Job 37

1 A esto también se espanta mi corazón y salta de su lugar.

“Yes, at this my heart trembles, and is moved out of its place.

2 Oíd oyendo su terrible voz, y la palabra que sale de su boca.

Hear, oh, hear the noise of his voice, the sound that goes out of his mouth.

3 Debajo de todos los cielos lo enderezará, y su luz le extenderá hasta los fines de la tierra.

He sends it out under the whole sky, and his lightning to the ends of the earth.

4 Tras de él bramará el sonido, tronará con su valiente voz, y aunque sea oída su voz, no los detiene.

After it a voice roars. He thunders with the voice of his majesty. He doesn’t hold back anything when his voice is heard.

5 Tronará Dios maravillosamente con su voz: él hace grandes cosas, y nosotros no lo entendemos.

God thunders marvellously with his voice. He does great things, which we can’t comprehend.

6 Porque a la nieve dice: Sé en la tierra; y lluvia tras lluvia, y lluvia tras lluvia en su fortaleza.

For he says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ likewise to the shower of rain, and to the showers of his mighty rain.

7 Él pone un sello en la mano de todos los hombres, para que todos los hombres conozcan su obra.

He seals up the hand of every man, that all men whom he has made may know it.

8 La bestia se entrará en su escondrijo, y habitará en sus moradas.

Then the animals take cover, and remain in their dens.

9 Del mediodía viene el torbellino, y de los vientos del norte el frío.

Out of its room comes the storm, and cold out of the north.

10 Por el soplo de Dios se da el hielo, y las anchas aguas son constreñidas.

By the breath of God, ice is given, and the width of the waters is frozen.

11 Además de esto, con la claridad fatiga las nubes, y las esparce con su luz.

Yes, he loads the thick cloud with moisture. He spreads abroad the cloud of his lightning.

12 Y ellas se revuelven al derredor por sus ingenios, para hacer sobre la haz del mundo en la tierra lo que él les mandó:

It is turned around by his guidance, that they may do whatever he commands them on the surface of the habitable world,

13 Unas veces por azote; otras, por causa de su tierra; otras, por misericordia las hará parecer.

whether it is for correction, or for his land, or for loving kindness, that he causes it to come.

14 Escucha esto Job, repósate, y considera las maravillas de Dios.

“Listen to this, Job. Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

15 ¿Supiste tú cuando Dios las ponía en concierto, y hacía levantar la luz de su nube?

Do you know how God controls them, and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine?

16 ¿Has tú conocido las diferencias de las nubes, las maravillas del perfecto de sabidurías?

Do you know the workings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?

17 ¿Y eran calientes tus vestidos cuando él daba el reposo a la tierra del mediodía?

You whose clothing is warm when the earth is still by reason of the south wind?

18 ¿Extendiste tú con él los cielos firmes, como un espejo firme?

Can you, with him, spread out the sky, which is strong as a cast metal mirror?

19 Muéstranos, que le hemos de decir, porque no ordenemos en tinieblas.

Teach us what we will tell him, for we can’t make our case by reason of darkness.

20 ¿Ha de serle contado cuando yo hablare? ¿Ha de serle dicho cuando alguno será damnificado?

Will it be told him that I would speak? Or should a man wish that he were swallowed up?

21 También alguna vez no se ve la luz clara en los cielos; y pasa un viento y límpialos.

Now men don’t see the light which is bright in the skies, but the wind passes, and clears them.

22 De la parte del norte vendrá la serenidad, por el Dios terrible de alabanza.

Out of the north comes golden splendour. With God is awesome majesty.

23 Él es Todopoderoso, al cual no alcanzamos: grande en poder, y en juicio, y en multitud de justicia; no aflige.

We can’t reach the Almighty. He is exalted in power. In justice and great righteousness, he will not oppress.

24 Por tanto los hombres le temerán, todos los sabios de corazón no le comprenderán.

Therefore men revere him. He doesn’t regard any who are wise of heart.”
