Jeremías 41

1 Y aconteció en el mes séptimo que vino Ismael, hijo de Natanías, hijo de Elisama, de la simiente real, y algunos príncipes del rey, y diez hombres con él, a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, en Maspat, y comieron allí pan juntos en Maspat.

And it comes to pass, in the seventh month, Ishmael son of Nethaniah, son of Elishama, of the royal seed, and of the chiefs of the king, and ten men with him, have come to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, to Mizpah, and there they eat bread together in Mizpah.

2 Y levantóse Ismael, hijo de Natanías, y los diez hombres que estaban con él, e hirieron a cuchillo a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, hijo de Safán, al cual había puesto el rey de Babilonia sobre la tierra, y le mató.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah rises, and the ten men who have been with him, and they strike Gedaliah son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, with the sword, and he puts him to death whom the king of Babylon has appointed over the land.

3 Asimismo, hirió Ismael a todos los Judíos que estaban con él, con Godolías, en Maspat, y a los soldados Caldeos que se hallaron allí.

And all the Jews who have been with him, with Gedaliah, in Mizpah, and the Chaldeans who have been found there—the men of war—Ishmael has struck.

4 Y fue que un día después que mató a Godolías, y no lo supo hombre,

And it comes to pass, on the second day of the putting of Gedaliah to death (and no one has known),

5 Vinieron hombres de Siquem, y de Silo, y de Samaria, ochenta hombres, raída la barba, y rotas las ropas, y arañados; y traían en sus manos presente y perfume para llevar en la casa de Jehová.

that men come in from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria—eighty men—with shaven beards, and torn garments, and cutting themselves, and [with] an offering and frankincense in their hand, to bring [them] to the house of YHWH.

6 Y salióles al encuentro de Maspat Ismael, hijo de Natanías, yendo andando y llorando; y aconteció que como los encontró, les dijo: Veníd a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam,

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah goes forth to meet them, from Mizpah, going on and weeping, and it comes to pass, at meeting them, that he says to them, “Come to Gedaliah son of Ahikam.”

7 Y fue que cuando vinieron en medio de la ciudad, Ismael, hijo de Natanías, los degolló, y los echó en medio de un algibe, él y los varones que estaban con él.

And it comes to pass, at their coming into the midst of the city, that Ishmael son of Nethaniah slaughters them, at the midst of the pit, he and the men who [are] with him.

8 Y fueron hallados diez hombres entre ellos que dijeron a Ismael: No nos mates, porque tenemos en el campo tesoros de trigos, y cebadas, y aceite, y miel; y los dejó, y no los mató entre sus hermanos.

And ten men have been found among them, and they say to Ishmael, “Do not put us to death, for we have things hidden in the field—wheat, and barley, and oil, and honey.” And he refrains, and has not put them to death in the midst of their brothers.

9 Y el algibe en que echó Ismael todos los cuerpos de los varones que hirió por causa de Godolías, era el mismo que había hecho el rey Asa por causa de Baasa, rey de Israel: este hinchió de muertos Ismael, hijo de Natanías.

And the pit to where Ishmael has cast all the carcasses of the men whom he has struck along with Gedaliah, is that which King Asa made because of Baasha king of Israel—Ishmael son of Nethaniah has filled it with the pierced.

10 Y llevó cautivo Ismael a todo el resto del pueblo que estaba en Maspat, las hijas del rey, y a todo el pueblo que había quedado en Maspat, que Nabuzardán, capitán de la guarda, había encargado a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, y llevólos cautivos Ismael, hijo de Natanías, y fuése para pasarse a los hijos de Ammón.

And Ishmael takes captive all the remnant of the people who [are] in Mizpah, the daughters of the king, and all the people who are left in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-Adan, chief of the executioners, has committed [to] Gedaliah son of Ahikam, and Ishmael son of Nethaniah takes them captive, and goes to pass over to the sons of Ammon.

11 Y oyó Johanán, hijo de Carée, y todos los príncipes de los ejércitos que estaban con él, todo el mal que hizo Ismael, hijo de Natanías.

And Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces that [are] with him, hear of all the evil that Ishmael son of Nethaniah has done,

12 Y tomaron todos los varones, y fueron para pelear con Ismael, hijo de Natanías, y halláronle junto a aguas muchas que es en Gabaón.

and they take all the men, and go to fight with Ishmael son of Nethaniah, and they find him at the great waters that [are] in Gibeon.

13 Y aconteció que como todo el pueblo que estaba con Ismael oyó a Johanán, hijo de Carée, y a todos los príncipes de los ejércitos que venían con él, se alegraron.

And it comes to pass, when all the people who [are] with Ishmael see Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces who [are] with him, that they rejoice.

14 Y todo el pueblo que Ismael había traído cautivo de Maspat, tornáronse, y volvieron, y fuéronse a Johanán, hijo de Carée.

And all the people whom Ishmael has taken captive from Mizpah turn around, indeed, they turn back, and go to Johanan son of Kareah.

15 Mas Ismael, hijo de Natanías, se escapó delante de Johanán con ocho varones, y fuése a los hijos de Ammón.

And Ishmael son of Nethaniah has escaped, with eight men, from the presence of Johanan, and he goes to the sons of Ammon.

16 Y Johanán, hijo de Carée, y todos los príncipes de los ejércitos que con él estaban, tomaron todo el resto del pueblo que habían tornado de Ismael, hijo de Natanías, de Maspat, después que hirió a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, hombres de guerra, y mujeres, y niños, y los eunucos que él había tornado de Gabaón.

And Johanan son of Kareah, and all the heads of the forces who [are] with him, take all the remnant of the people whom he has brought back from Ishmael son of Nethaniah, from Mizpah—after he had struck Gedaliah son of Ahikam—mighty ones, men of war, and women, and infants, and eunuchs, whom he had brought back from Gibeon,

17 Y fueron, y habitaron, en Gerut-quimjam, que es cerca de Belén, para partirse, y meterse en Egipto,

and they go and abide in the habitations of Chimham, that [are] near Beth-Lehem, to go to enter Egypt,

18 Por causa de los Caldeos; porque temían a causa de ellos, por haber herido Ismael, hijo de Natanías, a Godolías, hijo de Ahicam, al cual el rey de Babilonia había puesto sobre la tierra.

from the presence of the Chaldeans, for they have been afraid of them, for Ishmael son of Nethaniah had struck Gedaliah son of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon had appointed over the land.
