Génesis 29
1 Y alzó Jacob sus pies; y fue a la tierra de los hijos de oriente.
And Jacob started and went to the land of the east to Laban, the son of Bathuel the Syrian, and the brother of Rebecca, mother of Jacob and Esau.
2 Y miró, y vio un pozo en el campo: y he aquí tres rebaños de ovejas, que yacían cerca de él; porque de aquel pozo abrevaban los ganados: y había una gran piedra sobre la boca del pozo.
And he looks, and behold! a well in the plain; and there were there three flocks of sheep resting at it, for out of that well they watered the flocks, but there was a great stone at the mouth of the well.
3 Y juntábanse allí todos los rebaños, y revolvían la piedra de sobre la boca del pozo, y abrevaban las ovejas, y volvían la piedra sobre la boca del pozo a su lugar.
And there were all the flocks gathered, and they used to roll away the stone from the mouth of the well, and water the flocks, and set the stone again in its place on the mouth of the well.
4 Y díjoles Jacob: Hermanos míos, ¿de dónde sois? Y ellos respondieron: De Harán somos.
And Jacob said to them, Brethren, whence are you? and they said, We are of Charrhan.
5 Y él les dijo: ¿Conocéis a Labán, hijo de Nacor? Y ellos dijeron: Sí, le conocemos.
And he said to them, Know you Laban, the son of Nachor? and they said, We do know [him].
6 Y él les dijo: ¿Tiene paz? Y ellos dijeron: Paz: y, he aquí, Raquel su hija viene con el ganado.
And he said to them, Is he well? And they said, He is well. And behold Rachel his daughter came with the sheep.
7 Y él dijo: He aquí, aun el día es grande: no es aun tiempo de recoger el ganado, abrevad las ovejas, e id a apacentar.
And Jacob said, it is yet high day, it is not yet time that the flocks be gathered together; water you the flocks, and depart and feed them.
8 Y ellos respondieron: No podemos, hasta que se junten todos los rebaños, y revuelvan la piedra de sobre la boca del pozo, para que abrevemos las ovejas.
And they said, We shall not be able, until all the shepherds be gathered together, and they shall roll away the stone from the mouth of the well, then we will water the flocks.
9 Estando aun él hablando con ellos, Raquel vino con el ganado de su padre, porque ella era la pastora.
While he was yet speaking to them, behold, Rachel the daughter of Laban came with her father's sheep, for she fed the sheep of her father.
10 Y fue, que como Jacob vio a Raquel, hija de Labán hermano de su madre, y a las ovejas de Labán el hermano de su madre, llegó Jacob, y revolvió la piedra de sobre la boca del pozo, y abrevó el ganado de Labán hermano de su madre.
And it came to pass when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban, his mother's brother, and the sheep of Laban, his mother's brother, that Jacob came and rolled away the stone from the mouth of the well, and watered the sheep of Laban, his mother's brother.
11 Y Jacob besó a Raquel, y alzó su voz, y lloró:
And Jacob kissed Rachel, and cried with a loud voice and wept.
12 Y Jacob dijo a Raquel, como era hermano de su padre, y como era hijo de Rebeca: y ella corrió, y dio las nuevas a su padre.
And he told Rachel that he was the near relative of her father, and the son of Rebecca; and she ran and reported to her father according to these words.
13 Y fue, que como oyó Labán las nuevas de Jacob, hijo de su hermana, corrió a recibirle; y abrazóle, y besóle, y trájole a su casa: y él contó a Labán todas estas cosas.
And it came to pass when Laban heard the name of Jacob, his sister's son, he ran to meet him, and embraced and kissed him, and brought him into his house; and he told Laban all these sayings.
14 Y Labán le dijo: Ciertamente hueso mío, y carne mía eres. Y estuvo con él un mes de tiempo.
And Laban said to him, You are of my bones and of my flesh; and he was with him a full month.
15 Y dijo Labán a Jacob: ¿Por ser tú mi hermano, me has de servir de balde? Declárame qué será tu salario.
And Laban said to Jacob, Surely you shall not serve me for nothing, because you are my brother; tell me what your reward is to be.
16 Y Labán tenía dos hijas: el nombre de la mayor era Lia: y el nombre de la menor, Raquel.
Now Laban had two daughters, the name of the elder was Lea, and the name of the younger, Rachel.
