelearon contra vosotros: los Amorreos, Ferezeos, Cananeos, Jetteos, Gergeseos, Heveos, y Jebuseos, y yo los entregué en vuestras manos.

And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite; and I delivered them into your hand.

12 Y envié tábanos delante de vosotros que los echaron de delante de vosotros, es a saber, a los dos reyes de los Amorreos: no con tu espada, ni con tu arco.

And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.

13 Y os di la tierra en la cual nada trabajasteis; y las ciudades, que no edificasteis, en las cuales moráis: y las viñas y olivares, que no plantasteis, de las cuales coméis.

And I gave you a land whereon thou hadst not laboured, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell therein; of vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.

14 Ahora pues teméd a Jehová y servídle con perfección y con verdad: y quitád los dioses a los cuales sirvieron vuestros padres de esotra parte del río, y en Egipto; y servíd a Jehová.

Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.

15 Y si mal os parece servir a Jehová, escogéos hoy a quien sirváis: o a los dioses, a quien sirvieron vuestros padres: cuando estuvieron de esotra parte del río, o a los dioses de los Amorreos, en cuya tierra habitáis: que yo y mi casa serviremos a Jehová.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

16 Entonces el pueblo respondió, y dijo: Nunca tal nos acontezca, que dejemos a Jehová por servir a otros dioses:

And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

17 Porque Jehová nuestro Dios, es el que nos sacó a nosotros, y a nuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto, de la casa de servidumbre: el cual delante de nuestros ojos ha hecho estas grandes señales, y nos ha guardado por todo camino por donde hemos andado, y en todos los pueblos entre los cuales hemos pasado.

for the LORD our God, he it is that brought us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and that did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the peoples through the midst of whom we passed:

18 Y Jehová echó de delante de nosotros a todos los pueblos: y al Amorreo que habitaba en la tierra. Por tanto nosotros también serviremos a Jehová, porque él es nuestro Dios.

and the LORD drave out from before us all the peoples, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore we also will serve the LORD; for he is our God.

19 Entonces Josué dijo al pueblo: No podréis servir a Jehová: porque él es Dios santo, y Dios celoso: no sufrirá vuestras rebeliones, y vuestros pecados.

And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD; for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgression nor your sins.

20 Si dejareis a Jehová, y sirviereis a dioses ajenos, volverse ha y maltrataros ha, y consumiros ha después que os ha hecho bien.

If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you evil, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

21 El pueblo entonces dijo a Josué: No, antes a Jehová serviremos.

And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.

22 Y Josué respondió al pueblo: Vosotros seréis testigos contra vosotros mismos, que vosotros os habéis elegido a Jehová para que le sirváis. Y ellos respondieron: Testigos seremos.

And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

23 Quitád pues ahora los dioses ajenos que están entre vosotros: e inclinád vuestro corazón a Jehová Dios de Israel.

Now therefore put away, [said he], the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD, the God of Israel.

24 Y el pueblo respondió a Josué: A Jehová nuestro Dios serviremos; y a su voz obedeceremos.

And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and unto his voice will we hearken.

25 Entonces Josué hizo alianza con el pueblo el mismo día: y púsole ordenanzas y leyes en Siquem.

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

26 Y escribió Josué estas palabras en el libro de la ley de Dios: y tomando una grande piedra levantóla en el mismo lugar debajo de un alcornoque que estaba en el santuario de Jehová.

And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God; and he took a great stone, and set it up there under the oak that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.

27 Y dijo Josué a todo el pueblo: He aquí, esta piedra será entre nosotros por testigo, la cual ha oído todas las palabras de Jehová que él ha hablado con nosotros: y será testigo contra vosotros, porque no mintáis contra vuestro Dios.

And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness against us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness against you, lest ye deny your God.

28 Y envió Josué el pueblo, cada uno a su heredad.

So Joshua sent the people away, every man unto his inheritance.

29 Y después de estas cosas Josué hijo de Nun siervo de Jehová, murió, siendo de ciento y diez años.

And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

30 Y enterráronle en el término de su posesión en Tamnat-sera, que es en el monte de Efraím al norte del monte de Gaas.

And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-serah, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash.

31 E Israel sirvió a Jehová todo el tiempo de Josué y todo el tiempo de los ancianos que vivieron después de Josué, y que sabían todas las obras de Jehová, que había hecho con Israel.

And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, and had known all the work of the LORD, that he had wrought for Israel.

32 Y también enterraron en Siquem los huesos de José que los hijos de Israel habían traído de Egipto, en la parte del campo que Jacob compró de los hijos de Jemor padre de Siquem, por cien monedas de plata, y fueron en posesión a los hijos de José.

And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in the parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of money: and they became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

33 También murió Eleazar hijo de Aarón: al cual enterraron en el collado de Finees su hijo, que le fue dado en el monte de Efraím.

And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in the hill of Phinehas his son, which was given him in the hill country of Ephraim.
