2 Samuel 13
1 Después de esto aconteció, que Absalom, hijo de David, tenía una hermana hermosa que se llamaba Tamar, de la cual se enamoró Amnón hijo de David.
Now after these things, it happened that Amnon, the son of David, was in love with the very beautiful sister of Absalom, the son of David, and she was called Tamar.
2 Y Amnón fue angustiado, hasta enfermar por Tamar su hermana: porque por ser ella virgen, parecía a Amnón que sería cosa dificultosa hacerle algo.
And he pined for her exceedingly, so much so that, out of love for her, he became ill. For, since she was a virgin, it seemed a difficulty to him that he would do anything dishonest with her.
3 Y Amnón tenía un amigo, que se llamaba Jonadab, hijo de Samma, hermano de David, y Jonadab era hombre muy astuto.
Now Amnon had a friend named Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, the brother of David: a very prudent man.
4 Y este le dijo: Hijo del rey, ¿qué es la causa que a las mañanas estás así flaco? ¿No me lo descubrirás a mí? Y Amnón le respondió: Yo amo a Tamar la hermana de mi hermano Absalom.
And he said to him: “Why are you becoming so thin from day to day, O son of the king? Why won’t you tell me?” And Amnon said to him, “I am in love with Tamar, the sister of my brother Absalom.”
5 Y Jonadab le dijo: Acuéstate en tu cama, y finge que estás enfermo: y cuando tu padre viniere a visitarte, díle: Ruégote que venga mi hermana Tamar, para que me conforte con alguna comida, y haga delante de mí alguna vianda, para que viendo la coma de su mano.
And Jonadab said to him: “Lie down upon your bed, and feign sickness. And when your father will come to visit you, say to him: ‘I ask you to let my sister Tamar come to me, so that she may give me food, and may make a small meal, so that I may eat it from her hand.’”
6 Y Amnón se acostó, y fingió que estaba enfermo, y vino el rey a visitarle: y Amnón dijo al rey: Yo te ruego que venga mi hermana Tamar, y haga delante de mí dos hojuelas que coma yo de su mano.
And so, Amnon lay down, and he began to act as if he were ill. And when the king had come to visit him, Amnon said to the king, “I beg you to let my sister Tamar come to me, and make in my sight two little portions of food, so that I take it from her hand.”
7 Y David envió a Tamar a su casa, diciendo: Vé ahora a casa de Amnón tu hermano, y házle de comer.
Therefore, David sent home to Tamar, saying, “Come to the house of your brother Amnon, and make a small meal for him.”
8 Entonces Tamar fue a casa de su hermano Amnón, el cual estaba acostado: y tomó harina, y amasó, e hizo hojuelas delante de él, y aderezó las hojuelas.
And Tamar went into the house of her brother Amnon. But he was lying down. And taking flour, she mixed it. And dissolving it in his sight, she cooked little portions of food.
9 Y tomando la sartén sacólas delante de él: mas él no quiso comer. Y dijo Amnón: Echád fuera de aquí a todos. Y todos se salieron de allí.
And taking what she had cooked, she poured it out, and she set it before him. But he refused to eat. And Amnon said, “Send everyone away from me.” And when they had sent everyone away,
10 Entonces Amnón dijo a Tamar: Trae la comida a la recámara, para que yo coma de tu mano. Y tomando Tamar las hojuelas que había cocido, llevólas a su hermano Amnón a la recámara.
Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food into the bedroom, so that I may eat from your hand.” Therefore, Tamar took the little portions of food that she had made, and she brought them to her brother Amnon in the bedroom.
11 Y como ella se las puso delante para que comiese, él trabó de ella, diciéndole: Ven, hermana mía, duerme conmigo.
And when she had presented the food to him, he took hold of her, and he said, “Come lie with me, my sister.”
12 Ella entonces le respondió: No, hermano mío, no me hagas fuerza: porque no se hace así en Israel: no hagas tal locura.
She answered him: “Do not do so, my brother! Do not force me. For no such thing must be done in Israel. Do not choose to do this senseless act.
