1 Y como el rey Ezequías lo oyó, rompió sus vestidos, y cubrióse de saco, y entróse en la casa de Jehová.
And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
2 Y envió a Eliacim el mayordomo, y a Sobna escriba, y a los ancianos de los sacerdotes vestidos de sacos, a Isaías profeta, hijo de Amós,
And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
3 Que le dijesen: Así dijo Ezequías: Este día es día de angustia, y de reprensión, y de blasfemia: porque los hijos han venido hasta la rotura, y la que pare no tiene fuerzas.
And they said unto him: 'Thus saith Hezekiah: This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and of contumely; for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.
4 Quizá oirá Jehová tu Dios todas las palabras de Rabsaces, al cual el rey de los Asirios su señor ha enviado para injuriar al Dios vivo, y a reprender con palabras, las cuales Jehová tu Dios ha oído: por tanto alza oración por los restos que aun se hallan.
It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to taunt the living God, and will rebuke the words which the LORD thy God hath heard; wherefore make prayer for the remnant that is left.'
5 Y vinieron los siervos del rey Ezequías a Isaías.
So the servants of king Hezekiah came to Isaiah.
6 E Isaías les respondió: Así diréis a vuestro señor: Así dijo Jehová: No temas por las palabras que has oído, con las cuales me han blasfemado los siervos del rey de Asiria.
And Isaiah said unto them: 'Thus shall ye say to your master: Thus saith the LORD: Be not afraid of the words that thou hast heard, wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me.
7 He aquí, yo pongo en él un espíritu, y oirá rumor, y volverse ha a su tierra: y yo haré que en su tierra caiga a cuchillo.
Behold, I will put a spirit in him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.'
8 Y volviendo Rabsaces halló al rey de Asiria combatiendo a Lebna: porque ya había oído que se había partido de Laquis.
So Rab-shakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah; for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.
9 Y oyó decir de Taraca rey de Etiopía: He aquí que es salido para hacerte guerra. Entonces él volvió, y envió embajadores a Ezequías, diciendo:
And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia: 'Behold, he is come out to fight against thee'; he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying:
10 Así diréis a Ezequías rey de Judá: No te engañe tu Dios, en quien tú confías para decir: Jerusalem no será entregada en mano del rey de Asiria:
'Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying: Let not thy God in whom thou trustest beguile thee, saying: Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
11 He aquí, tú has oído lo que han hecho los reyes de Asiria a todas las tierras, destruyéndolas, ¿y has de escapar tú?
Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered?
12 ¿Libráronlas los dioses de las gentes, que mis padres destruyeron, es a saber, Gozán, y Harán, y Resef, y los hijos de Edén, que estaban en Talassar?
Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed, Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden that were in Telassar?
13 ¿Dónde está el rey de Emat, el rey de Arfad, el rey de la ciudad de Sefarvaim, de Ana, y de Ava?
Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah?'
14 Y tomó Ezequías las cartas de mano de los embajadores, y luego que las hubo leído, subió a la casa de Jehová, y extendiólas Ezequías delante de Jehová.
And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.
15 Y oró Ezequías delante de Jehová, diciendo: Jehová Dios de Israel, que habitas sobre los querubines, tú solo eres Dios a todos los reinos de la tierra: tú hiciste el cielo y la tierra.
And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said: 'O LORD, the God of Israel, that sittest upon the cherubim, Thou art the God, even Thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; Thou hast made heaven and earth.
16 Inclina, oh Jehová, tu oreja, y oye: abre, oh Jehová, tus ojos, y mira, y oye las palabras de Sennaquerib, que ha enviado a blasfemar al Dios vivo.
Incline Thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open Thine eyes, O LORD, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, wherewith he hath sent him to taunt the living God.
17 Es verdad, oh Jehová, que los reyes de Asiria han destruido las gentes y sus tierras;
Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands,
18 Y que pusieron en el fuego a sus dioses, por cuanto ellos no eran dioses, sino obra de manos de hombres, madera, o piedra, y así los destruyeron.
and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were no gods, but the work of men's hands, wood and stone; therefore they have destroyed them.
19 Ahora pues, oh Jehová, Dios nuestro, sálvanos, te suplico, de su mano, para que sepan todos los reinos de la tierra que tú solo, Jehová, eres Dios.
Now therefore, O LORD our God, save Thou us, I beseech Thee, out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that Thou art the LORD God, even Thou only.'
