Hechos 24

1 Y cinco días después descendió el sumo sacerdote Ananías, con los ancianos, y con un cierto orador llamado Tértulo; los cuales comparecieron delante del gobernador contra Pablo.

And after five days the chief priest Ananias came down, with the elders, and a certain orator—Tertullus, and they disclosed to the governor [the things] against Paul;

2 Y habiéndole citado, Tértulo comenzó a acusar le, diciendo: Como sea así que por causa tuya vivamos en grande paz, y habiéndose dado buenos reglamentos a esta nación por tu prudencia,

and he having been called, Tertullus began to accuse [him], saying, “Enjoying much peace through you, and worthy deeds being done to this nation through your forethought,

3 Siempre y en todo lugar lo recibimos con todo hacimiento de gracias, oh excelente Félix.

always, also, and everywhere we receive it, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness;

4 Empero por no detenerte más largamente, ruégote que nos oigas brevemente conforme a tu equidad.

and that I may not be further tedious to you, I exhort you to hear us concisely in your gentleness;

5 Porque hemos hallado que este hombre es pestilencial, y levantador de sediciones entre todos los Judíos por todo el mundo; y jefe de la sediciosa secta de los Nazarenos.

for having found this man a pestilence, and moving a dissension to all the Jews through the world—also a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes—

6 El cual también tentó a violar al templo; y prendiéndole le quisimos juzgar conforme a nuestra ley.

who also tried to profane the temple, whom we also took, [[and wished to judge according to our law,

7 Mas sobre viniendo el tribuno Lisias, con grande violencia le quitó de nuestras manos,

and Lysias the chief captain having come near, took away out of our hands with much violence,

8 Mandando a sus acusadores que viniesen a ti: del cual tú mismo examinando, podrás entender de todas estas cosas de que le acusamos.

having commanded his accusers to come to you, ]] from whom you may be able, yourself having examined, to know concerning all these things of which we accuse him”;

9 Y añadieron también los Judíos, diciendo estas cosas ser así.

and the Jews also agreed, professing these things to be so.

10 Entonces Pablo, habiéndole hecho señal el gobernador de que hablase, respondió: Porque sé que ha muchos años que eres Juez de esta nación, con mayor ánimo me defenderé.

And Paul—the governor having beckoned to him to speak—answered, “Knowing [that] for many years you have been a judge to this nation, I answer more cheerfully the things concerning myself;

11 Que tú puedes entender que no ha más de doce días que subí a adorar a Jerusalem.

you being able to know that it is not more than twelve days to me since I went up to worship in Jerusalem,

12 Y ni me hallaron en el templo disputando con alguno, ni haciendo concurso de la multitud, ni en las sinagogas, ni en la ciudad:

and neither did they find me reasoning with anyone in the temple, or making a dissension of the multitude, nor in the synagogues, nor in the city;

13 Ni te pueden probar las cosas de que ahora me acusan.

nor are they able to prove against me the things concerning which they now accuse me.

14 Esto empero te confieso, que conforme a aquel camino que llaman ellos herejía, así sirvo al Dios de mis padres, creyendo todas las cosas que en la ley, y en los profetas están escritas:

And I confess this to you, that, according to The Way that they call a sect, so I serve the God of the fathers, believing all things that have been written in the Law and the Prophets,

15 Teniendo esperanza en Dios, como ellos mismos también la tienen, de que ha de haber resurrección de los muertos, así de los justos, como de los injustos.

having hope toward God, which they themselves also wait for, [that] there is about to be a resurrection of the dead, both of righteous and unrighteous;

16 Y por esto yo procuro tener siempre conciencia sin ofensa acerca de Dios, y acerca de los hombres.

and in this I exercise myself, to always have a conscience void of offense toward God and men.

17 Mas pasados muchos años, vine a hacer limosnas a mi nación y ofrendas,

And after many years I came, about to do kind acts to my nation, and offerings,

18 Cuando me hallaron santificado en el templo, (no con multitud, ni con alboroto, ) unos Judíos de Asia:

in which certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, not with multitude, nor with tumult,

19 Los cuales convenía que fueran presentes delante de ti, y acusar, si contra mí tenían algo:

whom it is necessary to be present before you, and to accuse, if they had anything against me,

20 O si no, que estos mismos digan aquí, si hallaron en mí alguna cosa mal hecha cuando yo estuve delante del concilio;

or let these same say if they found any unrighteousness in me in my standing before the Sanhedrin,

21 Sino que sea por esta sola voz que clamé estando entre ellos: Que de la resurrección de los muertos soy hoy juzgado por vosotros.

except concerning this one voice, in which I cried, standing among them—Concerning a resurrection of the dead I am judged by you today.”

22 Entonces oídas estas cosas, teniendo Félix mejor conocimiento de aquel camino, les puso dilación, diciendo: Cuando descendiere el tribuno Lisias, acabaré de conocer de vuestro negocio.

And having heard these things, Felix delayed them—having known more exactly of the things concerning The Way—saying, “When Lysias the chief captain may come down, I will know fully the things concerning you”;

23 Y mandó al centurión, que Pablo fuese guardado, y que fuese relajado, y que no vedase a ninguno de los suyos de servir le, o venir a él.

having also given a direction to the centurion to keep Paul, to let [him] also have liberty, and to forbid none of his own friends to minister or to come near to him.

24 Y algunos días después, viniendo Félix con Drusila su mujer, la cual era Judía, llamó a Pablo, y oyó de él sobre la fe que es en Cristo.

And after certain days, Felix having come with his wife Drusilla, being a Jewess, he sent for Paul, and heard him concerning faith toward Christ,

25 Y razonando él de la justicia, y de la continencia, y del juicio venidero, espantado Félix, respondió: Por ahora vete; que teniendo lugar oportuno te llamaré:

and he reasoning concerning righteousness, and self-control, and the judgment that is about to be, Felix, having become afraid, answered, “For the present be going, and having time, I will call for you”;

26 Esperaba también, que de parte de Pablo le sería dado dinero, porque le soltase; por lo cual haciéndole venir muchas veces, hablaba con él.

and at the same time also hoping that money will be given to him by Paul, that he may release him, therefore, also sending for him often, he was conversing with him;

27 Mas cumplidos dos años, Félix tuvo por sucesor a Porcio Festo; y queriendo Félix ganar la gracia de los Judíos, dejó preso a Pablo.

and two years having been fulfilled, Felix received a successor, Porcius Festus; Felix also willing to lay a favor on the Jews, left Paul bound.