13 Porque ¿dónde iría yo con mi deshonra? Y aun tú serías estimado como uno de los insensatos de Israel. Yo te ruego ahora que hables al rey, que no me negará a ti.
For I will not be able to bear my shame. And you will be like one of the foolish in Israel. For it is better to speak to the king, and he will not deny me to you.”
14 Mas él no la quiso oír, antes pudiendo más que ella la forzó, y durmió con ella.
But he was not willing to agree to her petition. Instead, prevailing by strength, he forced her, and he lay with her.
15 Y aborrecióla Amnón de tan grande aborrecimiento, que el odio con que la aborreció después, fue mayor que el amor con que la había amado. Y díjole Amnón: Levántate, y vete.
And Amnon held hatred for her with an exceedingly great hatred, so much so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her before. And Amnon said to her, “Rise up, and go away.”
16 Y ella le respondió: No es razón. Mayor mal es este de echarme, que el que me has hecho. Mas él no la quiso oír.
And she answered him, “This evil is greater, which you are now doing against me in driving me away, than what you did before.” But he was not willing to listen to her.
17 Antes llamando a su criado, que le servía, le dijo: Échame ésta allá fuera, y cierra la puerta tras ella.
Instead, calling the servants who were ministering to him, he said, “Cast this woman out from me, and close the door behind her.”
18 Y ella tenía una ropa de colores sobre sí, (que las hijas vírgenes de los reyes vestían de aquellas ropas: ) y su criado la echó fuera, y cerró la puerta tras ella.
Now she was clothed with an ankle-length robe. For the virgin daughters of the king made use of this kind of garment. And so, his servant cast her out, and he closed the door behind her.
19 Y Tamar tomó ceniza, y esparcióla sobre su cabeza, y rompió la ropa de colores de que estaba vestida: y puestas sus manos sobre su cabeza, se fue gritando.
And she sprinkled ashes upon her head, and she tore her ankle-length robe. And placing her hands upon her head, she went forth, walking and crying out.
20 Y le dijo su hermano Absalom: ¿Ha estado contigo tu hermano Amnón? Calla, pues, ahora hermana mía, tu hermano es, no pongas tu corazón en este negocio. Y Tamar se quedó desconsolada en casa de su hermano Absalom.
Then her brother Absalom said to her: “Has your brother Amnon lain with you? But now, sister, be quiet. For he is your brother. And you should not afflict your heart because of this matter.” And so, Tamar remained, wasting away in the house of her brother Absalom.
21 Y el rey David, oyendo todo esto, fue muy enojado.
And when king David had heard about these things, he was deeply grieved. But he was not willing to afflict the spirit of his son Amnon. For he loved him, since he was his firstborn.
22 Mas Absalom no habló, ni malo ni bueno con Amnón, porque Absalom aborrecía a Amnón, porque había forzado a su hermana Tamar.
Yet Absalom did not speak to Amnon, neither good nor evil. For Absalom hated Amnon because he had violated his sister Tamar.
23 Y aconteció, pasados dos años de tiempo, que Absalom tenía trasquiladores en Baal-hasor, que es junto a Efraím. Y convidó Absalom a todos los hijos del rey,
Then, after the time of two years, it happened that the sheep of Absalom were being shorn in Baal-hazor, which is near Ephraim. And Absalom invited all the sons of the king.
24 Y vino Absalom al rey, y díjole: He aquí, tu siervo tiene ahora trasquiladores: yo ruego que venga el rey y sus siervos con tu siervo.
And he went to the king, and he said to him: “Behold, the sheep of your servant are being shorn. I ask that the king, with his servants, may come to his servant.”
25 Y respondió el rey a Absalom: No, hijo mío, no vamos todos, porque no seamos gravosos sobre ti. Y porfió con él, y no quiso venir, mas le bendijo.
And the king said to Absalom: “Do not, my son, do not choose to ask that we may all come and be a burden to you.” Then, after he urged him, and he had refused to go, he blessed him.
26 Entonces dijo Absalom: Si no, ruégote que venga con nosotros Amnón mi hermano. Y el rey le respondió: ¿Para qué ha de ir contigo?
