Ezequiel 19

1 Y tú levanta esta endecha sobre los príncipes de Israel,

Moreover, take thou up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,

2 Y dirás: ¿Cómo se echó entre los leones tu madre la leona: entre los leoncillos crió sus cachorros?

and say: How was thy mother a lioness; among lions she couched, in the midst of the young lions she reared her whelps!

3 E hizo subir uno de sus cachorros: vino a ser leoncillo, y aprendió a prender presa, y a comer hombres.

And she brought up one of her whelps, he became a young lion; and he learned to catch the prey, he devoured men.

4 Y las naciones oyeron de él: fue tomado con el lazo de ellas, y trajéronle con grillos a la tierra de Egipto.

Then the nations assembled against him, he was taken in their pit; and they brought him with hooks unto the land of Egypt.

5 Y viendo que había esperado mucho tiempo, y que se perdía su esperanza, tomó otro de sus cachorros, y púsole por leoncillo.

Now when she saw that she was disappointed, and her hope was lost, then she took another of her whelps, and made him a young lion.

6 Y él andaba entre los leones, hízose leoncillo, aprendió a prender presa, comió hombres.

And he went up and down among the lions, he became a young lion; and he learned to catch the prey, he devoured men.

7 Y conoció sus viudas, y asoló sus ciudades; y la tierra, y su abundancia fue asolada de la voz de su bramido.

And he knew their castles, and laid waste their cities; and the land was desolate, and the fulness thereof, because of the noise of his roaring.

8 Y dieron sobre él las gentes de las provincias de al derredor; y extendieron sobre él su red: fue preso en su hoyo.

Then the nations cried out against him on every side from the provinces; and they spread their net over him, he was taken in their pit.

9 Y pusiéronle en cárcel con cadenas, y trajéronle al rey de Babilonia: metiéronle en fortalezas, que su voz no se oyese más sobre los montes de Israel.

And they put him in a cage with hooks, and brought him to the king of Babylon; that they might bring him into strongholds, so that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.

10 Tu madre fue como una vid en tu sangre, plantada junto a aguas, haciendo fruto, y echando ramas a causa de las muchas aguas.

Thy mother was like a vine, in thy likeness, planted by the waters; she was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.

11 Y ella tuvo varas fuertes para cetros de señores, y su estatura se levantó encima entre las ramas; y fue vista con su altura, y con la multitud de sus ramos.

And she had strong rods to be sceptres for them that bore rule; and her stature was exalted among the thick branches, and she was seen in her height with the multitude of her tendrils.

12 Y fue arrancada con ira, derribada en tierra, y viento solano secó su fruto: fueron quebradas sus ramas, y secáronse: la vara de su fuerza consumió fuego.

But she was plucked up in fury, she was cast down to the ground, and the east wind dried up her fruit; her strong rods were broken off and withered, the fire consumed her.

13 Y ahora es plantada en el desierto, en tierra de sequedad y de sequera.

And now she is planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground.

14 Y salió fuego de la vara de sus ramos que consumió su fruto, y no quedó en ella vara fuerte, cetro para enseñorear. Endecha es, y de endecha servirá.

And fire is gone out of the rod of her branches, it hath devoured her fruit, so that there is in her no strong rod to be a sceptre to rule.' This is a lamentation, and it was for a lamentation.
