2 Samuel 12
1 Y envió Jehová a Natán a David: el cual viniendo a él, le dijo: Había dos hombres en una ciudad, el uno rico, y el otro pobre.
And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him: 'There were two men in one city: the one rich, and the other poor.
2 El rico tenía ovejas y vacas asaz:
The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds;
3 Mas el pobre ninguna cosa tenía, sino una sola cordera, que había comprado, la cual él había criado, y había crecido con él y con sus hijos juntamente, comiendo de su bocado de pan, y bebiendo de su vaso, y durmiendo en su regazo: y teníala como a una hija.
but the poor man had nothing save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and reared; and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own morsel, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
4 Y vino uno de camino al hombre rico: y él no quiso tomar de sus ovejas y de sus vacas, para guisar al caminante que le había venido: sino tomó la oveja de aquel hombre pobre, y aderezóla para el varón que le había venido.
And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him, but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.'
5 Entonces el furor se le encendió a David en gran manera contra aquel hombre, y dijo a Natán: Vive Jehová, que el que tal hizo es digno de muerte:
And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan: 'As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this deserveth to die;
6 Y que él pagará la cordera con el cuatro tanto: porque hizo esta tal cosa, y no tuvo misericordia.
and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.'
7 Entonces Natán dijo a David: Tú eres aquel varón. Así dijo Jehová, Dios de Israel: Yo te ungí por rey sobre Israel, y te libré de la mano de Saul.
And Nathan said to David: 'Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
8 Yo te di la casa de tu señor, y las mujeres de tu señor en tu seno; además de esto, te di la casa de Israel y de Judá. Y si esto es poco, yo te añadiré tales y tales cosas.
and I gave thee thy master's house, and thy master's wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that were too little, then would I add unto thee so much more.
9 ¿Por qué pues tuviste en poco la palabra de Jehová, haciendo lo malo delante de sus ojos? A Urías Jetteo heriste a cuchillo, y tomaste por tu mujer a su mujer, y a él mataste con la espada de los hijos de Ammón.
Wherefore hast thou despised the word of the LORD, to do that which is evil in My sight? Uriah the Hittite thou hast smitten with the sword, and his wife thou hast taken to be thy wife, and him thou hast slain with the sword of the children of Ammon.
10 Por lo cual ahora no se apartará espada de tu casa perpetuamente, por cuanto me menospreciaste, y tomaste la mujer de Urías Jetteo, para que fuese tu mujer.
Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from thy house; because thou hast despised Me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
11 Así dijo Jehová: He aquí, yo despierto sobre ti mal de tu misma casa: y yo tomaré tus mujeres delante de tus ojos, y las daré a tu prójimo, el cual dormirá con tus mujeres en la presencia de este sol.
Thus saith the LORD: Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
12 Porque tú lo hiciste en secreto, mas yo haré esto delante de todo Israel, y delante del sol.
For thou didst it secretly; but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.'
13 Entonces dijo David a Natán: Pequé a Jehová. Y Natán dijo a David: También Jehová ha trasportado tu pecado; no morirás.
And David said unto Nathan: 'I have sinned against the LORD.' And Nathan said unto David: 'The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
14 Mas por cuanto con este negocio hiciste blasfemar a los enemigos de Jehová, el hijo que te ha nacido muriendo morirá.
Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast greatly blasphemed the enemies of the LORD, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.'
15 Y Natán se volvió a su casa. Y Jehová hirió al niño, que la mujer de Urías había parido a David, y enfermó gravemente.
And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife bore unto David, and it was very sick.
16 Y David rogó a Dios por el niño; y ayunó David ayuno, y vino, y pasó la noche acostado en tierra.
David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and as often as he went in, he lay all night upon the earth.
17 Y levantáronse los ancianos de su casa a él, para hacerle levantar de tierra, mas él no quiso, ni comió con ellos pan.
And the elders of his house arose, and stood beside him, to raise him up from the earth; but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.
18 Y al séptimo día el niño murió; y sus siervos no osaban hacerle saber que el niño era muerto, diciendo entre sí: Cuando el niño aun vivía le hablábamos, y no quería oír nuestra voz; ¿pues cuánto más mal le hará si le dijéremos: el niño es muerto?
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead; for they said: 'Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke unto him, and he hearkened not unto our voice; how then shall we tell him that the child is dead, so that he do himself some harm?'
19 Mas David viendo a sus siervos hablar entre sí, entendió que el niño era muerto: y dijo David a sus siervos: ¿Es muerto el niño? Y ellos respondieron: Muerto es.
But when David saw that his servants whispered together, David perceived that the child was dead; and David said unto his servants: 'Is the child dead?' And they said: 'He is dead.'
20 Entonces David se levantó de tierra, y lavóse, y ungióse, y mudó sus ropas, y entró a la casa de Jehová, y adoró. Y después vino a su casa, y demandó, y pusiéronle pan, y comió.
Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel; and he came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped; then he came to his own house; and when he required, they set bread before him, and he did eat.
21 Y dijéronle sus siervos: ¿Qué es esto que has hecho? Por el niño viviendo aun, ayunabas y llorabas: ¿y él muerto, levantástete, y comiste pan?
Then said his servants unto him: 'What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.'
22 Y él respondió: Viviendo aun el niño, yo ayunaba y lloraba, diciendo: ¿Quién sabe, si Dios habrá compasión de mí, que viva el niño?
And he said: 'While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept; for I said: Who knoweth whether the LORD will not be gracious to me, that the child may live?
23 Mas ahora que ya es muerto, ¿para qué tengo de ayunar? ¿Podréle yo más volver? Yo voy a él, mas él no volverá a mí.
But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.'
24 Y consoló David a Bersabée su mujer, y entrando a ella durmió con ella, y parió un hijo, y llamó su nombre Salomón, al cual Jehová amó.
And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her; and she bore a son, and called his name Solomon. And the LORD loved him;
25 Y envió por mano de Natán profeta, y llamó su nombre Jedidia, por Jehová.
and He sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and he called his name Jedidiah, for the LORD'S sake.
26 Y Joab peleaba contra Rabba de los hijos de Ammón, y tomó la ciudad real.
Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
27 Y envió Joab mensajeros a David, diciendo: Yo he peleado contra Rabba, y he tomado la ciudad de las aguas.
And Joab sent messengers to David, and said: 'I have fought against Rabbah, yea, I have taken the city of waters.
28 Junta pues ahora el pueblo que queda, y asienta campo sobre la ciudad, y tómala, porque tomando yo la ciudad, no se llame de mi nombre.
Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city, and take it; lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.'
29 Y juntando David todo el pueblo, fue contra Rabba, y combatióla, y la tomó.
And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
30 Y tomó la corona de su rey de su cabeza, la cual pesaba un talento de oro: y había en ella piedras preciosas, y fue puesta sobre la cabeza de David: y trajo muy grande despojo de la ciudad.
And he took the crown of Malcam from off his head; and the weight thereof was a talent of gold, and in it were precious stones; and it was set on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city, exceeding much.
31 Y sacó el pueblo que estaba en ella, y púsole debajo de sierras, y de trillos de hierro, de hachas de hierro, e hízolos pasar por hornos: y lo mismo hizo a todas las ciudades de los hijos de Ammón: y volvióse David con todo el pueblo a Jerusalem.
And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln; and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