And Absalom said, “If you are not willing to come, I beg you, at least let my brother Amnon come with us.” And the king said to him, “It is not necessary that he go with you.”
27 Y como Absalom le importunase, dejó ir con él a Amnón, y a todos los hijos del rey.
But Absalom pressed him, and so he sent with him Amnon and all the sons of the king. And Absalom made a feast, like the feast of a king.
28 Y había mandado Absalom a sus criados, diciendo: Yo os ruego que miréis, cuando el corazón de Amnón estará alegre del vino, y cuando yo os dijere: Heríd a Amnón; entonces matádle: y no tengáis temor, que yo os lo he mandado. Esforzáos, pues, y sed hombres valientes.
Then Absalom commanded his servants, saying: “Observe when Amnon will have become drunk with wine. And when I say to you, ‘Strike and kill him!’ do not be afraid. For it is I who commands you. Be strong and valiant men.”
29 Y los criados de Absalom lo hicieron con Amnón como Absalom se lo había mandado, y levantándose todos los hijos del rey subieron todos en sus mulos, y huyeron.
Therefore, the servants of Absalom acted against Amnon, just as Absalom had commanded them. And all the sons of the king rose up, and each one climbed upon his mule and fled.
30 Y estando aun ellos en el camino, la fama llegó a David, diciendo: Absalom ha asesinado a todos los hijos del rey, que ninguno ha quedado de ellos.
And while they were still traveling on the journey, a rumor reached David, saying, “Absalom has struck down all the sons of the king, and there is not one of them remaining.”
31 Entonces David levantándose rompió sus vestidos, y echóse en tierra: y todos sus siervos estaban desgarrados sus vestidos.
And so the king rose up, and he tore his garments, and he fell upon the ground. And all his servants, who were standing near him, tore their garments.
32 Y respondió Jonadab el hijo de Samma hermano de David, y dijo: No diga mi señor, que han asesinado a todos los mozos, hijos del rey, que solo Amnón es muerto, que en la boca de Absalom estaba puesto desde el día que Amnón forzó a Tamar su hermana,
But Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David’s brother, responding, said: “My lord the king should not consider that all the sons of the king have been slain. Amnon alone is dead. For he was set against by the mouth of Absalom from the day that he raped his sister Tamar.
33 Por tanto ahora no ponga mi señor el rey en su corazón tal palabra, diciendo: Todos los hijos del rey han sido asesinados, que solo Amnón es muerto.
Now therefore, let not my lord the king set this word in his heart, saying, ‘All the sons of the king have been slain.’ For only Amnon is dead.”
34 Y Absalom huyó. Y alzando sus ojos el mozo, que estaba en atalaya, miró, y, he aquí mucho pueblo que venía a sus espaldas por el camino de hacia el monte.
Now Absalom fled. And the young man keeping watch, lifted up his eyes and gazed out. And behold, many people were arriving along a remote road at the side of the mountain.
35 Y dijo Jonadab al rey: He allí los hijos del rey que vienen; porque así es como tu siervo ha dicho.
And Jonadab said to the king: “Behold, the sons of the king are here. In accord with the word of your servant, so it has happened.”
36 Y como él acabó de hablar, he aquí los hijos del rey que vinieron, y alzando su voz lloraron. Y también el mismo rey, y todos sus siervos lloraron de muy gran llanto.
And when he had ceased speaking, the sons of the king also appeared. And entering, they lifted up their voice, and they wept. And the king also, and all his servants, wept with an exceedingly great weeping.
37 Mas Absalom huyó, y se fue a Tolmai, hijo de Ammiud rey de Gessur. Y David lloró por su hijo todos los días.
But Absalom, fleeing, went to Talmai, the son of Ammihud, the king of Geshur. Then David mourned for his son every day.
38 Y como Absalom huyó, y vino a Gessur, estuvo allá tres años.
Now after he had fled and had arrived in Geshur, Absalom was in that place for three years.
39 Y el rey David deseó salir por Absalom: porque ya estaba consolado a cerca de Amnón, que era muerto.
And king David ceased to pursue Absalom, because he had been consoled over the passing of Amnon.
