1 Samuel 7

1 Y vinieron los de Cariat-jarim, y trajeron el arca de Jehová, y metiéronla en casa de Abinadab en Gabaa: y santificaron a Eleazar su hijo, para que guardase el arca de Jehová.

And the men of Cariathiarim come, and bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord: and they bring it into the house of Aminadab in the hill; and they sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

2 Y aconteció que desde el día que llegó el arca a Cariat-jarim pasaron muchos días, veinte años: y toda la casa de Israel lamentaba tras Jehová.

And it came to pass from the time that the ark was in Cariathiarim, the days were multiplied, and [the time] was twenty years; and all the house of Israel looked after the Lord.

3 Y habló Samuel a toda la casa de Israel, diciendo: Si de todo vuestro corazón os volvéis a Jehová, quitád los dioses ajenos, y a Astarot de entre vosotros, y preparád vuestro corazón a Jehová, y servíd a él solo, y él os librará de mano de los Filisteos.

And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you do with all your heart return to the Lord, take away the strange gods from the midst of you, and the groves, and prepare your hearts to [serve] the Lord, and serve him only; and he shall deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.

4 Entonces los hijos de Israel quitaron a los Baales, y a Astarot, y sirvieron a solo Jehová.

And the children of Israel took away Baalim and the groves of Astaroth, and served the Lord only.

5 Y Samuel dijo: Juntád a todo Israel en Maspa, y yo oraré por vosotros a Jehová.

And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Massephath, and I will pray for you to the Lord.

6 Y juntándose en Maspa, sacaron agua, y derramaron delante de Jehová: y ayunaron aquel día, y dijeron allí: Contra Jehová habemos pecado. Y juzgó Samuel a los hijos de Israel en Maspa.

And they were gathered together to Massephath, and they drew water, and poured it out upon the earth before the Lord. And they fasted on that day, and said, We have sinned before the Lord. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Massephath.

7 Y oyendo los Filisteos que los hijos de Israel estaban congregados en Maspa, subieron los príncipes de los Filisteos contra Israel. Lo cual como oyeron los hijos de Israel, hubieron temor de los Filisteos.

And the Philistines heard that all the children of Israel were gathered together to Massephath: and the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel: and the children of Israel heard, and they feared before the Philistines.

8 Y dijeron los hijos de Israel a Samuel: No ceses de clamar por nosotros a Jehová nuestro Dios, que nos guarde de mano de los Filisteos.

And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry to the Lord your God for us, and he shall save us out of the hand of the Philistines.

9 Y Samuel tomó un cordero de leche, y sacrificóle a Jehová en holocausto entero: y clamó Samuel a Jehová por Israel, y Jehová le oyó.

And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it up as a whole burnt offering with all the people to the Lord: and Samuel cried to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord heard him.

10 Y aconteció que estando Samuel sacrificando el holocausto, los Filisteos llegaron para pelear con los hijos de Israel. Mas Jehová tronó con gran sonido aquel día sobre los Filisteos, y quebrantólos y fueron vencidos delante de Israel.

And Samuel was offering the whole burnt offering; and the Philistines drew near to war against Israel; and the Lord thundered with a mighty sound in that day upon the Philistines, and they were confounded and overthrown before Israel.

11 Y saliendo los hijos de Israel de Maspa, siguieron a los Filisteos hiriéndolos hasta abajo de Bet-car.

And the men of Israel went forth out of Massephath, and pursued the Philistines, and struck them to the parts under Baethchor.

12 Y Samuel tomó una piedra, y púsola entre Maspa y Sen, y púsole nombre Eben-ezer, diciendo: Hasta aquí nos ayudó Jehová.

And Samuel took a stone, and set it up between Massephath and the old [city]; and he called the name of it Abenezer, stone of the helper; and he said, Hitherto has the Lord helped us.

13 Y los Filisteos fueron humillados, que no vinieron más al término de Israel: y la mano de Jehová fue contra los Filisteos todo el tiempo de Samuel.

So the Lord humbled the Philistines, and they did not anymore come into the border of Israel; and the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

14 Y fueron tornadas a los hijos de Israel las ciudades, que los Filisteos habían tomado a los Israelitas desde Accarón hasta Get, con sus términos, e Israel las libró de mano de los Filisteos. Y hubo paz entre Israel y el Amorreo.

And the cities which the Philistines took from the children of Israel were restored; and they restored them to Israel from Ascalon to Azob: and they took the coast of Israel out of the hand of the Philistines; and there was peace between Israel and the Amorite.

15 Y juzgó Samuel a Israel todo el tiempo que vivió.

And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

16 E iba todos los años, y daba vuelta a Bet-el y a Galgal, y a Maspa, y juzgaba a Israel en todos estos lugares:

And he went year by year, and went round Baethel, and Galgala, and Massephath; and he judged Israel in all these consecrated places.

17 Y volvíase a Rama; porque allí estaba su casa, y allí también juzgaba a Israel, y edificó allí altar a Jehová.

And his return was to Armathaim, because there was his house; and there he judged Israel, and built there an altar to the Lord.