20 Entonces Isaías, hijo de Amós, envió a Ezequías, diciendo: Así dijo Jehová Dios de Israel: Lo que me rogaste acerca de Sennaquerib, rey de Asiria, he oído.
Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying: 'Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel: Whereas thou hast prayed to Me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, I have heard thee.
21 Esta es la palabra que Jehová ha hablado contra él: ¿Háte menospreciado? ¿Háte escarnecido, oh virgen, hija de Sión? ¿Ha movido su cabeza detrás de ti, hija de Jerusalem?
This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him: The virgin daughter of Zion hath despised thee and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
22 ¿A quién has injuriado? ¿Y a quién has blasfemado? ¿Y contra quién has hablado alto, y has alzado en alto tus ojos? Contra el Santo de Israel.
Whom hast thou taunted and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice? Yea, thou hast lifted up thine eyes on high, even against the Holy One of Israel!
23 Por mano de tus mensajeros has dicho injurias contra mi Señor, y has dicho: Con la multitud de mis carros he subido a las cumbres de los montes, a las cuestas del Líbano, y cortaré sus altos cedros, sus hayas escogidas: y entraré a la morada de su término, al monte de su Carmelo.
By the messengers thou hast taunted the Lord, and hast said: With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I have cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice cypresses thereof; and I have entered into his farthest lodge, the forest of his fruitful field.
24 Yo he cavado, y bebido las aguas ajenas, y he secado con las plantas de mis pies todos los ríos de los pueblos, sobre los cuales yo he puesto cerco.
I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of Egypt.
25 ¿Nunca has oído, que de luengo tiempo la hice yo, y de días antiguos la he formado? Y ahora la he hecho venir, y será para destrucción de ciudades fuertes en montones de asolamiento.
Hast thou not heard? long ago I made it, in ancient times I fashioned it; now have I brought it to pass, yea, it is done; that fortified cities should be laid waste into ruinous heaps.
26 Y sus moradores cortos de manos, quebrantados, y confusos, serán yerba del campo, legumbre verde: heno de los tejados que antes que venga a madurez es seco.
Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it is grown up.
27 Yo he sabido tu asentarte, tu salir, y tu entrar, y tu furor contra mí.
But I know thy sitting down, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy raging against Me.
28 Por cuanto te has airado contra mí, y tu estruendo ha subido a mis oídos: por tanto yo pondré mi anzuelo en tus narices, y mi freno en tus labios, y yo te haré volver por el camino por donde viniste.
Because of thy raging against Me, and for that thy tumult is come up into Mine ears, therefore will I put My hook in thy nose, and My bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
29 Y esto te será por señal: Este año comerás lo que nacerá de suyo: y el segundo año lo que tornará a nacer de suyo; y el tercer año haréis sementera, y segaréis, y plantaréis viñas, y comeréis el fruto de ellas.
And this shall be the sign unto thee: ye shall eat this year that which groweth of itself, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
30 Y lo que hubiere escapado, lo que habrá quedado de la casa de Judá tornará a echar raíz hacia abajo, y hará fruto hacia arriba.
And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.
31 Porque saldrán de Jerusalem residuos, y escapadura del monte de Sión: el celo de Jehová de los ejércitos hará esto.
For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of mount Zion they that shall escape; the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall perform this.
32 Por tanto Jehová dice así del rey de Asiria: El no entrará en esta ciudad, ni echará saeta en ella: ni vendrá delante de ella escudo: ni será echado contra ella baluarte.
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria: He shall not come unto this city, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast a mound against it.
33 Por el camino que vino, se volverá, y no entrará en esta ciudad, dice Jehová.
By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and he shall not come unto this city, saith the LORD.
34 Porque yo ampararé a esta ciudad para salvarla, por amor de mí, y por amor de David mi siervo.
For I will defend this city to save it, for Mine own sake, and for My servant David's sake.'
35 Y aconteció que la misma noche salió el ángel de Jehová, e hirió en el campo de los Asirios ciento y ochenta y cinco mil hombres: y como se levantaron por la mañana, he aquí los cuerpos de los muertos.
And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred fourscore and five thousand; and when men arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
36 Entonces Sennaquerib rey de Asiria se partió, y se fue y tornó, y estúvose en Nínive.
So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.
37 Y aconteció, que estando él adorando en el templo de Nesroc su dios, Adramelec y Sarasar sus hijos le hirieron a cuchillo: y huyéronse a tierra de Ararat, y reinó en su lugar Asaradón su hijo.
And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sarezer his sons smote him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.