17 Y los ojos de Lia eran tiernos; y Raquel era de hermoso semblante, y de hermoso parecer.
And the eyes of Lea were weak. But Rachel was beautiful in appearance, and exceedingly fair in countenance.
18 Y Jacob amó a Raquel, y dijo: Yo te serviré siete años por Raquel, tu hija menor.
And Jacob loved Rachel, and said, I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel.
19 Y Labán respondió: Mejor es que te la dé a ti, que no que la dé a otro varón: está conmigo.
And Laban said to him, [It is] better that I should give her to you, than that I should give her to another man; dwell with me.
20 Así sirvió Jacob por Raquel siete años, y pareciéronle como pocos días, porque la amaba.
And Jacob served for Rachel seven years, and they were before him as a few days, by reason of his loving her.
21 Y dijo Jacob a Labán: Dáme mi mujer, porque mi tiempo es cumplido, para que entre a ella.
And Jacob said to Laban, Give me my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in to her.
22 Entonces Labán congregó a todos los varones de aquel lugar, e hizo banquete.
And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a marriage-feast.
23 Y fue, que a la tarde tomó a Lia su hija, y trájola a él, y él entró a ella.
And it was even, and he took his daughter Lea, and brought her in to Jacob, and Jacob went in to her.
24 Y dio Labán a Zelfa su sierva a su hija Lia por sierva.
And Laban gave to his daughter Lea, Zelpha his handmaid, as a handmaid for her.
25 Y venida la mañana, he aquí que era Lia, y él dijo a Labán: ¿Qué es esto que me has hecho? ¿No te he servido por Raquel? ¿por qué pues me has engañado?
And it was morning, and behold it was Lea; and Jacob said to Laban, What is this that you have done to me? did I not serve you for Rachel? and therefore have you deceived me?
26 Y Labán respondió: No se hace así en nuestro lugar, que se dé la menor antes de la mayor.
And Laban answered, It is not done thus in our country, to give the younger before the elder.
27 Cumple la semana de esta, y dársete ha también esta por el servicio que sirvieres conmigo otros siete años.
Fulfil then her sevens, and I will give to you her also in return for your labor, which you labor with me, yet seven other years.
28 E hizo Jacob así, que cumplió la semana de aquella, y él le dio a Raquel su hija por mujer.
And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her sevens; and Laban gave him his daughter Rachel to wife.
29 Y dio Labán a Raquel su hija, a Bala su sierva por sierva.
And Laban gave to his daughter his handmaid Balla, for a handmaid to her.
30 Y entró también a Raquel, y la amó también más que a Lia: y sirvió con él aun otros siete años.
And he went in to Rachel; and he loved Rachel more than Lea; and he served him seven other years.
31 Y vio Jehová que Lia era aborrecida, y abrió su matriz; y Raquel era estéril.
And when the Lord God saw that Lea was hated, he opened her womb; but Rachel was barren.
32 Y concibió Lia, y parió un hijo, y llamó su nombre Rubén, porque dijo: Porque vio Jehová mi aflicción; por tanto ahora me amará mi marido.
And Lea conceived and bore a son to Jacob; and she called his name, Ruben; saying, Because the Lord has looked on my humiliation, and has given me a son, now then my husband will love me.
33 Y concibió otra vez, y parió un hijo, y dijo: Porque oyó Jehová, que yo era aborrecida, me ha dado también este. Y llamó su nombre Simeón.
And she conceived again, and bore a second son to Jacob; and she said, Because the Lord has heard that I am hated, he has given to me this one also; and she called his name, Simeon.
34 Y concibió otra vez, y parió un hijo, y dijo: Ahora esta vez será juntado mi marido conmigo, porque le he parido tres hijos: por tanto llamó su nombre Leví.
And she conceived yet again, and bore a son, and said, In the present time my husband will be with me, for I have born him three sons; therefore she called his name, Levi.
35 Y concibió otra vez, y parió un hijo, y dijo: Esta vez alabaré a Jehová. Por eso llamó su nombre Judá: y dejó de parir.
And having conceived yet again, she bore a son, and said, Now yet again this time will I give thanks to the Lord; therefore she called his name, Juda; and ceased bearing.
