Eclesiastés 8

1 ¿Quién como el sabio? ¿Y quién como el que sabe la declaración de la palabra? La sabiduría del hombre hará relucir su rostro, y la fuerza de su cara se mudará.

Who is as the wise man? and who knoweth the interpretation of a thing? the wisedome of a man doth make his face to shine: and the strength of his face shalbe changed.

2 Yo te aviso que guardes el mandamiento del rey, y la palabra del juramento de Dios.

I aduertise thee to take heede to ye mouth of the King, and to the worde of the othe of God.

3 No te apresures a irte de delante de él: ni estés en cosa mala, porque él hará todo lo que quisiere.

Haste not to goe forth of his sight: stand not in an euill thing: for he will doe whatsoeuer pleaseth him.

4 Porque la palabra del rey es su potestad; y quién le dirá: ¿Qué haces?

Where the word of ye King is, there is power, and who shall say vnto him, What doest thou?

5 El que guarda el mandamiento, no experimentará mal; y el tiempo, y el juicio, conoce el corazón del sabio.

He that keepeth the commandement, shall knowe none euill thing, and the heart of the wise shall knowe the time and iudgement.

6 Porque para todo lo que quisiereis hay tiempo, y juicio; porque el trabajo del hombre es grande sobre él.

For to euery purpose there is a time and iudgement, because the miserie of man is great vpon him.

7 Porque no sabe lo que ha de ser, y cuando haya de ser, ¿quién se lo enseñara?

For he knoweth not that which shalbe: for who can tell him when it shalbe?

8 No hay hombre que tenga potestad sobre su espíritu para detener el espíritu; ni hay potestad sobre el día de la muerte; ni hay armas en guerra; ni la impiedad escapará al que la posee.

Man is not lorde ouer the spirit to retaine the spirite: neither hath hee power in the day of death, nor deliuerance in the battell, neither shall wickednesse deliuer the possessers thereof.

9 Todo esto he visto, y he puesto mi corazón en todo lo que se hace debajo del sol, el tiempo en que el hombre se enseñorea del hombre para mal suyo.

All this haue I seene, and haue giuen mine heart to euery worke, which is wrought vnder the sunne, and I sawe a time that man ruleth ouer man to his owne hurt.

10 Entonces ví también impíos, que después de sepultados, volvieron; y los que de lugar santo caminaron, fueron puestos en olvido en la ciudad donde obraron verdad: esto también vanidad es.

And likewise I sawe the wicked buried, and they returned, and they that came from the holy place, were yet forgotten in the citie where they had done right: this also is vanitie.

11 Porque luego no se ejecuta sentencia sobre la mala obra, el corazón de los hijos de los hombres está lleno en ellos para hacer mal.

Because sentence against an euill worke is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the children of men is fully set in them to doe euill.

12 Porque el que peca, haga mal cien veces, y le sea prolongado, aun yo también sé, que los que a Dios temen, tendrán bien, los que temieren delante de su presencia;

Though a sinner doe euill an hundreth times, and God prolongeth his dayes, yet I knowe that it shalbe well with them that feare the Lord, and doe reuerence before him.

13 Y que el impío nunca tendrá bien, ni le serán prolongados los días, mas serán como sombra; porque no temió delante de la presencia de Dios.

But it shall not be well to the wicked, neither shall he prolong his dayes: he shall be like a shadowe, because he feareth not before God.

14 Hay otra vanidad que se hace sobre la tierra: que hay justos, los cuales son pagados como si hicieran obras de impíos; y hay impíos, que son pagados como si hicieran obras de justos. Digo que esto también es vanidad.

There is a vanitie, which is done vpon the earth, that there be righteous men to whom it commeth according to the worke of the wicked: and there be wicked men to whom it commeth according to the worke of the iust: I thought also that this is vanitie.

15 Por tanto yo alabé la alegría: que no tiene el hombre bien debajo del sol, sino que coma, y beba, y se alegre; y que esto se le pegue de su trabajo los días de su vida, que Dios le dio debajo del sol.

And I praysed ioy: for there is no goodnesse to man vnder the sunne, saue to eate and to drinke and to reioyce: for this is adioyned to his labour, the dayes of his life that God hath giuen him vnder the sunne.

16 Por lo cual yo di mi corazón a conocer sabiduría, y a ver la ocupación que se hace sobre la tierra: que ni de noche, ni de día, ve el hombre sueño en sus ojos.

When I applied mine heart to knowe wisedome, and to behold the busines that is done on earth, that neither day nor night the eyes of man take sleepe,

17 Y ví acerca de todas las obras de Dios, que el hombre no puede alcanzar obra que se haga debajo del sol; por la cual trabaja el hombre buscándola, y no la hallará: aunque diga el sabio que sabe, no la hallará: aunque diga el sabio que sabe, no la podrá alcanzar.

Then I behelde the whole worke of God, that man cannot finde out ye worke that is wrought vnder the sunne: for the which man laboureth to seeke it, and cannot finde it: yea, and though the wise man thinke to knowe it, he cannot finde it.
