Génesis 40

1 Y aconteció después de estas cosas, que pecaron el maestresala del rey de Egipto, y el panadero, contra su señor, el rey de Egipto.

And it came to pass after these things, that the butler of the king of Egypt and his baker offended their lord the king of Egypt.

2 Y Faraón se enojó contra sus dos eunucos, contra el principal de los maestresalas, y contra el principal de los panaderos.

And Pharaoh was wroth against his two officers, against the chief of the butlers, and against the chief of the bakers.

3 Y púsoles en la cárcel de la casa del capitán de los de la guardia, en la casa de la cárcel, donde José estaba preso.

And he put them in ward in the house of the captain of the guard, into the prison, the place where Joseph was bound.

4 Y el capitán de los de la guardia dio cargo de ellos a José, y él les servía; y estuvieron días en la cárcel.

And the captain of the guard charged Joseph with them, and he ministered unto them: and they continued a season in ward.

5 Y soñaron sueño ambos a dos, cada uno su sueño, una misma noche; cada uno conforme a la declaración de su sueño, el maestresala y el panadero del rey de Egipto, que estaban presos en la cárcel.

And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream, in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.

6 Y vino a ellos José por la mañana, y miróles, y pareció que estaban tristes.

And Joseph came in unto them in the morning, and saw them, and, behold, they were sad.

7 Y él preguntó a aquellos eunucos de Faraón, que estaban con él en la cárcel de la casa de su señor, diciendo: ¿Por qué están hoy malos vuestros rostros?

And he asked Pharaoh’s officers that were with him in ward in his master’s house, saying, Wherefore look ye so sadly to day?

8 Y ellos le dijeron: Hemos soñado sueño, y no hay quien lo declare. Entonces José les dijo: ¿No son de Dios las declaraciones? Contádmelo ahora.

And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell it me, I pray you.

9 Entonces el príncipe de los maestresalas contó su sueño a José, y díjole: Yo soñaba que veía una vid delante de mí:

And the chief butler told his dream to Joseph, and said to him, In my dream, behold, a vine was before me;

10 Y en la vid tres sarmientos; y ella como que florecía, salía su renuevo, maduraron sus racimos de uvas:

and in the vine were three branches: and it was as though it budded, [and] its blossoms shot forth; [and] the clusters thereof brought forth ripe grapes:

11 Y que el vaso de Faraón estaba en mi mano; y que yo tomaba las uvas, y las exprimía en el vaso de Faraón, y daba el vaso en la mano de Faraón.

and Pharaoh’s cup was in my hand; and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh’s cup, and I gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand.

12 Y díjole José: Esta es su declaración: Los tres sarmientos son tres días:

And Joseph said unto him, This is the interpretation of it: the three branches are three days;

13 Al cabo de tres días Faraón levantará tu cabeza, y te hará volver en tu asiento; y darás el vaso a Faraón en su mano, como solías cuando eras su maestresala.

within yet three days shall Pharaoh lift up thine head, and restore thee unto thine office: and thou shalt give Pharaoh’s cup into his hand, after the former manner when thou wast his butler.

14 Por tanto acordarte has de mí dentro de ti, cuando tuvieres bien; y ruégote que tengas conmigo misericordia, que hagas mención de mí a Faraón, y me saques de esta casa:

But have me in thy remembrance when it shall be well with thee, and shew kindness, I pray thee, unto me, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house:

15 Porque he sido hurtado de la tierra de los Hebreos: y tampoco he hecho aquí porqué me hubiesen de poner en cárcel.

for indeed I was stolen away out of the land of the Hebrews: and here also have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.

16 Y viendo el príncipe de los panaderos que había declarado bien, dijo a José: También yo soñaba que veía tres canastillos blancos sobre mi cabeza:

When the chief baker saw that the interpretation was good, he said unto Joseph, I also was in my dream, and, behold, three baskets of white bread were on my head:

17 Y en el canastillo más alto había de todas las viandas de Faraón de obra de panadero; y que las comían las aves del canastillo de sobre mi cabeza.

and in the uppermost basket there was of all manner of bakemeats for Pharaoh; and the birds did eat them out of the basket upon my head.

18 Entonces respondió José, y dijo: Esta es su declaración: Los tres canastillos tres días son:

And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation thereof: the three baskets are three days;

19 Al cabo de tres días quitará Faraón tu cabeza de ti, y te hará colgar en la horca, y aves comerán tu carne de sobre ti.

within yet three days shall Pharaoh lift up thy head from off thee, and shall hang thee on a tree; and the birds shall eat thy flesh from off thee.

20 Y fue al tercero día el día del nacimiento de Faraón, e hizo banquete a todos sus siervos: y alzó la cabeza del príncipe de los maestresalas, y la cabeza del príncipe de los panaderos entre sus siervos:

And it came to pass the third day, which was Pharaoh’s birthday, that he made a feast unto all his servants: and he lifted up the head of the chief butler and the head of the chief baker among his servants.

21 E hizo volver al príncipe de los maestresalas a su oficio, y dio el vaso en mano de Faraón:

And he restored the chief butler unto his butlership again; and he gave the cup into Pharaoh’s hand:

22 Y al príncipe de los panaderos hizo ahorcar, como le había declarado José.

but he hanged the chief baker: as Joseph had interpreted to them.

23 Y el príncipe de los maestresalas no se acordó de José, mas olvidóse de él.

Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him.
