2 Timoteo 2
1 Tú, pues, hijo mío, esfuérzate en la gracia que es en Cristo Jesús.
Thou therefore, my sonne, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Iesus.
2 Y lo que has oído de mí entre muchos testigos, esto encarga a hombres fieles que serán idóneos para enseñar también a otros.
And what things thou hast heard of me, by many witnesses, ye same deliuer to faithfull men, which shalbe able to teache other also.
3 Tú, pues, sufre trabajos como fiel soldado de Jesu Cristo.
Thou therefore suffer affliction as a good souldier of Iesus Christ.
4 Ninguno que milita, se envuelve en los negocios de esta vida por agradar a aquel que le escogió por soldado.
No man that warreth, entangleth himselfe with the affaires of this life, because he woulde please him that hath chosen him to be a souldier.
5 Y aun también el que pelea en la palestra, no es coronado si no hubiere peleado legítimamente.
And if any man also striue for a Masterie, he is not crowned, except he striue as he ought to doe.
6 El labrador, para recibir los frutos, es menester que trabaje primero.
The husbandman must labour before he receiue the fruites.
7 Entiende lo que digo: déte, pues, el Señor entendimiento en todo.
Consider what I say: and the Lord giue thee vnderstanding in all things:
8 Acuérdate que Jesu Cristo, de la simiente de David, resucitó de los muertos, conforme a mi evangelio:
Remember that Iesus Christ, made of the seede of Dauid, was raysed againe from the dead according to my Gospel,
9 Por el cual sufro trabajos, como malhechor, hasta verme entre prisiones; mas la palabra de Dios no está presa.
Wherein I suffer trouble as an euill doer, euen vnto bondes: but the worde of God is not bounde.
10 Por tanto todo lo sufro por amor de los escogidos, para que ellos también consigan la salud que es en Cristo Jesús, con gloria eterna. (aiōnios g166)
Therefore I suffer all things, for the elects sake, that they might also obtaine the saluation which is in Christ Iesus, with eternall glorie. (aiōnios g166)
11 Palabra fiel: Que si morimos con él, también viviremos con él:
It is a true saying, For if we be dead together with him, we also shall liue together with him.
12 Si sufrimos, también reinaremos con él: si le negamos, él también nos negará:
If we suffer, we shall also reigne together with him: if we denie him, he also will denie vs.
13 Si no creemos, él empero se queda fiel: no se puede negar a sí mismo.
If we beleeue not, yet abideth he faithfull: he cannot denie himselfe.
14 Recuérda les estas cosas, protestando delante del Señor, que no tengan contiendas en palabras, que para nada aprovechan, sino para trastornar a los oyentes.
Of these things put them in remembrance, and protest before the Lord, that they striue not about wordes, which is to no profit, but to the peruerting of the hearers.
15 Procura con diligencia presentarte a Dios aprobado, obrero que no tiene de qué avergonzarse, que distribuye bien la palabra de verdad.
Studie to shewe thy selfe approued vnto God, a workeman that needeth not to be ashamed, diuiding the worde of trueth aright.
16 Mas aléjate de los promovedores de disputas profanas y vanas, porque mucho aprovecharán en la impiedad.
Stay prophane, and vaine babblings: for they shall encrease vnto more vngodlinesse.
17 Y la palabra de ellos corroerá como gangrena; de los cuales es Himeneo, y Fileto,
And their worde shall fret as a canker: of which sort is Hymeneus and Philetus,
18 Que se han descaminado de la verdad, diciendo que la resurrección ha ya pasado, y trastornan la fe de algunos.
Which as concerning ye trueth haue erred from the marke, saying that the resurrection is past alreadie, and do destroy the faith of certaine.
19 Mas el fundamento de Dios está firme, el cual tiene este sello: Conoce el Señor los que son suyos; y: Apártese de iniquidad todo aquel que nombra el nombre de Cristo.
But the foundation of God remaineth sure, and hath this seale, The Lord knoweth who are his: and, Let euery one that calleth on the Name of Christ, depart from iniquitie.
20 Empero en una casa grande, no solamente hay vasos de oro y de plata, sino también de madera y de barro; y asimismo unos para honra, y otros para deshonra.
Notwithstanding in a great house are not onely vessels of gold and of siluer, but also of wood and of earth, and some for honour, and some vnto dishonour.
21 Así que el que se purificare de estas cosas, será vaso para honra santificado y útil para los usos del Señor, y aparejado para toda buena obra.
If any man therefore purge him selfe from these, he shalbe a vessell vnto honour, sanctified, and meete for the Lord, and prepared vnto euery good worke.
22 También, huye de los deseos juveniles; mas sigue la justicia, la fe, la caridad, la paz, con los que invocan al Señor de limpio corazón.
Flee also from the lustes of youth, and follow after righteousnes, faith, loue, and peace, with them that call on the Lord with pure heart,
23 Empero las cuestiones insensatas e insulsas desecha, sabiendo que engendran contiendas.
And put away foolish and vnlearned questions, knowing that they ingender strife.
24 Y el siervo del Señor no debe ser contencioso, sino manso para con todos, apto para enseñar, sufrido;
But the seruant of ye Lord must not striue, but must be gentle toward all men, apt to teache, suffering the euill,
25 Que con mansedumbre instruya a los que resisten; por si quizá Dios les dé que se arrepientan, y conozcan la verdad;
Instructing them with meekenesse that are contrary minded, prouing if God at any time will giue them repentance, that they may acknowledge the trueth,
26 Y que se despierten y se desenreden del lazo del diablo, los que son tomados vivos por él según su voluntad.
And come to amendment out of that snare of the deuil, of whom they are taken prisoners, to doe his will.
